We were subjected to unwarranted harassment.
My daughter and I had booked a luxurious suite comprising two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a spacious living room, and a fully equipped kitchen for a single night. My granddaughter and a few of her friends expressed a desire to enjoy the swimming pool facilities. The check-in process proceeded smoothly, allowing me to check in at 2:30 pm, while my daughter arrived with the young girls, aged between 11 and 14, at 3 pm.
However, the situation abruptly deteriorated later in the evening. At approximately 5:30 pm, as we were heading towards the pool area, the manager intercepted us and informed us that a strict limit of six individuals was allowed in the pool. Despite our group consisting of only five people, the manager told us to “just stay over there so the owner don’t see you and kick you out!”. The girls and I were understandably perplexed by this encounter, but I chose to ignore it. This can be witnessed on camera.
Later, around 9 pm, I phoned the front desk to request clear bags and a vacuum cleaner. When I arrived at the front desk, the individual who responded, whom I shall refer to as "SAM", requested that I complete a form and provide an additional debit card to hold on file. When I inquired about the purpose of the form, SAM mentioned regulations against smoking and drinking and partying within the premises and said there would be a 30-day hold on the funds. I told him I don’t smoke or drink, and there is no party. I also told him there was already a $400 hold placed on the card when I checked in. As I was leaving, he asked for my daughter's address because her name and card were on file. Feeling suspicious, I excused myself with no intention of returning, deeming his requirements excessive. We were alarmed to find that an unauthorized attempt by Resident Inn Detroit to charge $30 at 10:43pm and $10 at 3:04am. Thankfully, the bank declined both transactions. My daughter plans to have this investigated.
At approximately 12:30 am, we received an unexpected call from SAM, questioning whether we had contacted the front desk. My daughter assured no one called and that everyone was asleep. He asked my daughter if she heard any children running around. My daughter said she didn’t hear any children running around.
To our dismay, the next morning and according to the morning manager, SAM had been calling other guests on the third floor, asking them if they heard any noise coming from our room.
In the meantime, we were subjected to a noisy dog constantly barking in room 314 every time we walked by.
The breakfast attendant also exhibited discourteous behavior. When I requested syrup, he reacted by slamming the kitchen door in my face. I waited a few minutes and knocked on the door again. He opened the door with annoyance and mumbled something under his voice. I asked for the syrup again and asked him not to slam the door in my face again. He eventually provided me with a sticky jar of syrup, deliberately leaving the lid loose. As I reached for the syrup, the lid fell off, indicating his intentional act of defiance. This unpleasant encounter has left a lasting impression, and I have resolved never to patronize this Marriott establishment again. We were undeserving of such mistreatment. All this can be seen on...
Read moreIt was my son's birthday so we stayed at this hotel because it was close to home and offered an indoor pool, plus I'm a Bon Voy member. We stayed for the entire weekend. And we had an awesome time. We actually stayed in a suite, because I wanted to cook my son a birthday dinner. The kitchen was fully equipped with eveything that I needed to prepare his meal from: pots and plates, to knives and forks. The staff was very helpful and friendly also. The shower was unique and even had a fold down shower chair within it. And I provided a picture and you can see that I'm taller than the bathroom doorway.
The pool was extremely cold even though it was 86° outside, so we didnt stay inside of it for too long.
On the second day at the hotel we had to move to different suite because both of our televisions s went out in our rooms, so they had to move us. The pictures that I provided are from the first suite that we occuiped and loved. The first suite offered some privacy away from the children because their bed, that let out from the couch, was located inside of the living room space with its own tv and our bedroom was separate with its own tv also. The second suite had everything in one room and you had to share the tv with the children by turning it on its swivel and that ment that only one side of the room could see it. The only disappointment about the first suite was that it offered a half closet that was very low to the ground which I provided a picture of.
Also, because of my job I stay at hotels all over the nation and Marriots to be exact that why I'm Bon Voy memeber. And this was the first time I had to sign papers about my room before I could occupy it. And also this was the only hotel that held my $200 incidental fee for...
Read moreI recently stayed at the new Residence Inn Detroit Dearborn, while there are some positive aspects, there are a few notable drawbacks that need to be addressed. The rooms themselves are spacious and well-appointed, offering a nice balance of comfort and convenience. They have a modern feel, and the layout is great for both short and extended stays. The staff was friendly and accommodating, which was a nice touch to the overall experience. The fitness center is much nicer than the other hotels that I stayed in KY. However, the shower water pressure is disappointingly low, making for a less-than-ideal shower experience. Additionally, the shower leaks onto the floor, which is a bit of a safety hazard and definitely detracts from the overall bathroom experience. Another downside is the breakfast, which offers very minimal options. While it serves the basics, there's not much variety, and it felt a bit lackluster for a hotel of this caliber. A more diverse spread would have been appreciated, especially for guests staying multiple nights. The cleanliness and upkeep of the rooms could use improvement. While the rooms are nice, they feel like they’re not getting the attention they need in terms of regular maintenance and cleaning. The hallways, floors, stairs are not vacuum as it should, which isn’t ideal when you’re expecting a pristine environment. Laundry dryers were also problematic, as they did not properly dry clothes, which led to unnecessary hassle during my stay. Lastly, the rooms are not well-insulated. I could hear a lot of outside noise, and it seemed like sounds from the hallways and other rooms carried quite easily. This could be bothersome for...
