We stayed at Home2 Suites in College Station for a couple of nights recently. Our home near Houston was directly hit by Hurricane Beryl and was without power for a number of days. Finding a hotel close to home proved quite challenging. I'm very grateful that we were able to get a room at this Home2 Suites. I've stayed at Home2 Suites at another location, and liked it very much. Normally we book a double queen room when staying at a hotel. That was not an option, understandably, because hotel rooms within driving range were all quickly selling out (which was not surprising as more than 2 million people in our area were without power). We got a King 1 Bedroom at Home2Suites. I actually liked the king 1 bedroom quite a bit (I think I actually like it more than having a double queen room). The king bed was nice and roomy. I really liked that the door could be closed (my partner and I work different shifts and sleep at different times, so this worked out quite nicely). The bathroom was gigantic. The kitchen was functional and was stocked with dishes. I appreciated that the fridge was a full-size fridge with a real freezer. There was a microwave, and a sign that said that a single burner cooktop was available on request. The living room was comfortable. There was a loveseat-sized couch which pulled out into a bed (though we did not use this feature, so I can't speak to quality or comfort). The desk area was nice and the office chair comfortable (which I was grateful for as I had to work remotely). I also liked that there was a moveable desk which I could position anywhere I wanted. The side tables next to the couch were also nested, and I was glad I could move the nested table where I wanted. The dining area had a table that seats four. There was a big tv in the living room and another big tv in the bedroom. There was also an air conditioner in the living room, and a second one in the bedroom. The room was good. It had the basic comforts of home. The air conditioners were a little too effective, but that was a nice change from our home that had no power and no AC. We did not see any bed bugs, roaches, or other pests during our stay there. The room was quiet too, there were no disturbing sounds from neighbors (which was surprising considering the hotel was full). If I was in the kitchen/living area I could hear people walking down the hallway once in a while, but from the closed bedroom I couldn't hear a thing. I can't speak of the hotel amenities, since we didn't use any. We were simply there to sleep and work remotely. The internet was decent for working (I paid extra for the upgraded connection which was not expensive, I think it was around $15 for two days). There are decent restaurants and fast food places nearby. I have celiac disease, and I'm limited on what I can eat and I actually had more choices in College Station than I do in my hometown. The hotel is nicely located, there are gas stations nearby and even an H.E.B. to stock the fridge for your stay. For those travelling with pets, there is a highly rated 24 hour small animal emergency hospital nearby too. We didn't need to use it, thankfully, but it was nice to know it was there. I'm especially grateful that the hotel was able to accommodate us and our pets/support animal. Thank you Home2 Suites for giving us, and our animals, a comfortable refuge from Beryl's aftermath!

Our hotel experience was AMAZING & WONDERFUL! I came into town to take one of my service dogs to the Texas A&M Small Vet Clinic. We had to be in town at 730am with no where to really go afterwards except to breakfast. We had been up since 4am and driving into town with not much sleep the previous night. Around 10ish I called the front desk and reached Sarah. I explained my situation and asked if there was any way for us to get in early. She was able to accommodate us within the hour which was AMAZING & a God send. My friend and I were falling asleep standing up. We checked in with Sarah about noon. She greeted us smiling and asked how my dog was doing, huge bonus. I was traveling with my other service dog which was not a problem for the hotel without missing a beat, or giving me trouble, Sarah had me fill out the liability form and then for the first time ever handed me a great door hanging sign reminding staff not to enter due to my loving welcomed pet. I thought that was an awesome extra touch I'd NEVER seen anywhere! Throughout our one night stay Sarah continued to be helpful, smiling and wonderful. The hotel looks brand new and we didn't have any issues with the room. We had a double queen suite. It was very clean, had many extra bonuses like a larger fridge size of an apartment one, microwave, plates, cups, bowls, silverware and a few other items. The bed was very comfortable not too hard or too soft! Decent size TV but it was more over near the couch instead of closer to the beds. We couldn't move it closer which was disappointing but i know it's so it won't get stolen, sadly! They had a great lobby area and outside sitting areas. I was dissapointed that the pool was closed due to renovations because I really wanted to hang out next to the pool but the comfortable bed made up for it. They have 2 computers in the lobby for use. They have limited capabilities which was a little disappointing but both were hooked up to printers if needed which is a bonus! This is a great hotel and I will be staying here if I need to stay in College Station again! I highly recommend this hotel!

