Monkey Business Beachside Bar — Restaurant in Daytona Beach Shores

As locals who are always looking for a new spot to support and potentially become regulars multiple nights a week, we were really hoping Shrunk or Monkey Business would be a great find. Unfortunately, we left extremely disappointed.

When we arrived, the bartender stared at us for several minutes without greeting or acknowledging us. It was actually the barback who eventually came over to help. Even after that, the bartender and other staff would occasionally glance at us but never made any real effort to be welcoming. It made for a really uncomfortable atmosphere.

The one bright spot of the night was the musician playing — he was incredibly talented and honestly the only reason we stayed as long as we did.

That said, if you’re going to have a local bar staff, it would help to have people who actually want to create a welcoming environment, especially for new faces. The staff spent more time glued to their phones than engaging with the guests. We even saw another couple leave — same reason: great music, terrible service.

We wanted to love this place, but sadly, we won’t be back. We hope management considers hiring staff who are excited to bring people in, not...

Jen was the best bartender I've had in an extremely long time. Her personality was awesome. She's just beautiful. (One female to another) Another Jen and Rich happened to stop by and after speaking I found out they were the owners. When I tell you they were so down to earth... it was a pleasure meeting them!! And I'll definitely be back. They told me about the rock n roll bingo can't wait!! CAUSE I LOVE ROCK N ROLL!! Anyone local should stop by. Also if you're visiting definitely plan to stop by there. Tuesday is karaoke, and Rock n Roll Bingo!! Before hand. There's pool tables, darts, games, sports bar atmosphere with a twist!! And definitely check out the unique details when you sit at the bar.
