Please! Please! Read Piror to Booking Your Stay!! ** Let me start by saying Three Stars * for this particular La Quinta hotel is Extremely Generous. What was the most concerning and disheartening, was the lack empathy, compassion and total disrespect shown to my son, a minority with disabilities. Unfortunately, my son was not able to make it home in time for Christmas and had to find a place to stay. "Mind you..this is Christmas Eve & Day. My son due to certain cognitive disadvantages paid for the same day twice using a booking site. The site was more than willing to break protocal and give us a refund and or just move the funds to the next... If the hotel agreed. When my son approached the front desk staff, they were extremely rude uncooperative and showed no empathy or assistance with a resolution. When my son tried to record his experience as instructed...things got even worse, he was even harassed by the maintenance personnel. When I stepped in over the phone several states away and asked for the manager/owner..who I was told was "Nilay Patel," there was clear understanding why the staff felt they could treat us with such Disdain and Distasteful Behavior. The manager immediately walks in and says..to me on speaker in the lobby.. even after I urge him to take me off of speaker so that we can work this out privately (due to a sensitive mental health condition).."If your son is sick I will call him an ambulance." No compassion no understanding no willingness to work with us towards a resolution. Even when I explained my son's delicate situation and what could have contribute to the mistake, even the willingliness of the booking site to help us. When I noticed my son's anxiety started to heighten. I suggested he leave the lobby and go to his hotel room. While in his room the manager took the liberty to call the local police to further harass my son in his room. The police we're able to quickly assess the situation and realize there was No need for concern or for them being called. This was not a criminal matter only a reservation/accommodation concern and wished my son a Good Night. Please, know I will do everything in my power to bring this discriminatory treatment to justice. American Citizenship does not make you an American Mr Patel....Honoring and Abiding by the 14th Amendment Does. If you do not care about Equal Rights you are definitely in the wrong field in providing a Home away from Home experience and accommodation. Patreons, I urge you when you check-in.. if you still decide to do so after reading this review.. Please take a very close look at your room and inspect. I have instructed my son how to inspect a hotel room for cleanliness. It's in the everyday details that you think would be obvious and not easy to miss. You can find this information on Google. Not only was the customer service below bar the accommodations were as well. I urge you don't be easily FOOLED by the standard reply that will follow from " The Ownwer, Maketing aka Damage Control... "We take every effort to settle disputes and make sure all guests are comfortable blah blah blah blah blah." Nilay Patel...we are Wiser/Smater than you give us credit for. Rest assure patrons, this review is not the end for me and my family. I will continue to follow this through to the highest level.. The US Department of Commerce Travel and Tourism. Everyone answers to someone in this country Nilay Patel. I will continue to update my post. Thank you for reading and...
Read moreWe were booked into room 107. It has an adjoining room with what seems to be a long-term guest. We inferred this because the adjoining door had remnants of tissue or toilet paper that had been stuffed into the crack surrounding the door firmly enough to make the paper stick to the paint. The room smelled bad. The smell was coming from the adjoining room. The guest in that room was smoking both weed and what smelled like cigars. The hotel is supposed to be 100% smoke free, but when I asked about this at the front desk, I was told that "there's not much we can do except take their deposit" which was frankly kind of shocking. The guest also watched TV at all hours loudly enough that we could hear what he was watching (a lot of family fued) and also had guests over at all hours, loudly conversing. We went to home goods and bought a scented candle and room sprays to try to help, but our clothes and personal belongings all reeked of the odor from this neighbor's room by the time we departed.
The vinyl tile in the bath/toilet space was somewhat buckled and when weight was put on the tiles, water came through the cracks. When we showered the first night, more water seeped from the tub area out into the floor all the way out to the sink area, and it was obvious from the state of the floor that this was not a new issue. We used the towels provided to mop up the mess, but no one came on day 2 to take out the trash or provide fresh towels. I spoke to the head of housekeeping, who took the soaked towels and said she would come by with replacements shortly. She never did. We ended up having to go to the front desk to get replacements where we were informed that if the head of housekeeping had not noted in her records that we returned the wet towels, we would be charged for the replacements. I understand that this is a discount hotel, but maybe don't treat your guests who are reporting an issue like they're trying to scam you for crappy hotel towels.
