This is the hotel that my company has partnered with when I and my fellow remote workers come to Dallas. It's fairly close to our main offices (I think our longest Uber ride was 10 minutes). The shuttle from DFW was fairly quick- my group of 3 had to wait outside for about 10 minutes, but it was fine.
The hotel itself was fine. The lobby was spacious and clean, but not too echo-y like many other hotels. The staff was helpful and courteous. I had forgotten to request in advance that I have foam pillows instead of down/feather pillows due to allergies, and the front desk staff came up and sorted through the 4 pillows on the bed and removed the down ones I was allergic to before bringing back some foam ones for me.
For the rooms, there is an ABUNDANCE of outlets in the king standard room. I stayed for 4 days and was finding outlets on the morning that I checked out. The bed was cozy and very comfortable, as one would expect with a Marriott bed. Instead of a traditional desk, there was a small table with a "booth" that was perfect for sitting at to eat breakfast and work on a few things before going to the office. The rest of the decor in the room was very modern, but not as off-putting to me as other reviewers have mentioned.
The bathroom did not have a door to separate the shower/vanity from the rest of the room. There is a pocket door that separates the toilet area. The room that I was in had frosted glass surrounding the shower so there is some privacy, but not as much as one might be used to. It wasn't a problem for me since I was not sharing a room with anyone. The shower does NOT have a shelf to put your shampoo, soap or other toiletries, nor is there a place to hang a dripping washcloth inside the shower. The shower fan ran 24/7 even with the lights turned off. I mentioned it to the front desk staff on my second day before going to work and they said they would take care of it. It was still running non-stop when I checked out. It was loud and rattling, making it very hard to sleep.
The air conditioner was the worst thing about the room. The thermostat on the wall was difficult to control. The air conditioner operated like the ones in most of our homes, where it would shut off when the correct temperature was reached. Which would have been fine, if there was a fan in the room to circulate the air. When the air conditioner turned off, the room quickly became hot and stuffy. On my last night, the air conditioner died completely and started showing various error messages on the thermostat. My coworker in the next room said their AC also died around midnight that night. When I was getting ready in the morning, the room was hot, stuffy, and humid which made it extremely difficult to get ready. The thermostat said 74 even though I had it set on 67. I left my room an hour before my group had planned to meet in the lobby to go to work because I couldn't stand the heat. I told the front desk staff about the air conditioner and they said they had 4 other rooms that night with AC problems.
If the bathroom fan and air conditioner had functioned properly, I would've given this hotel a 5 star review. Hopefully when I return in the fall there won't be any issues and the owner will make all the necessary repairs for guests to experience the Marriott quality...

Read moreImagine booking this room 2 weeks in advance and then calling the hotel when your flight comes in to ask about the free airport shuttle and they tell you your room has been cancelled. Excuse me? I already paid for this room for 2 days. They had me marked as a “no show” after they did not try to call or email or anything to confirm. Apparently if you do not check in the same day they will cancel your hotel. I got the hotel from Friday to Sunday but my flight did not come in until 7am Saturday morning. Rather than having to sit at the airport with small kids and lots of luggage until 3pm to check in, I just bought the previous night. Simple right? Not according to the strict no show policy they have. So essentially my room was cancelled and my money will not be refunded. I am now disputing with my bank because this is absolutely ridiculous. The young lady on the phone was as nice as she could be but hands were tied. I even called my 3rd party vender I use for bookings to see about getting a waiver or credit or anything and the manager denied both. I was able to check in early at the Hilton thank god but this was extremely inconvenient. I travel and do this all the time because I travel for work and this has literally never happened to me. I will be reaching out to corporate to verify the specifics of this policy because I find it weird that no one from the hotel even tried to email or call the guest to verify they are coming before just cancelling. I will write this review literally anywhere I can find this hotel listed so that no one else traveling especially with children goes through this and loses money. This policy should at least include a confirmation email or phone number to the guest in question. I will also be removing this hotel from my companies preferred hotel lodging while in Texas and all other locations they have Aloft listed....
