This place is outstanding! The hosts are beyond attentive and kind, the building is SO beautiful, the beds are remarkably comfortable, rooms are equipped with everything you might need for comfort and the bathroom is amazing!!! Everything is super clean. All the rooms are different, ours had a huge bathroom with a modern clawfoot tub and a huge glass shower, absolutely lovely! We had our morning coffee in the living room which is beautiful both in construction and decor, and filled with the most wonderful huge windows so flooded with light. Many of the many chandeliers are antiques and beautifully cared for so they sparkle and shine wonderfully. Other rooms have balconies and/or private sitting rooms, or other wonderful features. There is even a room with turret sitting in this wonderful old mansion that has been beautifully restored so it is modern in comfort and visually a beautiful blend of antique and modern. The parking is secure and onsite, and you are only a few blocks from the beautiful spring fed lake that gives DeFuniak Springs it's name. The downtown section is also charming with a number of restaurant options, a charming museum in the old railroad depot, and the oldest library in the state still lovingly cared for. The walk around the lake is lovely, and there are may beautifully cared for old houses to look at as you walk, as well as a fountain, places to sit, and wonderful old trees. I absolutely adored this wonderful place, and will return as many times as I can. OH! and have some rooms that are...
Read moreWe (my mom and I) were in the Defuniak Springs area for a high school graduation. I found this property on the internet before we were to go to the graduation. I thought it was stunning on the internet. Of course everything looks better on the internet, with the exception of the Sunbright Inn. The Sunbright Inn is one of the most beautiful places I have ever, ever stayed. The pictures on the internet do not do it justice! When I opened my room door, it took my breath away. So beautiful, actually beyond beautiful!
The owners are so kind! You can tell that their love of the Inn is vast in every detail. Each room has such elegant details from ceiling to floor. I walked around my room for 10 minutes just looking at the gorgeous details from the wallpaper, to the lighting fixtures, to the lamps. There is not one detail that is lacking in anything.
After staying here, I consider myself lucky. How fortunate my mom and I were to experience this Inn. The Sunbright Inn is also immaculately clean! It smelled so good!!! Upon arriving there was also a delicious muffin waiting for me on the bed. That was so nice because after traveling all day, then attending a graduation, too tired to go anywhere to eat, the muffin was a much welcomed treat.
If you are planning on visiting Defuniak Springs, do not hesitate to book this beautiful Inn. You will not be...
Read moreThe Sunbright Inn is a delightful historic home that has been converted to an Inn. Soaring main floor ceilings, period furniture and well appointed rooms make this beautifully renovated inn very tempting.||As other reviewers have mentioned, there is not a soul to be seen on the property. The grounds are meticulously groomed without a blade of grass out of place. These factors combined make for an unsettling experience. It’s creepy AF. Keypads on every door that lock automatically upon closing. Yes, you can text with a supposed person, but WTF? You could actually use this for a movie script (I’m thinking along the lines of “Get Out.”)||The heavily carved four-posted bed was so high there was no way I could get on it without the step stool, unless I was a pole vaulter. The mattress topper is so spongy it swallowed me up like a Venus flytrap, but the pillows are dense with foam that my body was sinking while my head was perched high on the pillow. I had the worst night sleep ever. If you need a mattress topper, you should be replacing the mattress. The one thing people want when staying anywhere is a good sleep with a decent mattress. The Sunbright Inn is not shy with their rates and I would expect a reasonably comfortable mattress. ||Aside from the mattress debacle, there is considerable street noise so best bring earplugs and white noise....
