We absolutely had the best experience staying here! This was our first time in Destin and I researched MANY places. We were so happy with our choice. The location is great, so convenient to Target, restaurants and so many things. The beach was absolutely stunning and the free chair/umbrella service that came with our condo was wonderful. We stayed in unit 415 and would absolutely request this again. Everything was incredibly clean, beautifully decorated and well-equipped. There were a few extra things we found in our unit that were a pleasant surprise, but not mentioned in the listing and they helped make our stay even better. 1. They sell bags of ice at the front desk for $3. This was so convenient for filling your coolers for the beach or for folks like us who were there for a baseball tournament (also cheaper than buying ice at the gas station). This was great too if you like to make frozen drinks in the blender. There were two additional folding beach chairs in the closet, which were nice for our teens to use. The balcony was large and had a table and 4 chairs PLUS a lounge chair. I napped all day on the balcony when we had a rain day, it was so peaceful! The balcony also has railings on each side for hanging towels and swim suits to dry, without looking bad from the outside, loved this! And check in was so easy because they have a TON of shopping carts to use to get all of your stuff to the room (way better than luggage carts, which they also had). We had groceries and so many things and this made it so easy to get settled in - GREAT IDEA! The staff was awesome and helpful, the pool and views beautiful and parking was plentiful - we never struggled to find a spot and when friends came over for a cookout at the pavilion one evening, they let them park there while visiting. We had plenty of towels and although we booked this unit specifically because it had a washer/dryer, there was a note on the dryer that it was out of service. We were worried (again, since we were here for a ball tournament and would have to wash uniforms) but the front desk staff were nice and helpful and they made things right. We have zero complaints! The teens played basketball and tennis every night, enjoyed the beach and we also loved the shuffleboard court. Thank you everyone at The Islander for a wonderful stay, we will...
Read moreWe just returned from a 6 night stay at The Islander Resort (Unit 516) and had a wonderful trip! The resort had two nice size pools, two hot tubs, a huge grilling area, plenty of grassy green space, and beautiful landscaping. There was a giant Connect 4 game and shuffleboard to play as well. Although we didnât utilize it, the gym looked nice with lots of equipment. The public areas of the resort were very well maintained and clean. There were plenty of grocery carts and luggage carts to move things to your room - even during peak check in/check out times.
The resort provided near daily activities for kids to enjoy. There was a movie night, sand castle building, and arts and crafts. These didnât cost us a thing and were thoroughly enjoyed!
The walk from our unit to the beach was easy and accessible for my mom prefers to walk up/down ramps rather than stairs. We loved the shoe storage at the beach ramp. We also enjoyed having two chairs and an umbrella set up, waiting on the beach for us each morning - at no extra cost!
Unit 516 had plenty of sleeping and sitting space for up to 6 guests. The fold out couch was VERY comfortable as were the regular beds. There was plenty of hangers, closet, and drawer space as well as extra towels and linens. The kitchen was well stocked with plenty of plates, glasses, cookware, and utensils.
The views from the balcony cannot be beat! You can watch the sunset, see the ocean, and see the bay. The best of all the things from one spot! We ate most of our meals while enjoying the views and listening to the sounds of the beach.
Of the meals we enjoyed at restaurants - Brotulaâs was the best! The HarborWalk was really enjoyable and both are an easy drive from The Islander.
Donât hesitate to book Unit 516 at The Islander! We canât...
Read moreTERRIBLE customer service! Going as far as blocking my number and hanging up in my face because CINDY âhas nothing else to say to meâ when she didnât even let me speak before she hung up in my face along with another when I called the second time! Charged my account $500 for a flooded bathroom and a âmessyâ room because the bed wasnât made up. WHO would not notify the front desk of a over flowing toilet in a room they are staying in!?!? NO ONE! And last time I checked all bedding should be taken off and washed and replaced so why would you charge me for that when we pay a cleaning fee! Then we rented the palm room (donât let the pictures fool you) itâs so small was terribly hot! Would not recommend for a wedding! Was told I could take decorations down the next day and was told DURING my wedding at 9:30 pm that they all had to be taken down the same night. Also told we had the room till 12 at night and Andrea had the nerve to come walking into the palm room with her dog looking like she just got out of bed cursing the DJ out telling him to take off the music at 10:30ish. Cindy âthe managerâ had let me talk for maybe 30 seconds before she replied with take it to my lawyer. Saying I left the hall a mess and there was throw up everywhereâs when we cleaned that room spotless and even swept so how would we miss over a pile of throw up!? Just all around bad business!! The palm room was filthy when we went to decorate and had to clean a mess we didnât make but did I complain? No! This woman couldnât even give me 5 minutes to explain the situation. Unblock my number Cindy and talk to me like a grown woman! Just unbelievable! ADDED PICTURES OF THE âFILTHYâ hall that we left! We swept and cleaned...
