I’ve stayed a total of a month at this specific property before I got fed up to never return. Four of my coworkers have also gotten fed up to never return as well. I have over 100 nights in Hilton properties this year alone (it’s now September) and this one Hampton Inn is the single worst by a very large margin. This Hampton Inn of Columbia is a black eye on the Hilton brand. There’s only one word to describe this Hampton Inn, and it’s GHETTO. Rooms are filthy dirty, don’t get cleaned unless you request a few times. Stains and pubic hair everywhere level of dirty, even in a “cleaned bed”. And then they make the bed and don’t change the sheets or new towels. They charge a parking fee, and when you ask to have it removed the front desk person says they need to go talk with their manager only to not return. I’ve waited 30 minutes before getting fed up and leaving. The highway traffic noise is loud on the west side and upper floors. This location doesn’t have working security cameras, and someone stole an important package for me off of the front desk where UPS had a signed delivery from the front desk manager. She left the package on the counter and walked away apparently. The manager (Kareem) was supposed to call me, and he never did. I called the Diamond support line (Diamond member), and they called the hotel, and was told there’s nothing they will do. Apparently there’s nothing that corporate Hilton can do to force a hotel location action. That’s not a good Hilton policy.
The hotel general manager (Kareem) absolutely needs to be replaced and this location needs to be audited by corporate badly.
I had a free morning once, so I sat in the lobby doing some work. I observed the front desk manager telling people that she was only house keeping so she can’t help them because their room was broken into, and went back to watching a movie on her phone. She was definitely the front desk manager.
There are only two redeeming qualities of this Hampton Inn. First is the very sweet breakfast area lady. The second is Linda that’s clearly trying her best to keep the wheels on that dump, but doesn’t get the support that she needs from her manager, the General Manager.
I am beyond disappointed in this location, and these interactions has dramatically impacted my overall impression of the Hilton brand as a whole. I recommend a full audit from Hilton corporate and the replacement of the general manager; Kareem Miller whom has yet to...
Read moreBefore arrival night shift never would answer then phone. Upon arrival, the lady behind the desk didn’t have any answers to some concerns bc she said she had been off work and just came back. The canteen area was practically empty of drinks. They had to walk to the back room down the hall to give us warm drinks. She said she would refill the cooler that night but it was next day. Then barely put anything in there. No coffee on arrival. Things were empty unless u wanted just hot water for only tea. Nothing else. That lemon water was disgustingly that I spit it out. Anyone at the counter literally stayed on their personal phones all night long. One girl was babysitting. Another girl had her kid there riding all over the lobby in an office chair. Either stop or get ran over. The mother didn’t care. The ac in our room made such loud noise. I got no sleep. The door in and out of the room has a huge gap at the bottom so anyone could stick a cell phone under the door and see what was happening behind the door. Extremely dangerous. Elevators sounded and felt as if they wouldn’t make it up or down. Outside windows were nasty. I booked this hotel bc of ratings that must be fake and bc it had an indoor pool. Pool was useless. It was so cloudy u couldn’t see the bottom. Breakfast the next morning was terrible. Only one person to cook all the food. How does one mess up cooking grits? Ruined my appetite for the rest of the day. Asked for a late checkout for 1pm, out around noon we left and as I was leaving I overheard staff questioning when we were leaving. I took it as the girl who checked us made no note of our late checkout time. I will say you have plenty of options to eat from that are close by if they have people to work or if they’ll even let you in the door. One Waffle House said they were closed for cleaning at 8pm to come back later and Ruby Tuesday had no customers, no employees that were working and after waiting nearly 10 mins for 2 soft drinks we left. So all together was a bad experience, waste of money and I wouldn’t...
Read moreThe Good: walk in showers, hair dryer in the bathroom, free breakfast, friendly staff, in room fridge, microwave, and coffee maker, they got the bill correct the first time. The not so good: The rooms look like they have not been updated since the place was built - tattered furniture, lamps, peeling paint on bathroom ceiling and walls. The TV reception was not good and provides no way for you to use your own streaming service. I couldn't connect to the WIFI on my work laptop because it detected something that it thought was unsafe when trying to pull up the hotel log in web site (this doesn't happen at the airport or at the Hampton in Seneca). When you leave your room be sure to pull the door shut yourself as it will not fully close and lock. This is the second Hampton this has happened to me at. The other one I discovered it when I came back to my room at the end of the day. The cleaning people did not pull it shut and it was not locked. Any one could have gone in and stole my stuff or wait to rob me. Try to stay in a room with an even number. Mine had a odd number, and the noise from the highway can be loud making it hard to fall asleep if you are not used to that. People staying on the other side of the hotel told me they didn't notice it over there. I usually use the room heating and air unit to block out this type of noise by setting the fan to always stay on. Unfortunately, the HVAC unit is so old it doesn't allow for you keep the fan always on. Also, the fan was VERY noisy. You have to crank up the volume on anything you are listening to in order hear it over the fan. It also will not let you set it to "cool" only. So if the room is too cool and you turn it up a little and want to just naturally rise to that temperature, that is not going to happen. Instead the heat turns on to bring up the temp making you feel hot in the meantime. If they would update the rooms, furniture, TV services, WIFI, HVAC unit, and fix the doors so they fully close automatically, it would be a...
