We were very disappointed with our stay at Aegean Towers. Before booking, we were told only general exterior building maintenance would be happening and that there would be no direct disturbance. In reality, the construction was far more disruptive, unsafe, and misleading than described in the email I was sent after I booked.
The path to the beach was blocked by heavy equipment, including a bulldozer jackhammering concrete for the first 2–3 days of our trip. Once the pad was broken up, caution tape was placed around it, leaving only a messy, uneven path through black dirt. Every time we walked to and from the beach, dirt stuck to our feet and legs and was tracked into the unit despite rinsing off.
The pool was closed off part of the time, palm trees were dug up leaving large open holes, and hazards surrounded the property. I had my 11-year-old, who knew to watch for hazards, but I also had my 4-year-old, who is very unpredictable. I had to keep constant watch, afraid he would get injured/hurt. That is not the kind of stress a family expects on vacation.
On top of that, many of the advertised amenities (gazebo (taped off) shuffleboard, tennis, pool, grills, etc.) were either unavailable or unusable. The shuffleboard court was the one being jackhammered and demolished during our stay. None of this was disclosed in the email about construction, which only mentioned “noise and equipment.”
This was not the peaceful beach vacation we expected. I feel it was dishonest to downplay the level of disruption and to continue advertising amenities that were not actually available. Had we known the reality—that the beach path would be torn up, the pool closed at times, hazards everywhere, and amenities unusable—we would not...
Read moreAfter 40 years of our family renting here this is the last. ECVR (emerald coast vacation rentals) is incompetent at best and negligent at worst. The construction happening during peak season was not disclosed and is incredibly disruptive. After speaking with the property manager it would seem we booked before they began disclosing this significant construction, but they didn't think to notify us. It really is a shame because we have long felt this was a hidden gem, but now it is a below average condo unit that I would avoid unless it was priced way below market. Besides the undisclosed construction, the units are filthy, sandy floors, food in the dishwasher, dirty utensils in the drawer, cutting boards that look like they have never been washed, broken dryer, poorly outfitted kitchen (no can opener, etc), and abysmal communication when our room was ready. Not only will we be avoiding this complex in the future, we will not book any property managed by ECVR. One shining star, unrelated to ECVR, the Cloud 9 beach staff was amazing. If only we could give them control...
Read moreWe stayed 5 nights following the July 4 holiday. Our condo balcony faced the ocean, so whether we exited our bedroom or living area, we saw the sea green waters! It was a great getaway!. We had five sleeping comfortably. The kitchen and bathrooms had been updated which was nice. New stainless appliances and granite countertops, plus disposalin kitchen, new tile, glass doors in shower and new vanity/ sink in bath. Our bed was a king. Other furnishings were functional but not elaborate. The entrance door had a punch tab code. No key needed. Coded gate, also. The grounds were well kept and landscaped. Lush green grass. Wooden walk over dunes to beach and umbrella chair service. Reasonable charge. Gazebo with reservable grills and outdoor sink. Table and benches to sit and eat. Nice pool but no furniture due to covid-19. Bring your own chairs. The units are three levels, elevator included. The Aegean is around 50 years old, but very well kept. Prices are half in the Fall. Holiday Isle is a very convenient locale. See...
