Friday, October 8, evening (around 8pm, I think) I don't recommend this place, but it's not irredeemable. Maybe it was just an off day, or maybe they're just new and need to make a lot of adjustments. I don't know.

The shoyu broth's most prominent flavor was, strangely, green onion. I made sure to try everything before adding any additional seasoning, and green onion permeated the bowl. There wasn't much body to it. I ended up using the seasonings on the table more heavily than usual. Noodles were ok, not great, but not awful - about on par with Samyang's instant noodles. Portion was fine, about the same as you get everywhere around here. I got the titular Toro variety (you pick a broth, and then you pick a garnish set. Toro comes with beef short rib, soft boiled egg, corn, way too many green onions, and wavy noodles.) I want to say this about $14.

Karaage was weird... Very thin, like schnitzel, and was all white meat. Meat was very tender, but wholly lacked the crispiness you expect from karaage. It reminded me strongly of beer battered halibut for some reason.

Takoyaki was also off. I'm not looking for a cake pop here, but it was extremely wet inside, like the batter hadn't set at all.

In the end, my bill was pushing $30 for these three items. I didn't leave hungry, but I also didn't leave particularly happy that I'd stopped in. If you desperately need some ramen and you're right by the Walmart, it's functional enough. Do not go out of your way to come here, and don't bother with the takoyaki. In the relative area, I'd stick with Samurai...

I’m leaving a review for the new BLUFFDALE location.

This is the first restaurant that opened in my neighborhood, and I wanted to give it a try since I love Japanese food and grew up eating it. The staff there were very nice. I had a good conversation with one of the employees there. I appreciated that everyone that worked there were Asian - not necessarily Japanese, but had years of experience working at a Japanese restaurant.

The food is definitely on the above average/ pricey side especially for a bowl of ramen, but the flavors were there.

I ordered the Takoyaki for an appetizer to see if they’d do it right, and the flavor was yummy but there weren’t big pieces of octopus in each ball (one had a very tiny piece) and they were missing the seaweed and bonito flakes on top.

I ordered 2 rolls - the caterpillar and Spicy Salmon roll. Caterpillar had great eel flavor, and the spicy salmon roll had more salmon and avocado/ cucumber than I expected, which was great!

I ordered their to tonkotsu ramen, and the broth was delicious; not too salty and had a lot of depth to it. Portion size was average. I always feel like ramen places in Utah really skimp on the noodles and meat compared to other restaurants I’ve been to outside of the US.

Would I eat here again? Yes. I am looking forward to trying other rolls and ramen flavors. They are just on the pricey side (over 10$ per roll and $13 and up for ramen) , so Toro Ramen would definitely be a...

Another Ramen review for the books & this place did not disappoint! Went here with one of my friends who also is a big fan of ramen. Parking was easy, it is a small little place. We were able to get a table right away & service quickly. We ordered the Croquette’s to share. I’ve never had these. They were like a deep fried mashed potato type appetizer with some veggies in it. They were delicious! I’ll be looking for these on menus from now on. We shared an avocado roll as well. The avocado roll was so fresh. One of my favorite avocado rolls I’ve ever had. They brought us some complimentary egg rolls & these were good. I really liked the dipping sauce for these. I ordered the veggie ramen. I loved this ramen! One of my favorites I’ve had,  honestly. The miso broth was flavored to perfection. The shiitake mushrooms had really good flavor. Sometimes I’m a little weird with mushrooms in my ramen, but I really liked these mushrooms. I wish it came with a full egg, but I suppose I could have added in an extra egg. The ramen bowl was decent size for the price paid. Loved that they didn’t skimp out on the broth as well. Sometimes I feel like I run out of broth for my ramen, which is the worst. My friend ordered the Taro Ramen with tonkotsu broth and beef short ribs. She enjoyed this dish as well....
