I started attending FC during the fall of 2023. A selling point for me was the affordable pricing and multiple location access in this area as I live in between two locations. I started attending when my kids started in a pre-school program near by and would regularly attend both the Lewisville and Denton locations.
The Denton FC is definitely high traffic, but always well maintained and offers some cool amenities - upstairs turf, cycle room, basketball courts, tons of weights, etc. All the things you could want in a gym..
However, I cannot give it higher than a two star review and here is why - for myself, I have to have childcare options in order to attend the gym regularly. Initially, I could only attend FC a few days a week on the days my kids were in pre-school because they did not offer childcare for children under the age of three⊠which is very limiting for A LOT of people. Due to that reason, I went to a different gym in the area over the summer.
Once my youngest son turned three, I started bringing both of my kids and it was great! The childcare area is very big with tons of toys and things to keep the kids entertained. They loved it and so did I!
Once school started, day time morning childcare was cut to this location only. It is offered in the evening at both locations, but AM hours only in Denton.
It seems obvious to me, but the reason childcare in the AM was not well attended is because you do not offer it for kids under three-years-old when parents need the childcare the most⊠However, I still kept this membership because I could at least go to the Denton location in the mornings.
Unfortunately, FC has now cut now their childcare in this location as well to only PM hours saying they did not have enough attendance to justify it in the morningâŠ. Again, low attendance seems obvious to me⊠By cutting morning hours completely, this gym no longer serves a major purpose for me so I will need to reconsider my membership completely.
For parents, kids have school breaks, holidays, etc and by not offering morning childcare, many customers needs are not met. I personally have the highest membership offered by FC and due to this change, I am likely going to have to cancel my membership completely or at a minimum, take it to the lowest grade membership.
This limitation is super disappointing for such a large nice...
Read moreIâve been attending this gym 2-3 times a week for the past 2 years. It used to be a great gym: affordable, clean, and I loved having a womenâs area when I was starting out. Iâm not sure if the gym is under new management as of recently, but it has gone downhill fast. The water fountains are regularly broken for a week at a time. The womenâs gym constantly has broken machines that stay broken for weeks at a time, and the paper towel dispensers are empty at least 70% of the time. They also randomly raised the price to $20/month saying we were getting access to âpremium amenities,â but when I repeatedly emailed them asking what the premium amenities were I never got a response. There are some friendly staff members who have been there a long time, but most new employees are indifferent if not outright rude toward you. I am a distance runner, and when I asked an employee if there was a way to override the 60 minute limit on the treadmills he laughed in my face and told me I was working out inefficiently. I think these personal trainers should recognize that everyone has different goals in the fitness community. I also left my barbell pad at the gym at one point, then called and asked if they could set it aside for me. An employee told me that she had it and I could get it the next time I came in. A few days later and suddenly they didnât have it and had never seen it. Because of all of this, Iâm trying to cancel my membership, and when I click the phone option to speak to customer service to cancel it just starts replaying the menu options. So I called again and instead chose the option to speak to the manager. I told him I wanted to cancel and that the customer service option was not working, and he told me to call customer service then hung up as I was in the middle of saying âbut I canât get a call to go through to them.â TLDR: rude/unreliable staff, broken equipment, and higher prices than similar...
   Read moreDear Fitness Connection,
I am writing to express my deep disappointment and anger over the blatant act of discrimination and racism that I experienced at your Denton location. Upon my recent arrival in this community, I decided to take advantage of the 5-day free pass that you offer on your official website. However, when I arrived at the facility, I was shockingly denied entry and told that my pass was not valid, and that I would have to pay $48 to access the gym for just one day â an amount that exceeds the cost of a regular monthly membership.
The only reason provided for this was that I have a Mexican ID. Despite being accompanied by a local resident who is a member of your gym and lives in the Denton community, I was still refused entry. This entire situation was clearly motivated by racial prejudice.
This kind of discriminatory behavior is completely unacceptable and should have no place in any business, let alone a fitness facility that claims to serve the entire community. Denying someone access based on their nationality or ethnicity is not only unlawful but also goes against the principles of inclusivity and diversity that your brand should uphold.
I am calling on the wider community to reconsider supporting a gym that engages in such discriminatory practices. No one should have to face this kind of treatment, and I strongly urge others to choose facilities that truly respect and welcome all members of the community, regardless of their background.
I demand that Fitness Connection immediately addresses this issue and takes appropriate action to ensure that no one else has to endure this kind of treatment. If this matter is not resolved promptly, I will not hesitate to pursue further action and encourage others to...
