We checked-in and the staff was congenial, but not terribly accommodating. We arrived early and were told the rooms were not ready. Thankfully my companion asked if we could have use of lockers and the changing rooms so we could use the pool facilities while waiting. The staff failed to make this offer, plus there was confusion whether or not we would be charged for locker use even though we were paying guests.|The entire facility has seen better days and you have the feeling that you are visiting the grandparents at an old age home. Up keep is at a minimum, staff are scarce, and everything needs a lick of paint or a good polish. The rooms are old style but at least provide comfortable beds, modern tv's with local cable stations, and a mini fridge and closet.|The hallways are very old and cleanliness means they smell either of cleaning solvent or that "wet beach" smell, which is odd since you're in the middle of the desert. I'm thinking... moldy carpets? Sometimes in the stairwells the mold smell is overpowering. In our room, the balcony was actually unsafe. The floor of the balcony was rotting and you cold step through sections if you were not careful, so we gave that a miss.|The mineral spas were not as hot as expected. They were actually rather tepid, and several of the jets didn't work properly. The other guests seemed to be part of package tours, as most of them this trip did not speak English and appeared to be dropped and collected by bus companies. Few of them adhered to the poolside rules, as there was much 'running, splashing, shouting, and drinking in the pool'... not that the lifeguard ever interceded. Also the rescue equipment appeared to be so old and sun worn that if it touched water, you get the impression that it would dissolve.|We decided to have our dinner that day at the bar. The bar staff seemed initially quite friendly and offered suggestions for the menu. Drinks were well made and the atmosphere was congenial. Food was adequate with acceptable portion sizes, but nothing overwhelming. What struck me was later, when we returned to the pool we looked for drinking water. The pitchers at the water station were empty so we walked over to the bar to request a glass of water. The time was like 6:01 (not that it matters) and the bartenders refused to give us even water, both chiming in unison "we're closed now". What the heck? There were still patrons eating so I don't know why they chose not to assist us. Very off putting.|As a whole, I can imaging that historically this was a nice location (years ago) but with the passing of time and absence of upkeep it does not offer stellar service nor accommodations. However, I must mention that one nights stay for 2 adults was $80, so as Grandpa used to say... "if you pay 10Cents for a diamond, you're going to get a diamond that is worth 10Cents", right?|I don't think I would return, but having tried it once I can honestly say it was ok for a...
Read moreI wanted to give this place a chance, I like rooting for the under dog. I needed to get away for a couple days, and I was hopeful this place would bring me rest and relaxation. It did not.
I knew something was off as soon as I called the desk and asked for a set of utensils. I arrived at 8pm, made a microwave meal at 9pm. But when I called front Jim at the front desk, all I got was "I don't know if we have something like that" ??? You are a hotel, and you don't have a set of utensils for your guests??
Thankful the AC worked, that was the only mildly good thing. But the AC rattled like a boiling kettle on an un-even stove top. So it was either: sleep in 100° heat, or sleep with earplugs in.
Some of the towels in my room were ALREADY stained, as well as the seal in the bath tub was not leak proof. So showering resulted in water all. over. the floor. Also, what is up with the water?? Thank goodness it got hot, but hot was the only setting. Water from the sink only ran hot.
Splits in the paint, carpet had stains. The ceiling had water stains. I'm glad I brought my own pillows/blankets/sheets.
The pools are EXTREMELY dirty, but that didn't matter because they were always full, with families yelling and playing loud music well into the night. The staff really should enforce a 10pm quiet time like every hotel/campground to exist. The only time I was able to find room in one of the various pools was at 2 am, but by then they were dingy and opaque, most likely with pee.
The facilities ranged from dissapointing to extremely subpar. None of the ice machines worked, and it is the middle of summer. They literally set out a trash can filled with ice by the pool, only for people to use during the day. Laundry hampers and vacuums strewn about in the main hallway.
The hotel is in a very seedy part of town, and the homeless on the other side of the fence made me feel unsafe to park in the designated parking area. This area was also next to the dumpster, which looked like a landfill itself.
I left a day early because there was no point in being there any longer. I feel bad for the one nice girl behind the desk, she offered to give a free night any time in the next year. But one nice girl working reception does not save this place.
I hate hate writing bad reviews, but I feel obligated so that I can save other people the money and headache of giving this place a chance like I did.
This place is not a resort, barely a hotel, and the opposite of a miracle. Yeah it's cheap, so you get what you pay for. Spend the extra money and stay somehwhere else.
Also: I see some blonde lady who is titled manager replying to the bad reviews. Ashley or Brittney or Taylor, idk what her name is. Cause I never saw her a single time. I was up at various times, 9am, noon, 9pm, 2am. This lady was never around, so I assuming she replies to reviews with no intention of changing...
Read moreMy son and I stayed for 2 nights, December 11 to 13 of 2022. Most of the stay was great. We had a phenomenal check in process - Jim was the most considerate person I've ever met behind a check in desk. Jim is perhaps the sole reason I gave 4 stars to this place and not anything lower. The hottubs and the pool were enjoyable and relaxing and well maintained - we got to chat with the maintenance crew the first morning. Beautiful views on the mountains especially when illuminated by the sunrise sun.
Toward the second night the problem appeared - no cold water. Yes, you read it correctly, no cold water. Instead, hot water was coming from all the cold faucets in the bathroom and kitchenette. I tried calling the front desk, but the person on the other end hung up after hearing the description of the problem. So I went to the front desk.
Justin at the front desk was not mentally prepared to deal with such a problem. He looked me dead in the eyes and asked "What do you want me to do about it? The management is not here. And if I move you to a different room there is no guarantee there won't be the same problem". Ok, Justin, please call someone in the maintenance, I asked. What a brilliant unique idea, thought Justin, and called the maintenance.
Sometime later Lance from the maintenance stopped by the room and told me that he tweaked something in the system and things should improve now. One hour later, however, the water from the cold faucets was still scalding hot.
So I went to Justin again. You could see in Justin's eyes the pain and suffering from the bad luck he encountered tonight in his otherwise quiet time watching TikTok behind the counter. Justin repeated his mantra about lack of management and received new instructions from me to call Lance again.
Lance stopped by again and told me I am out of luck, and he cannot fix the cold water issue. I told him that really I just need to be able to take a shower in the morning, but Lance was pretty sure the problem won't be fixed by then either. He then went to get keys for another room. He brought them back with strict instructions from Justin that I have to move into the new room NOW or effectively lose my shower privileges in the new room. It was 10pm, our last night at the hotel, and my kid was deep asleep.
So I went to talk to Justin again. This time Justin wouldn't have it. "No, you can't stay in your current room and just use the shower in the second room tomorrow morning, you have to move NOW." Any attempts to reason with Justin did not work - Justin finally found his decisive streak and made a decision he wasn't going to reconsider.
So I said ok to Justin, went back into my room, slept there and went to the other room in the morning to take a shower. Turned out, the second room also didn't have...
