The hotel was very nice! I have no idea how old this hotel is but it looked brand new and our room looked very modern and similar to a room we had recently stayed in at a Crown Plaza in DC. The room was more than we expected and were very pleased with the accommodations. The beds were comfortable and everything was in good working order. Front desk staff was very friendly and helped us out with all of our request. We had a great view of Pike's Peak from our room which was nice to wake up to each morning. One of the issues we had which I can't fault the hotel for was its location. Its great if you want to spend the night there if you are catching a plane the next morning but there was nothing in the area. The hotel is in a business park and you need a car to get anywhere and was on the other side of town to ALL of the attractions we had done so we have to chalk that up to poor planning on our part. The main reason I did not give this stay a 5th star was because we were looking forward to going swimming each night at the hotel and after two days of complaining to three different people that the pool was not heated as advertised we gave up asking. The pool was so cold that we could only take it in small doses as my kid's lips were blue after about 30 minutes of swimming in it. There was also a sign stating the hot tub was 105 degrees but it was no warmer than bath water. Other minor issues we experienced were that we ordered room service 3 nights in a row and the food was great, reasonably priced and on time. The only issue we had with them was each time they missed something we had ordered and the one time my wife answered the door it was not pointed out to her that a 20% tip was already included in the bill as she tipped an additional 20%. You would have thought that the person delivering would point that out as a 40% tip is exorbitant for bringing some food to someone's room. The room was kept up during our visit but the little things were overlooked such as not enough towels in the room initially but the staff did correct this, we only got a newspaper the final morning of our stay (they forgot the other 3 mornings) but these were minor things that didn't by any means ruin our stay. Overall, we were pleased and would stay...
Read moreI am extremely disappointed with my recent experience booking a stay at Holiday Inn. Last week, I reserved a room with wedding block I was attending (not part of the wedding block, but at the same location). The hotel I originally intended to book was fully booked, but instead of clearly notifying me, the Holiday Inn website automatically rerouted me to another location without my knowledge.
The website displayed a brief 2-3 second message that there were no rooms available at my desired location. Then, it rerouted me to a different page with alternate hotel locations, but still displayed the original hotel’s address at the top, making it appear as though I had booked at the correct location. It was only after receiving the confirmation email that I realized I had booked the wrong hotel. I have attached a photo showing the correct/wedding block hotel location, with a different location as the top result for booking - note that there is no message or alert that the location I was looking to book at did not have any rooms available.
When I called Holiday Inn customer service to correct the mistake, I was told that due to the rate I had booked, they would not allow me to cancel or modify the reservation (without being charged one night). This was incredibly frustrating, as I had called immediately after noticing the error. When rooms did become available at the correct hotel, they refused to transfer my reservation, instead insisting that I cancel, pay a penalty of one night, and then rebook at the correct hotel.
This deceitful booking practice and refusal to accommodate such a simple request is incredibly disappointing. I hope this review serves as a warning to others. Be very careful when booking through Holiday Inn's website, as their practices are misleading and their customer service while kind, was completely unhelpful.
UPDATE - I went to check in for my reservation last night and it turns out that Holiday inn canceled my reservation about 2 weeks ago. The lovely friend desk staff member explained that the cancellation seemed to have come from corporate, not from this location. I can't help but wonder if somebody cancelled my reservation, without my consent or appropriate notification, after writing...
Read moreOverall, I was very disappointed with my stay. The hotel had great reviews, which is the main reason I chose this hotel. It was priced well and had the amenities I needed. However, my stay was quite frustrating. Before I even checked in, shortly after booking, I called to ask if I could request to have an adjoining room with another party, as I was traveling with my infant and 2 year old and the other party was their grandparents. I was told "well you can request whatever you want but that doesn't guarantee anything." I said that's fine, I would still like to request it if possible. The staff on the phone said "ok, sure" then hung up without ever asking for my name, the other party's name, a number, or anything. Of course when we checked in, it was no surprise that we did not have adjoining rooms. Checking in, it was late and my kids were both very tired. I had the baby in my arms and the man at the front desk was rushing me, very unfriendly. I dropped my wallet and he said "maam i just need to get you checked in" as if I was somehow inconveniencing him with my hands full. Once in our room, we found that there was mud on the floors that had not been vacuumed and mold in the shower. It was late, so we decided to just overlook that, but it was the start of our problems. The bed frame was broken with exposed screws and was very noisy, which was unsafe and quite inconvenient when traveling with small children. I tried to set up the baby's portable crib, but there was no space in the room for it without blocking the bathroom except underneath the desk, so my baby had to sleep under the desk. When brought to staffs attention they simply said there were no other rooms. In the morning, we went to get our breakfast tickets, as I had selected during my booking to add breakfast for my husband and I for $10 total. I was told that we did not add breakfast, which I was sure I had, but I asked anyway if I could just add it on at the desk. They told me "no, you can just pay for food at the restaurant." We ended up paying almost $20 for one single meal instead of the $10 for two meals. I would not stay here again, esspecially with children, and the reviews do not reflect the quality of this hotel or the...
