I booked a room at the La Quinta, but somehow ended up at a Rodeway Inn, which was very confusing. The rooms are dark and bare and I could literally hear everything through the walls. I can’t say I felt particularly safe here either. They must’ve just recently sold the property because the other half is abandoned, and all of the logos around the building are for the La Quinta. The building is very decrepit and old and I could hear a broken smoke alarm. Something about this place was extremely eerie. Housekeeping walked into my room twice without knocking, which made me uncomfortable. The staff that I dealt with at the front desk seemed to be very respectful and allowed a late checkout because we accidentally slept in. There is no free breakfast like advertised and I would love to have a refund however, I won’t even bother. there’s a high chance that this location has bedbugs, but I can’t say anything for sure. The only real amenity is the pool and one working vending machine. The one thing I can say for the place is that the pool did look clean. it’s also a walking distance from tons of different places, including shops and restaurants. A&M University is just minutes away, depending on how much you like to walk, you can definitely walk there. Overall, this is definitely the cheapest hotel that I’ve seen in B/CS but I will not be staying here again. You could stay at the Red Roof Inn for about the same price, typically. Most likely...
Read moreBooked through Super.com (super.CON more like it). Advertised as a La Quinta, so I booked it knowing the brand name. I arrive and its a Freaking Roadway Inn. OK, no big deal, maybe its a rehab in progress or something. Assigned to room 110. Everything seemed fine until I looked at the bathroom shower ceiling. MOLD. Went to the office and was reassigned to room 109. Immediately upon walking in the room had a funk smell. Walked around and found an incense stick stuck between the end table and the wall. Went back to the office and the front desk person walked back with me to investigate. He came back and sprayed air freshener on the AC filter and carpet. I told him I wanted to make sure he knew it was not me smoking in the room. He said no problem. I left for dinner. The longer I stayed in the room the worse the smell got. I sprayed everything with Fabreeze to get through the evening. I used a towel to sleep on so I would not have to smell the funk on the pillows and sheets. Worst stay of my LIFE. I killed a fly, mosquito and a gnat during the evening. Upon the morning I noticed the ceiling above the desk had more mold that the shower in Room 110! Bait and switch or just flat out false advertising- this is not a La Quinta. Stay away. Now I discovered the are attempting to keep my "deposit" for smoking...
