POORLY RUN. Tip in cash and please leave it on the table. This place cant keep good help because the owner's keep a ton of the server's tips. The loose change from a bill never makes it to the tip jar unless the customer puts it there, they just keep it in the register. We watched it happen time and time again. No server past or present has EVER seen the credit card tip amount. Consensus is she makes it up. It was always an even number, which is unlikely. I was stopped in my tracks trying to look one day after the numbers just didn't jive to myself and my coworker. The owner also participates in the tip pool, taking an even portion!! Dept. Of Labor says this is a big NO NO for owners and managers even when they wait tables. Keeping your own tips is one thing, taking a portion of those who dont make a full minimum wage and depend on tips to make that up is another!! For example on a busy weekend she took a two table section, (we were down a server)the other server and myself had a 5 table section while being constantly yelled at to get the people at the counter seats and the walk in to go orders while answering the phone for to go orders as well. At the end of the day the OWNER took a third of the tips. It happened 2 days in a row. On days it was just one server and the owner STILL an even split. Insult to injury they make the servers pay for mistakes and even things like an accidentally broken coffee cup. 5 bucks for a cup how old anyway, Really??? Please dont support a business that does honest hard working people this way. Certainly...
Read moreGreat parking lot with plenty of space. We went on a Sunday morning and there were no lines. Beautiful fresh atmosphere/dining room with large bathrooms that are just as clean and fresh and pretty. Everything was well lit. Lots of space for sitting. Great change of pace from most overly crowded spaces in Daytona. Definitely wheel chair accessible.
We ordered a sweet tea and a chocolate milk. I normally love extra sweet but both were a little too far for me. The chocolate milk had several tablespoons of chocolate syrup drizzled in the glass... but think a single swirl would have been enough. I like my sweet tea to taste like diabetes, but even I was tempted to ask for a half-n-half sweet to unsweet. Both were still good and had good flavor.
The breakfast was fresh and perfectly cooked to order. I ordered soft bacon and eggs over hard and they were on point. The fruit was fresh and nicely cut. The pancake was seasoned and accompanied with a real pat of whipped butter.
The place got busier as we ate, but the parking lot never filled up. We waited a while and a check never came, so we assumed we were supposed to just walk to the checkout counter to settle the bill. The man asked for our ticket and we didn't have one. It was easily fixed by asking where we sat. This was really the only real issue we had and it was easily fixed.
Definitely the best restaurant we ate at for the duration of our week-long stay. We...
Read moreI went here specifically for bagels, figuring that would be their specialty, as they claim, 'REAL' New York bagels. I'm from New Jersey, and how I miss bagels from back home, if you're from up North you know what I mean. Now I currently work at a coffee shop where we have New York bagels, and I personally make them. Now had I known before hand I needed a dozen bagels I would have just made them where I work but it was last minute and our shop doesn't open until the afternoon on Sunday's, but I digress, I wanted fresh warm, crispy on the outside, soft and chewy in the middle bagels. I went around 9:30am thinking that was still early to catch fresh bagels. Well what I did eat was NOT what I expected. It was like a Thomas' Bagel straight out of the plastic bag. A little soggy on the outside and dry bread in the middle. Very disappointed in their 'REAL' New York Bagels. However my son ordered a scrambled egg breakfast with bacon and hash browns and it was good. Sitting at the counter watching them cook is enteraining and gives it an old diner feel from back home, just wish their bagels were what I had hoped. Guess I'll just have to make sure I make my bagels from scratch where I work...
