After years of searching for the perfect salon and enduring a series of disappointing experiences, I found myself on the brink of giving up. Each visit to a different salon seemed to lead to more frustration, whether it was due to miscommunication, unprofessional staff, or simply not getting the results I desired. The journey to find a reliable hair salon felt more like a daunting task than an enjoyable experience, leaving me feeling disheartened. However, my fortunes changed when I discovered Metropolis Salon, and I couldn’t be happier with my decision! From the moment I stepped into Metropolis Salon, I was struck by its classy and neat appearance. The salon exudes a sense of sophistication that immediately caught my attention. The atmosphere is inviting, and I was welcomed with warm smiles from the staff. It felt like entering a sanctuary where my hair transformation could truly begin. The environment was clean and organized, which is something I value in any salon I choose to visit. Upon arriving, I was introduced to my hairstylist, Mariana Garcia. Right away, I was impressed by her demeanor; she was not only sweet but also exuded a fantastic personality that immediately put me at ease. I’ll admit, I felt a touch of nervousness at first. After all, I had experienced so many letdowns in the past; it was hard to believe that this time would be different. However, Mariana quickly alleviated my apprehension. I have NEVER been happier with my hair salon and stylist!! Before you read on, I am not one to leave reviews, even if I experience extremely poor service; Metropolis and Laura (amongst all of the stylists) deserve this!

First, the salon is so chic, offers amazing high-quality products, and even fun amenities such as a mimosa of the month! Admittedly, I came in one morning from having too much fun the night before, and thank goodness they had snacks to help me with that tired feeling (I guess you could say)! ☺️

Second, my stylist Laura is just the most genuine, kind, and talented human being I have ever met! I tell this to everyone when they ask me who does my hair. I am so picky about my hair and she makes me happy each and every time. I have NEVER left unhappy! To be in her chair is a lovely delight. You could sit down in the worst of moods, and she has a great way of hearing your story, show you empathy, but then making you feel better and happy after - it’s a real art outside of styling hair.

Sometimes I feel self-conscious coming in with no make-up on, but I never ever feel judged. Everyone is just so warm and welcoming.

The bonus? If your stylist isn’t available, they keep notes on your hair and/or dye and everyone is equally talented!! I had my fair share of bad hair cuts that left me crying, so I was nervous when I couldn’t see Laura. But! I was wrong to be nervous and my hair came out just as good.

I could go on and on, but I will stop here. Do I pay a little higher price than great clips? Yes. Have I paid a higher price for a worse salon and worse hair cut? YEP.

I love my Laura (I have admitted I’m dedicated to her and not just the salon lol), but everyone is great!

Around the end of last year, my hair was down around my shoulders in length, as I had not had a haircut in about a year. After reading many reviews, I decided to go to metropolis and get my hair cut by Sarah. I wanted to try a totally new style. Prior to my cut by Sarah, I had never really had a haircut that I was more than just okay with. For the first time in my life I can say I am sooo happy with my hair these past 6 months or so. I have had 4-5 haircuts in total with Sarah.

My first cut, I showed Sarah pictures of what I wanted, she listened very intently, and asked questions about specifics as we went. The haircut starts with a shampoo and hot towel, followed by the haircut, and then styling. Sarah has showed me how to style it myself exactly how she does, so that every day it looks as good as the day I get it cut. The interior of the building is extremely nice and the hairstyling products and equipment used are all of top notch quality. Sarah has told me about how metropolis will send their hairstylists to conferences around the country to continue to advance their skills and stay up to date with the best methods. It’s hard to imagine there is a more professional and upscale salon out there. Everyone has always been so friendly, and even complimentary beverages are offered. Even if I move away from Columbia, I will still come back to get my hair cut by Sarah.
