Admittedly so, I am a Baby Boomer so the whole idea of an escape room is a new concept. Our little group consisted of a Baby Boomer maintenance man, a Gen X aged computer programmer, myself, and a Baby Boomer aged Catholic priest! I had no idea what to expect so I was a little bit on the apprehensive side. Well, I can honestly tell you that from the minute we walked into the venue, we were promptly greeted and welcomed. The entire process was fully explained to us and all questions were completely answered. We were offered the opportunity to use the restrooms before our adventure began. Our hostess led us to our "room," (we selected the Knight and Rook room) and she wished us good luck! We actually found our first clue almost immediately. Each found clue leads to the next clue and the next step along the path to solving the room's intended puzzle and outcome. Something I think our little group learned along the way is that each person on the team brings a little something different "to the table" as in some people are able to think more critically, others more abstractly, some are able to read between the lines of text and some are able to find clues by the tried and true "hands on" method! The point being, by putting everyone's skills together, the job gets done! Needless to say, we all had a wonderful time! There was laughter, joking, over-seriousness, stumbling, bumbling, excitement, anticipation and a genuine good old-fashioned fun time and marvelous evening! I totally recommend this activity for any family or group of friends! Not only will you have an enjoyable time, you will also learn things about yourself and the people you call...
Read moreThis may have been the most fun I've had in a long time. A friend and I went for just the Crimson Storm first. It was challenging but extremely fun and well-themed. The fact that they come in after and help you finish the puzzle was nice too - they didn't hold our hands through it, they just led us to the water. We didnt escape Crimson Storm, but we had so much fun, we opted for Knight & Rook. We took advantage of the 20% off for booking in-house too, which was nice! Knight & Rook was SO MUCH FUN. I loved the room aesthetic, and (light spoilers) one of the early clue reveals was so cool that we both yelled, lol. Knight & Rook was incredibly satisfying and fun, definitely my favorite of the two we did. We got it done with 7 minutes left and I dont think I've ever been so excited in my life. I felt accomplished and happy. And it was even a bit of a workout, from running between clues, sitting and standing, getting down and up. It was the best experience of my life, and probably the only time I've ever felt I paid exactly the right amount for the experience. There is also a comfy, small waiting area in the lobby and WATER which is badly needed after using your brain super hard for an hour straight. We are coming back for Cashout next month! And we're gonna wrangle up a couple other friends for Pipeworks.
Thank you so much to the friendly staff, and kudos on the excellent theming and amazing rooms!! I think merch (like stickers, magnets, slap bracelets) for the individual rooms would be rad! I'd definitely buy out all of the K & R merch. Thanks again!! See yall...
Read moreWe had the best time! I have been too many escape rooms in different states, and some of them have rules that make the experience less enjoyable. At puzzle effect, they operate in a way that is fun for the customer. They don’t set a dumb rule on how many hints you can get (I mean, is it even fun if you don’t complete the challenge?). They don’t make you leave all your personal belongings in some locker so you don’t take photos (they actually encourage it). I felt like the room itself was by far funner than other ones I have participated in. The staff is super friendly. Crimson popped in at the end to take our photo and they post it to their Facebook page. Our game master Erin was the best. She explained the rules clearly and always popped in at the right time to give us a hint as needed. She would give us plenty of time to try and figure it out ourselves but when she could see we were definitely stuck she always helped. I would definitely return to this location and try a new puzzle. Oh, I forgot to mention I love how you don’t have to be grouped up with other random people. If there’s only two of you it’s OK and you get the room to yourself privately. I’ve been to other places where they make you either team up with other people you don’t know which is no fun in my opinion or they make you buy a minimum number of tickets if you want...
