The room was dirty when we checked in. There was toothpaste in the sink and food on counters and the TV. I know hotels are short staffed and carry lysol wipes, so my son and I wiped everything down. We were exhausted and went to bed early, but we did notice that the sink drains were draining slowly.
The next day, we were out all day but came back to the room in the evening. We turned the TV on, it was an old thick set, and the image only had red and green in the colors. We tried to wash clothes, and a dryer was out of order. The drains were worse than the day before, and the toilet backed up. Additionally, other hotel guests trashed our floor, and there was mayonnaise in the elevator, chips crunched all over the floor and towels thrown down the hallway
I went to the front desk to complain to Jarron at the front desk. He said there was little he could do but would try to clean up the elevator. He didn't know if he had a plunger but would try to find one. We asked for additional towels and TP, and he did give us these items. We had to use the bathroom downstairs by the pool, and eventually, he brought us a plunger, gave it to my mom, and told her she would have to do it herself. The toilet was a mess and overflowed, and she had to clean it up herself, too. We soon realized we couldn't use our bathroom without plunging it, so we had to go downstairs every time we had to go.
I complained to Daisha at the desk the next morning. The chips from the other guests were still all over the hall. She said all she could give us was 5000 Marriott points. The internet says this is worth about $20. I paid over $400 for a 2-night stay WITH my AAA discount. This was way more than I would normally pay for a hotel of this quality in the first place. The 5000 points are insulting. She said she did not have the power to do anything more. I felt we should at least have a comped night.
She said she would call Zach, the actual hotel manager, and call me back. When she did, he only allowed her to give us the 5000 Marriott points.
In summary, they charged us $200 per night for a dirty room that didn't have a working toilet or TV. This is a complete rip-off. I will NEVER stay at a Marriott or Springhill suites again if they think this level of service and quality of rooms is acceptable for $400.
In addition to these issues, we also witnessed an employee drop the bread covers for the breakfast buffet on the ground and place them back on the bread without wiping them off. Yuck!
I also agree with other posters that the walls are very thin. We could hear everything happening in the hallway and the rooms...
Read moreWe were not allowed into our room until 1.5 hours after the fact, with two sick daughters who were throwing up. We were not given enough towels Our tub drains were clogged and we had to unclog them Our sink drains would not drain properly and we went out and purchased draino The constant noise from the above room early in the morning and late at night and the hotel did nothing about it, even after we used the online app to complain Lack of availability to an ATM machine No cold water in the lobby for us to fill our water bottles No luggage carriers to help us unload our car, we had to make several visits
Stephen Hopkins who is the General Manager basically told us we are Gold Members and others members who have a higher status than we do had higher priority than us for check-in. This was his response, "This means we have an influx of Gold, Platinum and Titanium members that are entitled to and more often than not request extended checkouts. In some of these situations, our guests have until 4 pm to vacate their room. My Housekeeping staff then has to work diligently to make sure that the room is cleaned and ready for the next guest’s arrival. Unfortunately, in your situation, we did not have your second room ready as we were accommodating one of your fellow Bonvoy member’s late check-out request. I do apologize for the circumstance, but I am not sure what we could have done differently in this situation. We were able to get you into one room while allowing the Titanium member to get their requested late departure. " He wouldn't even give us points back for our inconvenience.
The only good thing about this hotel was the person who did breakfast, Linda and the night crew man, Ray!!!! Don't waste your money or points on this hotel, there are many VBROs and other hotels that would make your vacation...
Read moreWe stayed for 4 nights while visiting our son who is at Fort Carson, Colorado Springs. The hotel is very clean and the staff, especially Jason at the front desk, are not only nice but do their jobs well. Did not need too many requests as the hotel already had a pot of hot coffee by the elevators and tea bags that you could take up to your room. The room has a refrigerator and microwave and provides coffee mugs and drinking glasses. The water pressure was amazing. We have been to other hotels where the water pressure was a little slow. When we left the room we would leave a note requesting whatever we wanted or needed and when we got back the cleaning staff did exactly what we asked. The room was very clean with no "cover up" smell that some hotels have to "refresh". The heat/air unit did not make any "funny" noises like some units do in other hotels. We once had to change rooms in another hotel chain due to the high picks squealing noise of the air conditioner fan. The bed was extremely comfortable (King) and the rooms seem to be very soundproof. The breakfast was hot and plentiful and you did not have to wait for a replenishment of any items. The juice was not watery like some places, but was made just right. Good supply of fresh fruit and healthy foods like oatmeal and granola. The hotel also has a laundry facility with 2 washers and dryers. That is a real plus for those of us who like to travel a little lighter. Since we did some sight seeing while there and The Garden of the Gods was a little wet and "muddy", we all got our jeans a little splattered and were glad to be able to wash them when we got back to the hotel. The hotel is very close to tourist...