The hotel stay was pleasant. They offer an outdoor pool, gym, free laundry, business area, communal breakfast, outdoor patio with fire pit, 2 grills in a separate patio area, kitchenette fully stocked with dishes and utensils, desk in rooms, small rolling table for meals, plenty of counter space, wardrobe, bed, sofa that folds out to a bed. The part I did NOT like was the part where we are HH members and the manager still charged us double for four night stay.šŸ˜ž I addressed it with her. The night clerk was able to pull up our transaction on her computer that we reserved and paid for our stay through the HH app. The night clerk said talk with the day manager. The day manager had apologized and made up a story that she doesn’t get a report until Friday and can’t change anything until she gets the report. HOW WAS THE NIGHT CLERK ABLE TO SEE THE RESERVATION AND THAT IT WAS PAID FOR A WEEK IN ADVANCE? The MANAGER not only double charged us but she charged us at the higher rate😔😔😔 Most HH hotels will charge a small $50 fee for incidentals. When I spoke to her she had the report in her hand. Which means she was ā€œfixingā€ it. Nope she added another full charge of a night stay as well as n incidental fee. So $450 was held hostage over an already lengthy stay. 😔😔😔 Tuesday 4 days after. We checked out one of the nights plus in incidental were released four days later. We called to talk with the manager and she is in meetings all week. We disputed the charges with our bank. We have all our receipts and proof the charges cleared our account before we even arrived, the the app confirmation. Our bank had no problems giving our money back. ***BEWARE IF YOU ARE AN HH MEMBER!!! ***

Typically, I prefer to stay at Hilton-brand hotels, particularly Embassy Suites, Homewood Suites, Hampton Inn, and Hilton. Recently, I was in College Station. The Embassy Suites was not an option this time, so I opted for this hotel over the dated Hampton Inn next to it, the Homewood Suites, the aging Hilton, and the better Hampton Inn off Highway 6. I had previously never stayed at a Home2 Suites, I had a suspicion that it might be a lower-tier extended stay brand, but, given that it was priced higher than the other options and well reviewed, I thought it might not be so bad. Unfortunately, I found it to be disappointing.

Upon checking in, I was given two room keys, neither of which worked, as well as one (instead of two) bottles of water for my loyalty status. Additionally, they entered my stay information incorrectly such that my internet credentials did not work. Though the staff resolved these issues, they were not terribly friendly.

The room itself, though spacious, felt very cheap. Overall, the hotel seems to be a low-level extended stay place. Instead of curtains, the small bedroom window just has a pull-down shade. In the bathroom, the water was very soft, and the kitchenette sink had poor drainage. Only one bar of soap is provided. The shampoo and body wash are in wall-mounted dispensers in the shower. No conditioner is provided. In fairness, the mattress was comfortable, but the towels were very cheap.

A proper cleaning is only performed every five days, and the light cleaning is not performed on weekends. One of my non-weekend light cleanings was skipped. They justify this poor service in their marketing materials by arguing the environmental benefits. I would counterargue that these decisions are more cost-saving measures.

The breakfast was disappointing, far below the quality of even a Hampton Inn or Homewood Suites, despite this hotel charging more per night. There were some milk cartons with best-by dates dating the same day, a few yogurt options, brown bananas, and microwavable breakfast sandwiches.

Overall, given the price, quality, and service of this hotel, both at a brand-level and specifically at this property, I was disappointed and will therefore view new additions to the Hilton brand...

Here for a business trip, Front Desk Supervisor, here to train front desk staff for our hotel opening. Stayed here for two days until our hotel opened. Johnathan was amazing. Quick check in and let me know about breakfast. Got in my room and found a used qtip in one of the cabinets and there was some damage to my window shades. Immediately called FD. Johnathan apologized about the qtip and he let me know that he would inform housekeeping and techs so they could fix it. Beds were small but very comfortable. Pillows were nice and soft. There was a couch in the room but it definitely needs to be replaced or reupholstered. Came down to the FD in the morning to get towels but no one was at the desk and no one came around the glass partition. I waited for about 1-2 minutes, still no one comes to the desk. The phone rings then the female that was sitting at the table next to the desk gets up and answers the phone. She finally acknowledged me when she got off the phone. I looked at her nametag while she was on the phone; it said Jenny. I asked for towels and she went in the back to get them. As I'm waiting for Jenny to come back with my towels. A different woman walks behind the desk, dressed very casually (blue jeans, white tennis shoes, and a jacket over a shirt) but she did ask if someone was helping me. Went back to my room after I got my towels. Left the hotel a bit later and Jenny on her phone at the desk.

Overall, Johnathan had great customer service and it was a pleasure talking with him. The lady that was an employee but I couldn't tell because she was dressed so casually and no name tag, had good service for acknowledgement of me standing at the desk. Jenny's customer service was terrible. If she was on break, she should have been in an area out of view from guest. If you're going to sit in an area in view of guest and eat but still assist guests, you should finish your bite and acknowledge the guest immediately. She was on her phone at the desk too a big no no. So, because of the qtip, the couch and Jenny's terrible customer service, I'd give it 3 stars.

Thanks for the complementary Granny Smith Apple. It was...
