The Standard at Columbia — Local services in Columbia

Enjoyed my time at the Standard from 2023-2024 when I was studying at the USC Darla Moore School of Business. They were able to let me move in two weeks early and I was able to get a parking pass.

Pros: great view of Columbia (lived in 1519; our living room had tons of windows so I was able to watch beautiful sunsets, fireworks all across the city during 4th of July, and some epic rainstorms) trash valet was an unexpected bonus loved the lobby area aesthetics the Butterfly app was super convenient to give codes to my friends to get into the building 6th floor was nice (although I didn't spend that much time there) package room was well organized convenient location monthly bug spray convenient app to get maintenance help loved that they installed vending machines on the 6th floor (although they were a little buggy)

Cons: the hallways and elevators weren't cleaned often enough every once in a while, the elevators would break or an alarm would trip and the firetrucks would shut down the elevators some dog owners were really inconsiderate, so I'm not sure how well management enforced their dog policies parking garage was convenient, but people were speed demons and I saw two completely wrecked cars because of how fast people drove around the corners, so just be careful going around the corners or pulling out. They did install those reflective mirrors to help so they took and acted on resident feedback. not the most soundproof of walls. It wasn't awful, but I could definitely hear my roommates and other apartment units even with the door shut. my personal room was a little small, but that's because of how large our living space is, so just pick a room with that in mind. I always had friends over, so that extra space in the living room and kitchen was great for hosting. I had friends that had much larger rooms, but we never hung out at their apartments.

Since I was there for the first year of opening, my rate was around $800 plus $100 for parking every month if I remember correctly. There are cheaper places in town, but I wasn't worried about bugs or mold with how new the building was, so it was worth it.

Overall, would recommend. I made some great memories with friends in our living room and kitchen. I also got my security deductible returned at the end...

DO NOT RENT WITH THE STANDARD OF COLUMBIA 🚩🚫 This Apartment Company is SCAM! If you are a student or just looking for luxury apartments in Columbia SC, this place is the LAST One I would recommend! After telling them that I will no longer be moving into the complex (and I have NEVER SEEN WHAT THE UNIT LOOKS LIKE IN REAl LIFE) , they are charging me the full lease agreement and signed me up for utilities under a company name “SimpleBills” and told me the ONLY way to break my lease w/o no consequences on my credit was to go on FACEBOOK MARKETPLACE and FIND someone on my OWN to take over my lease or else I would be responsible for the remaining FULL Year lease agreement of $19,360.90! I am a self qualifying student and I never paid a security deposit or anything. DO NOT RENT WITH THIS PROPERTY MANAGEMENT COMPANY . Btw the unit is 403sq ft. For $1700 a Month.. smh 👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾. Living here has been great so far! The only complaints I have is that the walls are a little thin, I can hear my next door neighbors tv at night (its not that bad though), and the doors to the halls from the apartment are a little light. I feel like when people are walking by, they can everything in my apartment. Also, my biggest complaint is that there is no shuttle to the campus, I understand that there is nowhere to park the shuttle during pick up and drop off, but there are 30 minute spots on the side of the building that I feel could be used as a shuttle area. Also, the part about the apartments being colorless, while this is true, the place is all gray, you are allowed to hang things, mount tvs, etc. and make it your own! But overall I would recommend this place! The maintenance team and management team are amazing, unmatched! The grounds are clean and always maintained well.
