BEWARE: Not sure what hotel the pictures on the website were taken at, because the motel is nothing like them. We stayed on a lower level king room checking in later at night after being on the road all day. Immediately upon entering the room, we were met with the moldy/ urine, smell. I wanted to leave, but my husband convinced me to stay being it was so late at night and we just wanted to sleep. The room "seemed" clean, but I slept without the covers being there was a half dollar sized stain on the center duvet. BUT...that's just the beginning. At 3am...the smoke detector over or bed started to chirp, every 30 seconds. We called the front desk, they said maintenance would not be in until after 8am, and offered no assistance. My husband suggested a new battery, which the front desk did bring to the room...but did not offer any other assistance again. Of course, this did not work...so we called back, only to be told just to hit the re-set button on the detector. Should I add, my husband is a fireman?
We had to ask for another room, this was never offered or suggested by the front desk. They did move us...to the room next door....where we could STILL HEAR the chirp from the smoke detector. At this point, we were so tired, we slept for 2 hours and packed to leave.
But wait, there's MORE....
Prior to leaving, we went to the lobby for coffee and the "hot" breakfast. The one coffee pot (yes only one coffee pot) was empty (the attendant said she couldn't make more coffee until the pot was empty) and we waited about 10 minutes to get coffee. They also no longer offer a hot breakfast because of COVID. Um, I've stayed in several hotels the past year, and they all serve the hot breakfast now. Did I mention, the staff was NOT wearing masks? So if COVID was an issue for them, why were they not wearing masks? They had a poor selection of a packaged sweet roll and yogurt.
I hate leaving a bad review, but this place deserves the 1 star review. The staff was unwelcoming, unhelpful and the facility is not well kept or clean. Do yourself a favor and stay at the Comfort Inn across the highway...its VERY nice for just a little extra. I want to add we used points on this stay and filed a complaint. We were only credited 10,000 of the 16,000 points we used to stay. Not cool on Choice Hotels part. We will be using our Wyndham and Hilton accounts...
Read moreThis has been the place to stay on family vacations to and from Michigan and Florida since 2011 and I've continued to stay here on my recent work trips.
This Quality Inn has always been a reliable, clean, and value-friendly choice that has remained consistent all these many years, even through the pandemic. They even updated their rooms, so that was a much needed and welcomed change.
My most recent stay was no different. The room was clean and the bed was comfy enough for the price. I would never say the stays have ever been entirely peaceful, just due to the design and placement of the building but it's nothing I can fault them for. The walls aren't particularly thick, so be prepared for noise from loud neighbors and slamming car doors in the parking lot.
It's within walking distance to the Chili's which is incredibly convenient for food options, but depending on the day of the week and time it can be a little noisy and busy. Of course there are plenty of other food options off College Dr, including some fast food and a Red Lobster on the opposite side of the intersection.
This Quality Inn is pet friendly and they have always been accommodating and reasonable with pet fees whenever I've had to bring my pup. Just also keep that in mind that you might hear some stray barks from other dogs while you're trying to sleep.
They offer breakfast, which I can't comment on as I haven't opted for it the last few times I was here, but I do remember it being pretty decent.
It's not a Holiday Inn, but neither is the price. And while you do get what you pay for, after driving for 9hrs straight all I want is an inexpensive, clean place to lay my head and this Quality Inn has always checked that box and it will continue to be my choice on all my...
Read moreI was very disappointed that a hotel with this high of a rating had so many issues.
Parking is not well laid out and was full from the other nearby hotels and restaurant.
Checking into our two rooms took too long as the clerk seemed overwhelmed with the process. She was more worried about how many people we would have in each room than getting us to those rooms after our long drive.
Cobwebs in the bedroom and closet area of my room were immedately noticeable. The A/C and fan in my room would only run for a minute or so then cut off abruptly. It never did stay running or cool the room. I called the desk and was told they had no other rooms available.
I received a call from the desk slightly after 11am the next morning asking if we were checking out or staying another night. I explained that at check in I was assured that a noon check out was no problem since I was a Choice Platinum member. The clerk said she saw no note of this.
As we were moving our baggage out around 1140am we found that our keys were deactivated. We would have been lock out had the automatic door closer on our adjoining room not been broken. Luckily we had not locked the pass though doors.
I advised the clerk of the physical problems and she pulled out a notebook presumably to make repair notes. She made no effort to address my complaints and when I told her I was going to give this bad rating she just said "sorry". A housekeeping staff member standing there was just looking at us shaking her head.
I come to Dalton often to see family and will never stay here again. There are many other hotels in this price gang or cheap nearby. The high rating fooled me this time but...