We had brought beach towels and our swimsuits with us because it said online that the pool would be open after May 22 (it was not) so we used our own towels for most of the rest of our stay.
We ended up leaving a day early. Neither of us got much sleep the last night we were there (saturday night) because our neighbor had been smoking truly awful dank weed and had friends over until 4 in the morning. We checked out at 10:15 on Sunday morning and I tried to request a refund for the last night of our stay, but the desk clerk informed me that since we booked through priceline, I would have to request them to cancel the remainder of the booking before the hotel would issue a refund for the last night. I spent over an hour on hold before speaking to a person, only to be hung up on by the agent because the type of booking that I made apparently offers no refunds once the stay has begun. This is pretty disgusting to me, considering what a lousy experience we had.
I am in Colorado Springs several times per year, and I've had great experiences with La Quinta in the past, but I'll never return to this location. On saturday night/early sunday when I was unable to sleep due to my neighbor's antics, I made the mistake of reading other customers' reviews of this hotel, and I'm honestly shocked that you're still...

I’ve been staying at La Quinta properties regularly for over ten years as part of frequent work-related travel. While not every location is perfect, I’ve come to rely on a certain baseline of cleanliness, professionalism, and functionality. Unfortunately, my recent stay at this location was far below even the most basic expectations.
Check-In Delays Check-in was supposed to begin at 3:00 PM. I arrived at 9:00 PM and was still one of six guests waiting in line to receive a room. The delay wasn’t due to a system outage or lack of staff. We were all waiting simply because no rooms had been cleaned. To arrive that late in the evening and find rooms still unprepared was surprising and concerning.
Room Condition The room itself was poorly maintained. The window blinds wouldn’t close fully, leaving a six-inch gap that made my room visible from the parking lot and smoking area. I raised this concern via the hotel’s text system and again in person the next morning. No action was taken. For privacy, I had to hang towels across the window using the room’s chairs.
There was visible mildew in and around the bathroom ceiling, and the smell of mold was noticeable throughout the building. Aesthetic issues like mismatched or unfinished trim further contributed to an overall feeling of neglect.
Additionally, there were no accessible outlets near the bed. Both available outlets were already in use by lamps and alarm clocks, and there were no USB ports or extension options. This made it unnecessarily difficult to charge devices overnight.
Facility Issues The pool was listed as an available amenity online, but it was closed for the duration of my stay. Based on other recent reviews, it appears the pool has not been operational for quite some time. This should be clearly disclosed at the time of booking.
The hallways had fraying carpets, and the flooring in my room creaked with every step. There were also occasional sewage odors, likely related to the plumbing, that appeared when adjacent rooms were using their bathrooms. These were noticeable and unpleasant.
Breakfast and Staff Experience The complimentary breakfast was minimal. The only protein option was hard-boiled eggs, and outside of cereal, there was very little variety or substance. There were no fruit or baked goods, and only one waffle iron available for all guests.
Perhaps most concerning was the attitude of the front desk staff. While sitting near the lobby during checkout hours, I overheard several guests expressing serious concerns about their stays. Staff responded with dismissiveness and visible eye-rolling. That kind of behavior toward paying customers is unacceptable, regardless of how stressful a shift might be.
Final Thoughts This property needs far more than cosmetic updates. It has significant issues with cleanliness, maintenance, staffing, and customer service. I stayed for four nights over a holiday weekend, and while relocating would have been costly and inconvenient, I regretted not doing so.
This was not a one-off experience or an isolated problem. It reflects an overall breakdown in quality and accountability at this location. I will not return and would advise others to consider alternative accommodations...
