I've been in College Station for 10 and a half years and have a lot fun memories as a TAMU student going in to dine with friends or organizations. I have been a customer that entire time. Loved their queso and I think the tacos are good.
However, I'm now giving this place a 1 star because I am fed up with how the drive thru is handled and their customer service skills over the last few years. When I order through the drive thru I usually get 2-4 tacos, and specifically ask for salsa and Pico. Every time I either get 1 or 2 little packets of salsas and maybe 1 or 2 little packets of Pico for 2-4 tacos. Today was the last straw. Because I am always short on salsa I asked if I could just buy a container of salsa and the drive thru order rep said I could but it only comes in a half pint. I figured alright I can never have too much salsa and went ahead and ordered that along with a pint of queso and 4 tacos.
I get my food and I move from their drove thru and go park so that I don't clog the drove thru and check my order and there is no half pint of salsa. I go in and speak to someone and the guy brings a half pint of salsa and then proceeds to look through the bag I brought to check what I had gotten. He then tries to tell me that the 3 little salsa packets they gave me were supposed to be the half pint I had ordered. Are you freaking serious?
First off, those were salsa packets I would have gotten if I had not ordered the extra chips and salsa and secondly, 3 of those packets are not the equivalent of half a pint. When I tell him this he looks at me annoyed and says ok in a whatever tone of voice, hands me the half pint of salsa, and walks away like he just didn't have time to argue and I was wasting his time. They weren't even that busy for him to even have some sort of reason for dismissing a customer like that. The dining area had empty tables, one group of 5 people had walked in before me, and there was only 1 car in the drive thru ordering when I walked in to ask for an item they had not given me that I had paid for.
I'm very disappointed in his attitude. This also isn't the first time I have to go in after getting my food from the drive thru to ask for missing items. The previous times the treatment was similar but not as bad and I excused it because they were jam packed. I've worked in retail, I understand that in the previous times they were most likely not trying to be dismissive, they were just really busy and were trying to get to everyone as fast as possible (or at least I'm hopeful that it was that situation). I've been in that situation before and felt bad even having to bother them. Not today though, this was just plain old bad customer service.
It's sad because this place is known as an Aggie establishment. I used to tell people if you come to Aggieland you need to stop by Fuego and try their food. I am sure as hell not saying that anymore to anyone I know because I don't want my friends treated in this manner and I don't want visitors or prospective students to have a negative experience when stopping by and checking out Aggieland. I myself will not be returning again and will make sure to tell people to avoid this place...
Read moreSecond visit was a let down. I ordered two different tacos that come with fried shrimp. The tortillas were cold and chewy and the fixings were half warm and half ice cold... I'm assuming the warm part was the shrimp. There were no limes, cilantro and very little salsa at the salsa bar. I managed the serve myself enough of the roasted salsa which was very good. I really want to try their breakfast menu but I can't see myself spending any more money here. I'm disappointed to say that Torchys is much better in terms of quality and Torchys isn't even that great. The staff at Fuego are absolutely amazing and it's the food that has been disappointing. This place will survive though. They don't need customers like me and as I said before college kids will eat anything. They might even still dine here if the tortillas were made of cardboard.
First visit: I will say that I'm glad they do not offer alcohol or beer at this establishment and that this is a safe place for college kids to eat, hang out, and have fun. What can you say about the actual food. Tacos are decent. Typical college taco restaurant. You can't expect much more. College kids will eat anything. It's super close to the university so not much effort required from the service provider other than making sure they keep the tacos coming for the hordes of college student that line up...
Read moreFuego is one of my favorite restaurants in town, however the staff is a huge disappointment. The morning/lunch staff have attitude and the manger that works the morning/lunch shift allows the staff to be rude to customers and third party delivery services. I have been a long time customer and delivered with a third party company. In the last 2 months I have had staff report orders are ready even though they are still being prepared and the staff says they do it so they don't appear late to the third party delivery company. I let management know what they were doing and showed management proof by my phone and the notification and then management confirmed with the employee that they marked the order ready even though it was not. I was asked to leave without my food. I came back about a week later waited for the food and was given the food by the same manager that walked outside with the food and said he did not want me to come back to the store! I told him I had done nothing wrong and was doing my job and his employees were rude. He said he was working with his employees but asked that I not come back. He said I can come as customer but not third party delivery. Wow!!! What a manager.......him and his staff need training on customer service. I will not support a company that ask me to leave when I'm doing my job but says I can come back...
