This is our second stay here and have enjoyed ever stay here, despite a few hiccups, all but one was remedied. The location is great; beach is right there, restaurants nearby, short drive to the main Daytona Beach area and most of all close proximity to the markets, race track and Orlando. Breakfast was great, good verity. The lobby area was well taken care of to prevent slips. The staff was very helpful upon arrival to departure. All the rooms have balconies looking out onto the beach. Great sun rises. Beach is easy access from the hotel yet they still provide a pool. Had a problem with the shower which was fixed later that day. Overall, the stay was great. Good place for small families. A little overpriced but worth it. Thank you staff and Alice.
The biggest problem was our last night there. A church group of almost 100 kids took over the hotel, there went the quietness, kids were yelling from the balcony, throwing stuff down from their rooms to the patio, running up and down the walk-way banging on doors, our phone rang several times during the night only to hear sorry wrong room. And to top that they all were in the breakfast area hanging around not letting other customers use the tables for breakfast along with food shortages. I talked to the manager and you could tell she was overwhelmed with the situation along with other complaints. And for all the problems occurring with the kids, food shortage, no seating and being kept up most of the night cause of the phone ringing all we got was the parking fee removed off the bill. Nine dollars a night to park in the parking lot. Why? I’m a Platinum Elite member; once you hit the Elite levels you should be exempt from this fee. Should get more in either dollars or points returned for the last night, sleepless in Daytona.
You are located in south Daytona Beach away from the main area which makes it a little quieter area, less noise and not as crowded. You are within 60 to 90 minutes from Kennedy Space Center and of course Orlando. We’ve learned from several trips to Daytona Beach is DON’T take Interstate 4 to Orlando, traffic is horrible, very crowded with construction and you must go through downtown Orlando to get to the Disney Park area. If you want to bypass all the Orlando stuff the best route and quicker is to get on I-95 south go to HI Way 407 (exit 212) going west which will merge you onto Hi Way 528 westbound. After a while you’ll come up on Hi Way 417 take this south (it will later curve to the west), after a few miles it will merge into 536 this will take you right to the Epcot entrance, Disney Hotels and Disney Springs.
Recommendation: Have better control of the large groups that stay and please replace the toilets, they are kiddie sized, (very small) and average adult, i.e. male has problems utilizing it. Put oval type in with...
Read moreI write this review taking into account that I stayed during a holiday week and the day before New Years’ Eve. The hotel was fully booked. I first stayed here a week last year for a getaway and fell in love with the property. It is not a 5 star property and I knew that going in, but the fact that every room has an oceanfront balcony fully makes up for that. I was visiting the area again, and looked forward to getting one night on the beach and was very happy they had one room left!
I stay at IHG properties throughout the year mainly for business so I am accustomed to the 3pm or earlier check in time. However, when I arrived at this property around 3:30pm, I was told my room was not ready and they did not know when it would be. They would call me when it was ready. What am I supposed to do? Sit in the lobby? I put all my stuff back into the car and went to eat. 2.5 hours later and no call, I returned to the property and was told my room still was not ready.
To me, this is unacceptable. I realize they were busy and fully booked, but good management should have prepared better with more employees on hand to handle the increased bookings and get rooms turned around. I paid more than what this room was really worth (again being a holiday week) and was not able to enjoy it to its’ full value. The sun was already down by the time I got up to my room - so no enjoyment of the view whatsoever.
I asked for an extra late checkout considering the situation and was only offered 1pm as an option. This dumbfounded me seeing as how I had to wait almost 3 hours past the expected check in time to check in. The next morning, housekeeping banged on my door at 10:30am and before I could even answer, they used their key and tried to enter. What the heck. I told them that I was there until 1pm. They had no idea. Where is the communication from management here? And why are they trying to clean my room BEFORE the normal checkout time? Does their system already show me as checked out? IS THERE EVEN A SYSTEM?
The staff was polite, but I could tell they were handling a lot being fully booked. Again, I think management should have been better prepared and been willing to go above and beyond to make my stay better.
I will stay here again because I love the views and quiet environment, but please do a better job planning ahead and meeting the need of the customer (such as offering a later checkout or extra reward points or even some money returned).
I would also love an actual reply from management, not a copy and paste generic reply as I see on all the other posts. This is very low quality in my opinion - meaning they don't really care about the...
Read moreI had a last minute trip come up that brought me to the area. The price of an Airbnb with all the fees attached plus not being able to stay on the beach wasn’t an option this time around. I kept looking around for a few days, and then this hotel popped up for a very reasonable price right on the beach with an ocean view that was not far over the bridge. My dad lives south of here so being on the south end of Daytona was ideal for us.
There was a small parking fee, but there was always parking and it was easy to come and go. The pool was under construction while we were there being redone which kind of stunk, but we did have the beach. It honestly was so hot we didn’t even last long outside.
Our room was clean, but my one complaint would be around whatever was sprayed to give a fresh smell. It was just a bit too strong. I like fresh, but without a side of headache.
Other than that, the air worked great and gave a white noise sound helping us to sleep. The ocean balcony was so relaxing and nice. The water pressure in the shower was strong. There was a mini fridge, microwave, and Keurig with several options, and a normal size dryer that was detached opposed to those small ones that smell like they are about to catch fire in 2 seconds.
There was also a free breakfast that I found quite impressive. There were options for several different eating habits (healthy, gluten free, and “I don’t care”). They had egg white omelettes with some small veggies (very good), another egg option (one day scrambled and another was an egg omelette with cheese), several meat options, toasts/bagels/muffins, fresh pancakes, cinnamon rolls, gluten free options (I didn’t pay much attention), boiled eggs, yogurts, cereal, etc. I was impressed, and it was delicious. People were quite savage for the bacon.
The beach access is to the side of the hotel. There are public restrooms available, and a shower to wash off which was conveniently located for us. Walking on the beach was fun in the evening. We got to see an amazing moon that night! I was told by a member of staff you can get $150 ticket for using your phone flashlight on the beach at night because of the sea turtles. I can’t remember now if it was because they won’t come ashore due to the light or something to do with them hatching and going to the water. Anyway, something to be mindful of.
The staff was very nice. Everything was very easy. I would...
