Planet Fitness — Local services in Detroit

PLEASE READ TO THE END AND TAKE SERIOUSLY! I had a horrible experience which was very disturbing at this planet fitness location! I had a membership a while back and I decided to renew it recently. I was working out with my 13 year old brother and when we were finished with our workout I went in the locker room to take a shower there so I can head to work right after. As I got dressed in the showers and was leaving a guy stopped me near the exit of the locker room and complimented my shoes. He said he has good deals on shoes and I should “hit him up”. I didn’t care but he insisted and I was in a hurry so I texted him my number. Two days later I was at that gym when he messages me and asks if I’m at planet fitness as if he sees me. He says he needs to call me and not comfortable saying what he wanted to say through messages. It was a weird situation from someone I have never met or seen before. I tell him to call me and he answered the phone by saying “yo bro do you want to sell me your gym socks?” I was disgusted by what I was hearing and when I made sure of what he was referring to and that I’m speaking to a sick person, I started cussing at him on the phone. He proceeded by saying that he was watching me in the planet fitness showers that day from behind the curtain when I was showering and he will put me on blast! He threatened that he has pictures from a camera that he had installed in there. I felt blackmailed and violated! Especially that my family goes to that gym and my 13 year old brother! I decided to immediately get my brother and go to the front desk. I informed them of everything and they said they don’t have access to cameras to identify the individual until the manager arrives that day at 2 o’clock. They put his phone number in the system to see which picture he had on profile and it was a picture of an older lady. Which means he was entering their gym under someone else’s profile! They did not care at all and laughed about it. I left to make a police report and came back at 2 o’clock to speak with the manager. I met the assistant manager “Darrin”. He seemed young, very rude and still half asleep. He obviously did not have the credentials of a manger at all. He said he will review the cameras but he has to hear the other person’s side of story. Keep in mind he doesn’t know the other person’s name, description or phone number. After going back and forth he said that he’ll give me a call. The second day he give me a call and said that he can’t do anything about it and tells me I can do whatever I want and hangs up while I was still speaking to him. I canceled my membership at planet fitness and I do not advice anyone that has children or care about their privacy to go to that gym especially that location on Ford Road in Detroit / Dearborn. There might be cameras in the showers and definitely some sick men claiming to be all manly and muscular but have sickening actions that would land them in prison where they...

Personally this was my first time going to this location and I don’t expect a lot from planet fitness but the staff was so disrespectful and rude I couldn’t go without saying anything! First when I walked in nobody was there to check me in even though an employee was at the front so I scanned myself in without their assistance. Then the treadmills stop buttons are so loose at this location they just stop on their own I could not keep a consistent run, asked the front desk for tape to fix the machine while I finished working out which they assisted me with that. The dilemma occurred when I went to the front to check a friend in with me, planet fitness makes it seem so easy to bring a guest then they want them to sign up for twenty minutes. When the app and the link I was sending to my guest didn’t work I asked Keshon could she check in as a guest because the app wasn’t working. He said no and continued to have my friend sign up on an iPad that didn’t work then sign up again on her phone. This is annoying and frustrating when you invite someone to the gym and it was weird he was so concerned about making sure my friend was properly checked in but didn’t take the time to scan me in earlier or even check to see if I properly scanned myself. Honestly I wasn’t upset with Keshon I saw it as a clerical error and was gonna let it be just that until Emily started staring at me and giving me dirty looks. So I simply ask her if there’s something she wants to help us with and she turns away with a dirty look but she doesn’t stop! I continue to ask why she’s focused on me when there’s customers to be scanned in and Keshon instructed me that it’s inappropriate and I ask how with no reply. Proceeded to wrap up my workout and I get to interact with the nasty manager Stephanie as well I go into the locker rooms to shower and change when Stephanie puts down a yellow cone in the entry way of the showers and dressing rooms, I kindly ask if showers are closed and she responds rudely no while looking confused. All in all worst experience at planet fitness and looking for a new gym home...

Signed up yesterday 10/11/2023. The guy at the front desk had me fill up the application for a black membership. I have been a member of planet fitness before and I know they take a picture of you when you sign up. The guy wasn’t busy but he either was talking on his head phone or didn’t feel like working and I can tell from his look. I even walked passed by him and worked out and my mom with me and didn’t ask to get a picture of me. I even asked him for 2 passes for hydro massages and didn’t tell mabout the guest policy that they have to sign them up before entering. So far I have no issue. Until I came back today to workout, after I was done, My mom came over to pick me up and asked me to use the bathroom. LYRIC wouldn’t let her in TO USE THE BATHROOM saying that she has to sign up first. I explained to her that she is in a rush and if she could do the sign up process after she uses the bathroom. She literally said NO, she has to sign up first. Even STEPHANIE the MANAGER came over backing up her employees, saying that I walked passed the guy without taking a picture. I mean ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!??? I signed up. I worked out with my mom And even got two hydro massages He DIDN’T WANT TO WORK. I can tell when someone doesn’t want to work. All this because they wouldn’t let my mom to use the bathroom and maybe she can sign up for guest after. Had me walk out to get my license when I first walked in to get a picture of me and insisted on that and said fine But wouldn’t let my mom to use the bathroom because she is an older lady and needed to use the bathroom. Had me walked out again to get her ID, and in the end, they were so happy that they followed their policy and were amazing to ruin someone’s day. Literally they were laughing when I walked out. The worst management I’ve ever seen, starting from the girl named LYRIC and STEPHANIE the manager was even worse and racist. Blaming me that I walked passed by the guy.
