This hotel is deceitful. Looks clean and brand new. However, it was literally thrown together. Upon checkout I informed the staff of blood being on the closet door frame they were nonchalant. Ok, so let me first say that I came in to town for my bday. Got in late, no biggie. I am a titanium member I usually am greeted with either points, a gift bag or $10/ day per person during my stay. Neither was offered and front desk wasnt aware of it, said she would have manager check into it in the am. Ok, so we get to room everything looks clean and new, but the toilet is running non stop and won’t flush and keeps clogging. You can see hand prints at the top of the wall from contractors not cleaning up during final finishes. The phones weren’t plugged in correctly so we assumed they didn’t work, but I put them in correctly so that was a quick fix. You can tell they rushed to just get it opened. Their security who drives around the parking lot at night was a pregnant female.. sigh. We call front desk in the a.m. about the toilet because its late and we go to bed. Front desk was very polite, asked if we would like a new room and brought the new door keys to us. She was very accomodating the entire stay. I do have to say the staff had great customer service and was polite the entire time. It was only when we left and informed them of the issues they didnt seem concerned. Ok now we get to our new room. All the bedding is inside out, the side lamps on the bed didnt work, there was blood on the door frame and not just a little bit and also there was no cover over the exhaust fan. This is why i say they rushed and didnt do a final walk through. We literally noticed the blood the morning of our departure and I was so upset because there is no telling if I touched it previously. The rooms are dim and dark so the side lamps were necessary. However, they didn’t function for us. I do not recommend. This was the newest and most problematic Marriott I have...
Read moreI checked in this hotel one evening and within 20 minutes I checked out. The rooms are outdated, and a little beaten up with dings and scratches on most commonly used surfaces. The room had issues that could have been bearable but the person working the Front Desk was the reason I left. He was not helpful at all, rude, and didn't offer any help to my frustration - I asked for a suitcase luggage rack and his response was “No hotel has that not even Residence Inn across the parking lot”. A simple “Sorry we don’t have/offer those” would have been enough. I also asked for an extra chair to be brought to the room, a dining chair or office chair, and he goes “No I can’t”, and I ask “Why not?”, and his response was “I can’t steal another chair from another room”. Honestly I was shocked by that reply, I wasn’t asking for him to steal.
He saw how frustrated I was and offered absolutely nothing, not even a “sorry”. And to make things worse, for those 20minutes I stayed he charged me for the 1 night AND said “I also need to charge you an early check out fee”. I was furious at this point and just wanted to leave. The Residence Inn was a walking distance away on the other side of the parking lot and that’s where I stayed instead.
UPDATE: The next morning the lady at the Front Desk was very nice, and the General Manager was very polite as well. They both said sorry after I had explained my horrible interaction with the person manning the Front Desk from the night before. They apologized and completely refunded everything.
I was not asking for a refund but honestly having good hospitality and good people skills MATTERS. That person at the Front Desk needs to work on his people skills and how he interacts with customers. He did not represent Marriott well at all and it...
Read moreDiamond member denied access due to not having ID. Had 3 other pieces of identification, that all included name, photo, address (real estate license, CPL gun registration licenses, medical Marijuana license). Also had a photo of the unexpired license which was offered to send to the hotels email in addition to all the other forms of ID that matched the reservation. Receptionist Moses, and the manager he called at 10:30pm declined. We were in the process of moving and had a very long day. It's past 10pm and going to another hotel would be cumbersome. Lastly, with my years of hotel experience as a receptionist at various branches, to turn a guest away for something like this is uncalled for, given the amount of identification. Obviously Marriott doesn't train its employees about member status and how you treat loyal members vs. someone off the street trying to make a reservation. Marriott will be my last choice moving forward.
Advice- night auditors are fill in managers. Managers resolve customer issues to keep them loyal to chain, be it a restaurant, hotel, or any business. Idk what he told the manager for the manager to even say it was not ok, but whatever. That's my review.
(Went back home to dig through junk to try to find the ID that got lost. Couldn't find it. So, it is now an hour after that happened, and we just have to figure something else out) So yea, 1 star due to the lack of dependability. (The reservation was even made through the member portal.)
And it's also right around the corner from the hood, in case you worry about these kinds of things. The city says dearborn but it's right on the edge. Hopefully my review helps others make better decisions about choosing...
