To start with the positives: We had a newly renovated room and got a nice note from the general manager. There were also cookies in our room which were amazing, who doesn’t love a red velvet chocolate chip cookie? It’s also in a prime downtown location and it’s super easy to get around from there. It’s one mile from the beach and smack dab in the center of all the hustle and bustle of downtown which made for an easy time finding great places to eat and listen to music.
The rest, eh… I don’t really have great things to say. The hotel is under construction (and we did not know about it) so it was loud early in the morning. There were banging and clanging sounds early on that woke us up almost every morning of our stay. We were also very disappointed with the showers, the water pressure is a trickle at best and it does not get very hot at all. We were also hoping for more service in the form of house keeping because due to the humidity our towels were almost never dry. We had to go find the housekeepers to give them our dirty towels and get clean ones as well as bring them our trash and get new trash bags. They only came in our room once for the entirety of our stay, even though we weee gone without the do not disturb sign up. The one time they did come, they took all our towels including the ones that were hanging up, bathmat, hand towels and wash cloths and didn’t replace them! Finally, the pool was only able to be accessed by elevator for one day of our stay and you had to walk through a construction zone to get there. The rest of the time you had to go to the fourth floor and walk down to the second floor via the stairs to access the pool. There were also rarely (I’d ever) towels at the pool. It was also super in-accessible for anyone with disabilities because you had to take the stairs to get there. The gates are also very high up and not easy to reach to let yourself in and out and there are no accessibility options to help with that.
Breakfast was nothing to write home about. Some watery eggs, stale French toast sticks and cereal. There was also a toaster with bagel and bread options as well. The breakfast hours are super short though so if you’re on vacation and want to sleep in you’ll likely miss it. It’s only from 6am-9am. It would be nicer if it went until 10 daily.
Overall, just being there to sleep was fine but things definitely could have been a lot better...
Read moreWorst Customer Service from the General Manager of the Hotel..!! As a frequent traveler nationally and internationally, I do use many hotel brands; recently I decided to use Hyatt Hotels more often than with other hotel brands.
My wife and I decided to stay one night at this hotel last week to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary and meet up with other friends flying out of the country. Unfortunately, when driving into Del Ray, we received a call and it happened to be a family emergency, so we called the hotel to advise them that most likely we would have to cancel our reservation due to this unforeseen situation. When we called the hotel the Front Desk Clerk indicated that she would need to get authorization from the general manager of the hotel. As a Frequent Hyatt Loyal member I was using my points for this night, but the position of the General Manager was that not only I would loose my points, but he would charge my Credit Card for a Night at the ongoing rate.....??? seriously...?? with an obvious lack of compassion and understanding he flat out refused to do anything..!! since I has already driven into Del Ray, I was forced to show up at the hotel to check in to avoid this arbitrary room charge penalty for cancelling the reservation and then turn around and leave the hotel to drive back home. Obviously Mr.Cuadra, the General Manager of this hotel does not have a clue of what really Hospitality stands for, or even recognizing that one of his Loyal Customer for his Brand was facing a situation that was unexpected and the severity of the situation. I am writing this review, because I want to warn any person that plans to stay at this hotel, and would found himself in a similar situation; as he/she would most likely face the same unfriendly, arrogant and lack of compassion attitude from the General Manager of the hotel, obviously more concerned with penalizing a customer facing a personal emergency then trying to help It is a disappointment for a traveler to see how some so-called executives are more concerned with their bottom line rather than providing customer service and satisfaction beyond expectations to their loyal customers...!! Never again at...
Read moreI do not recommend this hotel. Couldn't be guaranteed an early check-in for a wedding so we were told we could book the room an extra night to be able to check in early in the morning when our flight landed. Called 2 days ahead of check-in date to confirm that we would NOT be checking in until early the following morning but are paying for the extra night so we can get ready for the wedding in time post-early morning flight. We were told this was fine and a note would be put in our file. Arrived at the hotel in the morning only to be told our entire reservation was canceled and charged a "no-show fee" because we "no-showed" the night prior. Told them about our situation and they said there was no note in our file. The hotel was sold out so they gave our room away. They eventually found one room that was not the size we chose so we took what we could get and were not given a price adjustment per night. They said we would just get early check in and not be charged for night prior. The room was handicap accessible and the entire bathroom floor flooded as soon as the shower turned on. We each slipped several times and almost fell. Had to stand in 1 inch of cold water (which wouldn't drain for several hours each time) just to use the bathroom. Shower curtain was dirty upon arrival. Blackout blinds were broken and wouldn't pull down and naturally our window faced the sun. Asked if we could get a new room at some point during our stay since this wasn't what we had chosen but our request was never accommodated. The water (sinks, toilet, shower) is very yellow throughout the entire hotel and has a nasty taste to it. Upon check out, they again would offer no price adjustments for not giving us the room we paid for. They also charged us for all nights with a no-show fee. After discussing with several people and finally the manager days later, was only given half off the no-show fee in the end (and again, no price adjustment for wrong room given). Only perk to this hotel is its location - close to the lively city area. First and only trip I will ever...
