Where do I start? Oh yeah — the shuttle van never showed up to pick me up from the airport. I ended up getting a ride from the Aloft hotel driver who was kind enough to take me since the hotel is nearby. That was the only positive part of this experience.||||When I arrived, I could immediately tell the place was sketchy. The smell when I walked in was awful — a mix of mustiness and body odor. I checked in and asked to be added to the shuttle list for the next morning. Despite claiming to have a 24/7 shuttle, I was told otherwise once I arrived — surprise.||||I headed to my room on the second floor and nearly gagged walking down the hallway because of how bad it smelled. But for $94 a night, I figured I’d just deal with it. That changed quickly when I got to the room. The sheets had visible yellow stains and what looked like dried semen. The bathroom was dirty, especially the tub. Worst of all — there was a dead cockroach on the floor that housekeeping clearly hadn’t bothered to clean up. At that point, I was completely disgusted and went straight to the front desk.||||I demanded a new room, which they gave me a few doors down. This one seemed cleaner, so I tried to settle in. But later that night, someone started banging on my door. It seriously frightened me. I called the front desk and they acted clueless, like I was making it up. I barely slept the rest of the night, constantly on edge thinking someone might try to come back.||||As for food options? There really aren’t any decent ones nearby. There’s a weird “Asian country” place that felt creepy — I walked in and it was totally empty. There’s a fast-food spot, but the area had homeless people hanging around and just didn’t feel safe.||||To top it all off, the shuttle still didn’t show up in the morning, so I had to take a Lyft to my destination.||||Avoid this hotel at all costs. Unreliable shuttle, filthy rooms, poor service, and an overall unsafe and...
Read moreA detailed pros and cons of my stay this weekend at the Candlewood Suites near Dallas Love Field.
Pros:
they offer an airport shuttle from Dallas Love Field. The shuttle driver was an older man who was really friendly.
the check in process was smooth and efficient. I had arrived early at about 1:30pm and was advised the room was still being cleaned and should be ready in a few minutes and to have a seat in the lobby. Every few minutes I was provided an update on where they are holding. After about 15 minutes at 1:45pm the room was ready.
the room had a working full size kitchen and very comfortable bed.
Cons:
the hotel is in middle of nowhere. If you come here without a car - like I did, you will not be able to walk anywhere. There is no sidewalk outside the hotel and it’s off the road from a busy highway.
speaking of the highway, the windows of this hotel are not very good at soundproofing and you constantly hear the sound of the cars and trucks down below.
the air conditioner remote did not sync with the air conditioner. So you need to adjust the actual air conditioner if you want a different temp.
the TV is the dated version that does not have a digital menu guide. So you must scroll from channel to channel to see what is currently playing.
the room was not fully cleaned before arrival. I put the recliner in recline position, and when I did, a cigarette lighter popped out. That also leads me to believe that someone smoked in this non smoking room.
while soap is provided for the kitchen area, there was no sponge to clean the dirty dishes with.
Overall:
I would give this hotel an average 3/5 ranking. The hotel is comfortable and the service was friendly. However due to the above listed cons, it cannot get a higher rating.

Read moreIf you are booking this hotel for practicality - don't. I booked this hotel mainly because of the practical shuttle from and to the DFW Airport. I called and emailed about it a day before my arrival to make sure to not have any unpleasant surprises like no shuttle at my arrival since I am coming such a long way, no US phone provider etc. The staff told me to call the hotel when I land and they would accommodate a shuttle - I did just that. I was put on hold for 15 minutes and then they hung up. Having a limited foreign phone plan, unfortunately I could not call them back - this explains my email and call PRIOR to me landing here. I ended up having to pay 35 dollars for an 8 minute taxi ride from the airport to Candlewood Suites. Upon my arrival I told the woman at the front desk about the shuttle/taxi situation and that because they left me hanging on hold, I paid 35 dollars for such a short ride. She replied to me that there's nothing she could do about that she was busy, it's not her fault. As she is telling me these words she answers the phone to attend to another client and tells them she "won't be able to speak to them for a minute because it's check-in time right now and I have a long line", so I turn around to see the ONE other guest behind me that is waiting to check-in. Her and her manager refused to refund me the 35 dollars I paid for the taxi and said "I should have just called again" which is so unprofessional from them especially since I did reach out through email and phone a day before my trip because I knew my phone would have limited calls in the US. I'm sure this hotel would be fine if they hired competent, professional staff members that know how to do their job and not people that get overwhelmed with a 2 client line. I will never be...
