Initially, because this location is between two MIA airport runways, I was concerned that the noise level would be a problem. I can see the planes coming in from the West to land but the engine noise, in my room, is not an issue and I haven't given it another thought. The airport side of the hotel may be noisier. The location is very convenient because 826/Palmetto Expressway is a block away. I turn right, when leaving the hotel, to avoid the traffic light. There is practically no traffic leaving the area in the morning. 826 South is busy at 9 am. I purposely change lanes away from the exits and drive freely South with rare congestion. Returning in the evening is at highway speed with few cars on the exit ramp and light at 9:30 pm.
As mentioned, the hotel is conveniently located near 826 and 836 is one exit South. This makes access to Miami easier if you have a car. I overheard the hotel desk attendant disuading a multigenerational family from walking to the store because it was too far in the heat. This event was the epitome of hospitality. I have observed many kind acts from the hotel staff solving guest problems at the desk and in the common area supplying snacks in the morning. The staff that I have interacted with have consistently been kind and responsive. They deserve mention and have improved my stay. They are: Marcelo, Joaquin, Monica, Idalmis, Luis and Gloria. If I forgot someone please forgive me.
The hotel is attractive and clean. My room is spacious with enough seating for five. The bed is comfortable with good quality sheets and comforter. The kitchen let's me enjoy my favorite foods, store leftovers and snack at night.
When I was asked to write a review, I agreed because I thought I could reward excellent service. In fairness, I should also offer my observations and personal experiences of a critical nature in the hope that it could do some good, too. So if you will allow me, here goes: The hotel is positioned perfectly near the airport in one of the most exciting cities in the world, yet, the pool has been closed since the pandemic. The hotel pool has been an integral part of the Miami vacation experience . The children can play and the adults can relax. We chose this hotel for many reasons and the pool was one of them. The pool looks so nice on the website. Some of us bought new swim suites. Mine is in my car. In addition, the breakfast is disappointing. I've seen children practically in tears and grandparents having to save the day by recommending that they leave the hotel to find a restaurant. I heard a European family say, We just wanted a little cheese. Many people want milk with their coffee. There is none. It seems that on certain days of the month the supplies run out. Last week, when the oranges had disappeared, the fruit bars are rare and the oatmeal display wasn't being put out a man came through and asked, Why does everyone look to sad. I observed that the staff are placed in an unenviable position. They must meter out the diminishing supplies and continue to field requests from hungry guests who rightfully feel abandoned. Because bad evaluations are detrimental I think returning to the breakfast of the past is a solution. Provide a waffle maker, cereal, eggs, toast, bagels, yogurt and cheese. Staff could focus on hospitality which you already do so well. Other hotels must be feeling this pressure too. Stay ahead of the curve. The potential is so great! The staff is a spectacular team already. Evaluations would be positive and occupancy would soar.
When we are sitting in the common area people talk about their travel plans in this spectacular city. They talk about their families, the weather at home and give travel advice. The spontaneous community is truly international. We share two immediate interests: Miami and our hotel experience. Put your best efforts to resolve these two issues so we can also talk about our next visit to ESA and Miami. And please don't forget to include the oranges. I think I am right in saying the guests love...
Read moreMy wife and I arrived at 10pm from the airport. The lady at the front desk, Gloria, said that “someone” cancelled our reservation a few hours prior and that there were no rooms available. When we explained that our flight just landed and we definitely never cancelled the reservation, no help or advice was offered until I started to lose patience. Then we were allowed to book a room for that 7 day stay immediately. I guess someone must have checked out and left out of the back door because we never saw anyone leave so suddenly there was a room available. On day 2, the vending machine charge my debit card $10 but never gave me the 3 energy drinks that I paid for. When I asked the front desk what I should do, I was told I have to wait til Friday to speak to the manager. Thats weird but whatever. On Friday, the manager said I have to contact the vendor. She gave me an 800 number because there is no information on the actual machine. Again, weird. Tried calling the number several times for it to just keep ringing then hanging up. Yet again, weird. My wife accidentally got blood on 2 sheets. We cleaned the mess up with 2 towels. As I was exchanging the soiled linen and towels, I was informed that we would be charged as the couldn’t be cleaned. I agreed but requested to be given the items that I would be paying for. I used the community washer/dryer at $3 for each use on either machine with single load laundry detergent that the hotel sold to me for $4 and the whites were white again. And… our room was not cleaned once in 7 days. When asked why, the front desk said that we would have to stay longer than 7 days to get the room cleaned once! Wow. Then they don’t provide any substantial toiletries. They provide soap, shampoo, and toilet paper. No toothpaste. No conditioner. No lotion. No floss. When I asked if I could use some cleaning supplies to clean the room myself, I was given directions to Walmart and instructed to buy my own. The phone in the room has a sign that says all calls, both local and long distance, require a $1 surcharge… that surcharge is still applied even if the call doesn’t go through. Any attempt to use the phone costs $1. That’s ridiculous and greedy. On top of all of that… there are people who “camp out” in the lobby/dining area all night long. This was just not a pleasant experience for our first time in Miami. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone and I personally would never stay here again. Do...
Read moreI had an extremely bad experience with the front desk hostess, Rachel who was very disrespectful to myself and my parents. My parents made a reservation through a 3rd party and paid for a one night stay. When my mom tried to give Rachel her confirmation number there was already an undertone of an attitude with Rachel. My mom asked what room will we be staying in and Rachel said, that a room number wasn't assigned to us yet, which seemed out of the ordinary and then Rachel asked how will we be paying for our stay because our card was declined. Rachel continued to say that very loudly in the lobby with other guest around which embarrassed my elderly parents, who knew that they paid for the room. My parents were trying to tell her that they paid for the room and her only suggestion to us was to call the bank to verify the payment. At this point I was getting irritated because I just finished driving over 4 hours to get to this hotel and Rachel was rude. I wanted to understand what was happening and Rachel then told me that I should, "smile and say thank you to her." At that point I did not want to deal with her anymore. While my dad was on the phone with our bank Rachel yelled across the lobby the last 4 digits of the card number, while other guest were in the lobby. We spent another 20 minutes in the lobby tired and exhausted trying to figure out what happened with no help from Rachel (the 3rd party card decline, it wasnt our card). I worked as a hotel front desk agent for years and I would have never treated a guest the way she did or embarrassed a guest. I would NOT suggest staying here, the customer service is awful, the rooms are decent, but the hotel doesn't offer a shuttle service even though they are close to the airport, not worth the cost or the...
