I’ve been going to Kam Lun since I was a little girl with my parents. I have now been coming at least once every two weeks with my own family. We order the same thing every time because we absolutely loved it. My family and I just came in and found out it’s under new ownership. The dinner special included hot tea kettle with fried shrimp, wonton and egg roll, rice with entree that could feed three people. We ordered beef and broccoli dinner special, the beef was chewy the portion was extremely small, I don’t know if maybe Sue gave more because she loves her customers but this portion seemed like a small order, on the menu it says it can feed two but honestly it looks like it’s for one person. The fried rice we got always came in a large red container with a cap. We got two small bowls of rice. We also ordered the crispy chicken and again portion was small, honestly it still tasted good but portion size was not it. No more fancy traditional tea kettles, now it’s a metal one which changes the flavor of the tea I think, and it’s not included in the special. They forgot our appetizers for our dinner special. It’s so stuffy and humid, no ac, just a fan blowing hot air. Unfortunately since Sue is gone, the recipes are different and we will no longer return. Which is sad because Kam Lun was such a childhood memory that I just kept going so that my children would also enjoy. We most definitely will miss her. There should be a sign that it’s under new management. Also, This restaurants name should definitely change!

A hole in the wall Chinese restaurant in the desert that looks like it's been a local favorite for years. Stopped by during a recent trip to a hot springs hotel and tried their dinner specials. We tried the Beef chow mein and Kung pao chicken. The Kung pao tasted a little strange, but the chow mein was pretty amazing. It isn’t much to look at and after tasting the Kung pao, I really didn’t expect it but it was pretty good. The appetizers were also all pretty good, especially the shrimp. As for the price, it was only $9.50 pp for more food than two people can eat. Service was hot and miss. They were really busy for a Sunday evening and sounded like they had a lot of phone orders. Once we finally placed our order, service was pretty decent but language is a barrier here for some of the employees. If not for the weird Kung pao, I would have given them at least 4 stars but it was just too weird to get past. Parking lot was a bit sketchy too.

This the BEST Chinese place I have eaten, since I moved to California 2 years ago. We ate the $9.00 dinner Chicken and Veggie. My husband's was in white sauce with no water chestnuts and I had the same in spicy brown sauce. Both special request.... SEVERED JUST AS WE REQUESTED. The $9.00 meal came with a crab wonton, a beef wonton, fried shrimp, an egg roll AND choice of steamed or fried rice AND choice of soup. It was so much we could have shared and we were only able to eat our FIVE appetizers while at the restaurant. I requested they put our chicken and veggies on top of the rice when boxing it up. Guess what? THEY DID IT AS WE REQUESTED. Our server (was new) but she and all staff we corresponded with were VERY polite. I will drive from Cat City to DHS simply to eat chinese at KAM LUN's. IF YA'LL DON'T GO YA'LL CRAZY!

I just received another update that someone responded to this review with an emoji.

We moved away in December of 2023 and I made the below review before moving. When I get each update I read the reviews that have been added and the consistency in negativity proves who knows their “Chinese Food” and all of this time having passed and the reviews are still pouring in as a “FAIL”...

Well, I’m back in Redlands and enjoying my Chinese Food choices out here.

Good luck if you have not eaten here and shame on the new owners who ruined a good thing. Now back to my original review made in 2023 below.

——————2023 Review——————- I had to change from five stars to one star!!!

The original owners were doing a pretty decent job - minus the dusting and vacuuming.

The new owners?

Awwww geez… I ordered my usual, and it STOPPED coming with the soup and other extras. The container was smaller, the chicken was as if had been soaking in water overnight and then slightly warmed up.

So, I’ve been out here two years and everything I’m used to in the Inland Empire is far superior to any food out here. I’m never spending another dime here… the benefits will be immediate. My sodium intake will go down and my money will find a better value elsewhere.

With the new owners cost-cutting, I had to cost cut them. Good luck to them, as I hope they make improvements if they are reading reviews. For those who know where a good alternative is… please let us know.

*Someone said the original cook had personal issues, that resulted in him not being able to work there any longer. I’m not sure if that’s true but IT IS CLEARLY OBVIOUS that supplier/kitchen techniques had changed. Anyone having eaten here, under prior ownership, will have no doubt that there is an...

The food was very disgusting paid extra for white meat it was very chewy with no flavor vegetables were undercooked I've never had Chinese food so disgusting I couldn't even eat it. Walk in there and it stinks really bad. The seats are all ripped up and I couldn't figure out what to order yet and she wanted me to hurry because they're closing in a half hour I didn't want to be there I messed up and brought a friend there and I was so feeling bad and I brought someone in there that I knew I was very embarrassed. I wasn't going to leave this review for a place like that should not even be there it is not right that kind of food can you be served. In one of the pieces of chicken was ice cold how can that be if it was just stir fried. Not too long ago to Chinese places down the street were closed down due to them serving animals dog and cats. And if my instincts are right I think that's what they're serving cuz that was just not good at all I know what chicken tastes like in texture of white meat and that was just not not good. All I'm saying is that enough let me find out they are serving animals that are dogs and cats. They have to know by now that their food's not good with all the reviews. And to get ice for a drink of soda you hear her chipping away the ice from the freezer what is that all about. I'd rather have top ramen. I apologize to everyone if I ruined your appetite or if it's too much for you I just had to say something and I will never eat there ever ever ever ever ever...
