I'm not sure how to rate this place. I was ready with a five star review despite a few small cons, but the morning before departure we pre-packed the car with some items we were done with- we were not checked out - and they entered the room to clean it at 9am with us still inside. No knock, just walked right in. Accidents happen, but the room was ours until 11 and it was completely uncomfortable. We had a long drive ahead and planned to hang out and wash up before hitting the road at 11. The invasion of privacy made us feel like they were watching us (my husband and son left to get something from the car and they assumed we all left the room as they'd watched us take a few trips to the car). They entered within 30 seconds of them leaving the room. They also emailed and messaged 3 times asking for a checkout time. I understand they want to turn the room over, but we paid $450 for two nights and the room was still ours.
Original cons- Walls / uncarpeted floors are paper thin and other guests were very loud at 6am both mornings. Stairwell door slamming was unpleasant at that hour. Had to ask for clean towels as they didn't give us enough initially for the amount of people we are. I felt they thought I was going to steal the towels when I asked for more, but we simply wanted to shower again and the two towels initially provided the first day weren't enough for 5 people for two days.
Breakfast The coffee is awful (that alone I considered docking a star). They had a machine that produced disgusting coffee and the. A hot pot with more coffee that was also not good but seemed different? If you like cappuccino and hot chocolate they have a machine for that which is probably good. Make your own waffles was great. Other items included a small assortment that was fine: yogurts, juice, cereal, little bites (unpackaged), tiny donuts, bananas, eggs and sausage.
Room Large and clean. We booked a room with two queen beds and a bunk bed. One queen is actually the sofa bed and the other (only real bed) felt smaller than a queen. The couch mattress was very uncomfortable- you could feel the springs and a topper may help that. The real bed and the bunk bed mattresses were all comfortable. I was expecting two real queen beds and a bunk bed. This was a special game room that I was unaware of when booking, so it was a fun surprise for the kids. It had bunk beds, an arcade game, connect 4, and neat decor. The room was lacking a desk/table and enough seating, but had a fridge and microwave.
Overall it was clean and well maintained. It's family run and you could tell they work hard. People are there for Hershey Park, but they shouldn't assume people are gone and make guests uncomfortable by treating them this way. I'm sure people have stolen towels or soap, but not everyone will and feeling watched isn't very vacation-y. It was a bad way to end our stay- abruptly before we were planning to leave. We didn't feel valued, but instead felt like they needed the room out for their next person. It wasn't like we asked to stay late- 9am breakfast...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed at Super 8 last week for four nights. We had an amazing experience. The check in staff member Sunday night was friendly, well organized and very accommodating. After driving nine hours on Sunday, we were hungry, but did not wish to go out to dinner. We ordered pizza in per her recommendation. The front desk attendant made us feel extremely welcome, inviting us to eat in the dining area (where they serve breakfast). She got us paper plates, extra napkins, forks and a knife from the breakfast area. She was absolutely amazing! The room was well equiped with microwave and a very nice size refrigerator, where we kept our left over pizza, allowing us to come back to the hotel to eat left over pizza during the lunch breaks from the conference. Much larger refrigerator than most hotel frigs. The room's HVAC system worked well, it had a temperature control which seems to be pretty accurate. Bathroom was nice size, with needed amenities provided. It was very clean. The Room attendants spoke "No English" however they seemed nice, and tried to make us feel comfortable. We drive a Ram Laramie diesel truck. It was very chilly during our visit beginning the second night. Diesels should be pulled in during chilly weather. The attendant on Monday night was super helpful, assisting us in plugging the truck in, plus put up safety cones so no one triped over our extension cord. That's amazing! Great, caring service. We've stayed in high end hotels and never received this wonderful service. Coffee and hot tea was available in the dining room 24/7. The coffee was deliciious. Each night we had a couple cups of coffee, including decaffeniated. I read a review before booking this Super 8, which stated "for those who prejudge Super 8's, don't prejudge this one, give it a try". I was one of those who would never have stayed at a Super 8, until I read that review. We gave it a try, and we were thrilled with our experience. We thank the entire staff for making our experience more than we ever expected. We will definitely stay here again when/if in Hershey. Thank you to all the staff who truly care about...
Read moreOur stay was not so good. The room is okay, the pull-out bed sheets were filthy and smelled. After calling the front desk they came and changed immediately. Also the breakfast was average. However, one on sanitary incident I observed was the gentleman taking care of the food area had clear gloves on, he used those gloves to put his hands in the garbage to push down the garbage from overflowing, kept those same gloves on to clean the counter with crumbs and to fix the food - muffins and the container. He did not change his gloves after handling the garbage. I had to leave the area with my children after that incident. Because it was so disgusting. The toilet did not flush on several occasions. I had to take off the lid and adjust the toilet so it could flush. I thought since this hotel had the Wyndham name attached, the standards would be higher. We stayed from 7/12 - 7/14 - Room 300 for the weekend for a family weekend trip at Hershey Park. It was a place to rest our head after a long day, but I wish we had a better experience. My pillowcase had a very musty odor. I didn't want to bother the front desk again so I just sucked it up because I was only there for one more night. The ladies at the front desk was very friendly and welcoming. I would like the manager of this hotel to know that they should do a better job with hygiene when taking care of our food. I understand this is not a five-star hotel, but proper care should be taken with ensuring high quality...
