This has been one of the hardest reviews for me to write, and I would really like it if google would give us the option to review the individual room - rather than the whole business.
We stayed from 9/24-9/26 in the King's Suite.
I'll break things down, first - the info about the room (This is why I gave it a low rating). Some of these things may seem a bit nit-picky, but for a nearly $300/night price-tag, I feel like I have the right to be nit-picky.
THE BAD:
There were several spiders in the room, which we were able to deal with, I saw responses about having the innkeeper deal with spiders, but that just seems like a waste of everyone's time - pest control services should be used to keep bugs out of the rooms.
The bed was WILDLY uncomfortable, this is a common theme in most modern hotels, so it's relatively normal, but it was so bad that I woke up nearly a dozen times at night from back pain.
There is only ONE bedside table, this is problematic for multiple reasons, but the biggest one is that we're both on CPAP therapy, I shouldn't have to use the luggage rack to hold a CPAP machine, there should be two bedside tables, one on each side of the bed.
The shower stall is in a very bad state of disrepair, the floor of the shower enclosure is cracked and had mildew everywhere. This made it very nerve-wracking to use, the fear of damaging the shower enclosure and being held responsible for that prevented me from using the shower at all.
The wall outlets near the right-hand side of the bed are VERY loose, I couldn't plug in anything to charge, and had to prop up my CPAP plug to get it to stay in.
The GOOD
The couch was very comfortable
The jetted tub was very clean, and even the jets/filter were in tip-top shape.
The billiards table was fun
The rooms were very quiet, so I think they have decent soundproofing.
Next I will talk about the STAFF and SERVICE, of which I only have GOOD things.
The Staff was friendly, the women at the front desk were incredibly helpful and patient.
The maintenance guy was amazing, he replaced the TV, which had the panel go out during our stay, in under 30 minutes.
The entire process was very painless, from check-in...
Read moreThe building was beautiful, but they are forgetting the details.||1. The bed sheets were rumpled, the mattress protestor was bunched and there was large, dark hair on the white sheets. Gross!||2. We stayed in the King's Lodge (the most expensive room in the Inn). There was no where to put our luggage except the floor, the pool table or the kitchenette table. It would be easy to add a dresser or credenza for luggage.||3. Breakfast was VERY disappointing. It was left outside our room, on the floor in Styrofoam containers that were in a tin bucket. Food should NEVER be placed on the floor! It was very small portions and not very appetizing.||4. The building security is confusing and not very secure. The doors are locked when the last guest checks in for the night, then the front desk clerk leaves. Each guest has a key that can open and lock the back door. It didn't feel like a safe option. ||5. The snacks in the room were ridiculous! A package of trail mix and 1 package of Famous Amos cookies. Good thing there are 2 cookies in a package for us to share...? How much of an expense would it be to have 2 packages of something? Also, the bottle water was sitting on the table. Couldn't that be placed in the mini fridge? Speaking of the fridge, we couldn't find it.... Finally, I found it on the floor (again with food on the floor!) of the closet. Am I supposed to put my suitcase on the the fridge? It was all very confusing! ||6. Threatening signage: there were signs all over the hotel (doors, check in and room) telling us of fees, do's and do not's, and threatening of expulsion from the property if we break any of their rules. It didn't feel welcoming. I felt like I was at my parents house. ||7. Lastly, the TV didn't move from the wall. That meant, unless you are sitting on the couch right in front of the TV, you can't see it anywhere else in the room. Not in the hot tub, not in the bed and not at the kitchenette table. ||||I was excited for our stay, but left disappointed. There are several other points I could bring up that show a lack of attention to detail, but they aren't really that big of a deal. It just cheapened the overall experience. I didn't feel like it was...
Read moreEverything about our start at The Castle Creek Inn was wonderful. The medieval theming of the inn transports you to a different time in history making this an extra fun night away. The lobby and dining room were beautiful with lantern lights, flags that draped from the ceiling, and suits of armor. The dining room offers snacks and drinks 24 hours of the day. During our stay that included freshly baked cookies, microwave popcorn, bottled water, coffee and tea. There were also games and DVD’s that guests could take to their room.||We stayed in the King’s Lodge which is the largest room on property, and it was wonderful. There was a king sized bed, leather couch (plus an additional couch that didn’t really serve a purpose for us. An oversized chair or dresser would make more sense), a gas fireplace, jacuzzi tub, stand alone shower, a dining table, and, the best of all, a full sized pool table! It was a magnificent room, and we can’t wait to return.||While there we had an opportunity to see a couple of the other rooms on property. These rooms were significantly smaller, but so cozy and quaint. For our next stay we plan to book the Garden room which has a semi-private patio with a table and chairs. Guests that are enjoying the grounds can walk by the patio, but it’s tucked away on the side of the building, amongst shrubbery and trees so I imagine not many guests would venture that way.||Breakfast consisted of pancakes or French toast, two eggs, two slices of bacon or sausage, and juice or water. It was served in a styrofoam container placed inside of a tin bucket. I think this would be much nicer if it was served on a tray or platter, however the bucket is cute. I’m just not a fan of the styrofoam. Fresh fruit or yogurt parfait options would also be a nice addition.||The outside grounds have a beautiful patio with tables, chairs, and a full sized grill for those who might like to cook. We enjoyed walking out back and sitting outside for a while.||There are lots of restaurants, gas stations, and supercenter stores within a few blocks making this a great location to stay for a night, or...
