Sunshine, Salt Air, and Smiles: Our Perfect Day with Crab Island Adventures If you ever find yourself along Florida’s Emerald Coast and you’re looking for a fun, family-friendly way to spend a few hours on the water, let me point you to something truly special: Crab Island Adventures. From the start, everything about this outing felt effortless and well thought-out. Booking was a breeze, and the staff communicated clearly and kindly—something I always appreciate when planning a trip with kids in tow. Our captain for the day, Riley, was a gem. He had this easygoing charm that instantly put everyone at ease, especially our three kids (ages 15, 13, and 9). He was engaging without being overbearing, and his knowledge of the area gave us little nuggets of insight that added to the day’s enjoyment. One of the early highlights? Spotting a playful dolphin just a short distance from the boat. Pure magic. Once we arrived at Crab Island, we anchored and the real fun kicked in. Paddle boarding, lounging on a giant float, laughing in the sun—it was one of those perfect afternoons where time seemed to slow down. And just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, along came lunch. Yes, lunch delivered to the boat! Chick-fil-A sandwiches, smoky local BBQ, and even ice cream made their way to us on the water. It was such a delightful surprise and made the whole experience feel indulgent and just plain fun. Our three-hour tour flew by in a blur of sunshine, saltwater, and smiles. It struck that rare balance of being both relaxing and entertaining—which, let’s be honest, isn’t always easy when you’re trying to please teenagers and a nine-year-old. We left feeling refreshed, connected, and already plotting our return for the morning or sunset tours. If you’re traveling with kids, a group of friends, or just looking for a unique way to enjoy Destin’s gorgeous waters, I wholeheartedly recommend Crab Island Adventures. It’s one of those experiences that stays with you long after the tan fades.

Our time out at Crab Island was the highlight of our most recent family trip to Destin. If you’re thinking about booking, stop thinking and just do it! I want to highlight the captain, Riley! He’s a Destin local and is seriously connected, lol! He knew just about everyone in passing and was able to point us in the direction of delicious food. His tastebuds were aligned with ours it turns out because his number one recommendation, Harry T’s, was our favorite meal while there. He also gave us great tips about the area and when to come back for perfect weather. He was professional, but also likable. We were asking around for the dock (it was near the beignet shack) he just happened to hear us and jumped up to wave us down. Picture directions are provided via email before hand, but there are quite a few boats once you get down there. He greeted us, loaded up our items and suggested we grab a bite to eat, a drink, and use the bathrooms before heading out since we arrived early— which I highly recommend if you’re new to this or have small kids. It’s recommended to Uber, but we have car seats so I took my chances and the parking lot was wide open the day after Easter. Bring food, bring water, bring alcohol 😁, bring SPF, and bring a charged phone to connect to Bluetooth. There is some shade on the boat, if that what you prefer as well. Riley was excellent with our small children and overall provided top tier service. We are hoping to come back this summer and book with him.

Captain Riley was amazing! He gave us some fun facts about the area, a local perspective on restaurants and other fun things to do on our visit. He took us on a little tour of the Harbor, and we found some dolphins that Riley tried to get to play with our wake. We found an excellent spot where we were able to spend the rest of our time on Crab Island. The water was beautiful, calm, and warm. It was just shallow enough for us to have fun without constantly swimming. The floating mat that was provided was a lovely place to relax after playing, they also provided a cooler for any snacks or drinks you brought for your trip, and allowed us to connect to the Bluetooth speaker which which really adds to our experience. There was loads of vendors that you could buy snacks from as you hung out. Riley gave us plenty of notice to pack up before we had to head back to the Habor. 10/10 would recommend, it was a great experience!

We can’t say enough great things about our boat trip! We were trying to book something last minute, and this company was so accommodating and got us in without any hassle. From the moment we stepped on board, Captain Ryan and Maddie made us feel completely welcome and comfortable.

They were both incredibly kind, professional, and attentive to every detail. Maddie was especially sweet with our kids, making sure they were safe and having fun the whole time. Captain Ryan was knowledgeable and shared interesting facts about the area, which made the experience even better.

One of the highlights was that they took the time to snap some amazing photos of our kids and family, which we truly appreciated because it allowed us to just relax and enjoy the trip without worrying about capturing the memories ourselves.

The boat was clean and well-maintained, and the whole experience felt safe, smooth, and so much fun. We would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for a memorable day on the water. Thank you, Captain Ryan and Maddie, for making our last-minute...
