A LITTLE DISAPPOINTED. But still good. First of all, the wait times are ridiculously long… and you pretty much HAVE TO get to the restaurant around 4ish in order to have little to no wait time. At 5 and beyond, you’re looking at a hour to 2 hour wait, unless your lucky. OR it could vary by the time of the year—just know if visiting during Spring Break time, it’s hard to get in without a wait during dinner time. Of course, my family decided to wait a FULL 2 HOURS. You’d think with that amount of time we would figure out what we wanted to eat by looking at the menu on their website, right? Turns out, you might not want to trust it! Once we got seated and received our menus, I realized that my beloved Yankee Lobster Mac N Cheese was nowhere to be seen, as well as the delicious squash casserole. After talking with our (awesome) server, he stated that the prices of lobster had gone up and that ALL LOBSTER DISHES were removed from the menu. So HOPEFULLY my Yankee Lobster Mac N Cheese will make its way back once prices get back to normal. 🤞 As far as the squash casserole, he was unsure; which is really a letdown since it was their BEST side dish hands down. With all of that into consideration, I really was going to knock off a few stars from my original 5-star rating… but the food we got saved me from doing so.
In fact, the food I got instead was actually really good. I decided to split two dishes with another person in my party: the Pan Sautéed Gulf Snapper, recommended by our server, and the Chargrilled Angus Filet. The Pan Sautéed Gulf Snapper (pictured below) was absolutely delicious and consists of many flavorful elements. The Chargrilled Angus Filet, also really good—it was cooked to perfection and tasted wonderful. On the side, the green beans & Mac N Cheese were awesome. I hate that I couldn’t have my Yankee Lobster Mac N Cheese this trip, but the food we got made up for it well.
Previous Review, April 2021: Being a frequent tourist in the Emerald Coast area, Boshamps is an absolute MUST for my family and I. The food is always excellent and the service is top tier. All visitors should take note that this restaurant is normally always busy, but is worth the wait! My family and I have been visiting Boshamps for 5+ years and have never been disappointed.
One recommendation would be to have heaters on the outside patio. It was fairly windy outside and slowly got colder as the night progressed. But other than that, the atmosphere was beautiful, with string lights hanging above us and a live band playing!
The valet parking is not necessary, as the parking lot itself is not big at all. Majority of people end up waiting for a table in their car anyway, so those few steps you would have saved would have been used to walk back to your car as you waited.
However, the food, as always, did not disappoint. My absolute favorite dish in all of Destin is the Yankee Lobster Mac ‘N Cheese. The macaroni itself is some of the best that I have ever tasted, so I must always savor it until the next time I go back! On top of that, the Local Yellow Squash Casserole is out of this world, the perfect side dish! The green beans are super unhealthy (and that’s not a bad thing), being submerged in bacon grease. If you don’t like green beans, try these! Trust me, you’ll like them. A few other people in my party highly recommend “The Original” Snapper Destin, as they order this every time we visit!
Other than the food, I must acknowledge that the Boshamps merchandise is very high quality. They offer many t-shirt and sweatshirt designs in all kinds of colors, all of which look very nice! Props to the person that designs them!
Overall, I highly recommend Boshamps to anyone that is in the Emerald Coast area. Amazing atmosphere, delicious food, and...
Read moreBottom Line: I would recommend this restaurant as a tourist who's looking to splurge for one night, but it is very busy and overpriced.
Atmosphere: Low-light ambience, mid-volume overhead music, tables spread a reasonable distance from each other. They have a nice downstairs area with a standalone bar, live music, and a beachy area by the docks with cornhole and beach chairs.
Food: The oysters were FAT. Usually raw oysters come very small in my local area so I was very pleased with this. We got an order of $20.95 Raw "Nekkid" Oysters Dozen and an order of $14.95 Oysters Rockefeller(baked) Half-Dozen. They tasted very plump, juicy, and fresh. The sauces weren't all that though.
I got the $39.95 Pan Roasted Gulf Grouper. Presentation-wise, very appealing. The flavor was great but I was expecting a MUCH bigger cut of fish for the price. The feta cheese souffle was way too thick for me, but nibbling off of it with each bite of the grouper added a very nice complimentary touch along with the sweetness of the house made tomato jam.
Service: Getting to know some of the other guests at the restaurant, this is definitely a tourist attraction. It gets BUSY. we showed up around 8PM. They already had a full waitlist and were no longer taking any names. We had to wait an hour for two seats to open up by the bar. If you come here, MAKE RESERVATIONS. Once we got seated, it took about ten minutes for our appetizers to come out, then an additional 30 minutes for our main entrée. I would say it's about an average wait for a restaurant that busy. The bartender who served us was very kind.
Overall: If I came to visit Destin more than once every few months, I would not come here every time. The food was great, the prices are not. I understand that these are standard prices for a business focused on tourism. I plan on exploring other seafood options the next time I visit Destin. Price is not warranted by the...
Read moreOVER RATED, overly priced for the taste of the food. Better taste & bang for your buck at Red Lobster guys!!!! Boshamps consistently has a 30min+ wait, which during that time most people end up buying alcoholic drinks($15+) and take in the ocean front view…needless to say they probably don’t really taste their food by the time they get seated then wait for their order to be made. Mixed Greens salad w/Blackberry Balsamic($15)-leaves taste dirty, balsamic toooo strong,, burned throat, eye quenching. Cup of Corn Cream Chowder has nothing accompanying it(…like toast, etc) -it taste bland, baby food…($15). Ordered Mashed potatoes in place of it- they taste pretty good although the iron/metallic taste came from the little skillet it was cooked and served in. Hubby had Snapper Destin($46.95)- requested his fish be fried…it was fried tooo long- “dried out!” However his mashed potatoes w/greens and pine nuts on top were pretty tasty, although not worth $46. Another table/guest brought their dog- who was served as well, and allowed to eat and lick off the regular dishes. The waitress served the dogs water bowl to the guest, then immediately served another party their drinks. The waitress also was seen accepting another guests’ steak scraps and directly placing the plate onto the floor for the dog to enjoy! Our waiter Matt was nice and did great w/his introduction and quickly took our order. 15% gratuity automatically placed on the kiosk at check out, although you can change it. Overall- food(4), plating(7), atmosphere(8), wait time(3), parking (3) even though valet parking is/was available, hostesses (10). This is a “been there, done...
