Read moreThere were many issues during my stay that were more than cleanliness. I encountered rat feces, was bug bitten in my room, mold and moisture, and completely disrespected. I was a speaker at an event for counselora and I was and assigned a room that was incorrect. I then moved again, but there were 3 unattended dogs in the next room and they barked nonstop Saturday. It took 3 attempts to get security on day shift to help. I was dismissed by day managers. The night security and manager finally got my room changed. Unfortunately when I settled into that room, 400 building there was a dirty tub full of hair, and moisture in the room dripping from walls and paneling. I have been physically sick and had no strength to continue room changes, so I placed towels in the door opening (about an inch) to keep the gnats out as best as I could. I have to fly to CA for a surgery and going home at that time was not an option before leaving. I live up north. I took photos of the issues and called multiple times trying to get relief...or acknowledgement of the chaos I went through during the stay. I was hung up on twice by staff during the day, then told to call later. I was promised a call back within 2 hours and no one returned my calls subsequently. I was told that other customers were waiting. I wanted to move to the grand vacations in Orlando as a part of a pre purchased package 2 days before departure that I was scammed into by an agent in 2024 who did not disclose the presentation.
However, HGV Orlando was no better. The room smelled of chemicals so I stayed at Double Tree awaiting the next night. I packed everything I had yet again being unwel, and went back to Orlando HGV. I was given a new room and it smelled terrible as well. Finally after refusing to wait on the manager to see I was in need to help, I had to demand his presence to assist me. He would not come out of the back office and the desk person kept shooing me to the side for "more important and higher class people", or so they assumed based on my sweatshirt and exhaustion from a medical condition.
Finally, the manager had the lady at the desk inform me of sulfur contamination in the water and construction. I was told to call the marketing staff (Solomon or Demarr). Demarr changed the call back number in the notes to his number after I told him I was contacting corporate for a refund of my $111.00. When I called back the general number for help, I got Eric on the phone who gave me the number routed back to Demarr (who claimed to be collections for HGV). He muttered a different number than the one he gave me, so Demarr changed it after I said I was reporting his behavior. I attempted to get my money back from marketing on 3 occasions in the same day and multiple times throughout the past year after they never disclosed a tour. I ONLY took the offer out of desperate attmept to leave my moldy room at Double Tree.
I was blamed by Demarr for "not understanding " the terms because I am autistic. I am really mortified by this experience and spent over $1,000 to feel depleted and taken advantage of. Unfortunately, my disability requests were not honored, and Demarr from Marketing for HGV spoke to me like an idiot and used multiple fear tactics, threatened my stay and spoke slowly to insinuate I was delayed once I told him I was autistic and couldn't keep up with his tactics and nonsense excuses to return the money.
I only give this 2 stars because of the kind security guard at night. He was helpful, as well as the parking attendant on night shift at Double Tree. As an honors member and frequent guest of Hilton, I expected to be treated with dignity and respect like any other customer at Double Tree or HGV Orlando. I will never return to those locations and will update review if resolution and acknowledgement occur from...
Read moreUpdate: We reached out after our last stay here and got a hold of someone who offered to help us during a stay we had upcoming for an event that was being hosted here.
They upgraded our room to a suite which was really nice but immediately when we checked in on Friday and started bringing in our luggage yesterday, the 12th floor of the tower had some sort of leak or something because they had the industrial drying fans out and drying the carpets, the room we're in has a VERY strong mildew/ mold smell. The AC unit had mold in it On top of that everything in the room just feels really damp. There's a spot on the floor that feels like it has water damage or something because the "wood" part of the floor has a spot that when you step on it, it bends and sinks. There's a lot of what looks like mold/ soap scum around the edges of the bathroom. The floors in the bathroom feel really weird, like there's a residue on them. someone did come to our room Saturday evening to check on us. They said they were there to check on our issues. We asked if they wanted to come into the room and smell it for themselves. We showed them where the floor was warped, showed them the leaking shower and they definitely smelled the room. They agreed that everything felt damp and said they would make it right and asked when we would be out of the room so they could have housekeeping come in and clean. We leave and come back later and the room smelled cleaner and eventually we go to bed.
My partner got up around 3am to go to the bathroom and found a large cockroach in the bathroom (video was taken for proof) and came back to me and told me he was going to the front desk to talk to someone. He comes back around 3:40ish after talking to them to close out bags and things since we now know there is a possibility of more bugs in our room, and he goes back to sleep. Around 4:30 in the morning I hear the door to our room open. I hear someone on their phone say something in Spanish that translated to goodbye I love you. They proceeded to hang up the phone, walk to my partners side of the bed which wasn't the side closest to the door, stand over him and say "Housekeeping". They walk into the bathroom for a moment and then leave. This is insanely inappropriate. For one, it was 4:30 in the morning, with no notice that they were coming. And for two, for the sake of adding to why it's inappropriate, we sleep naked, so you can understand how that would feel violating. I felt disgusting and incredibly violated and awful after that. I wish that I wasn't half awake and out of it enough to ask them what was happening and why they were in there or to fully wake up my partner, because again, incredibly inappropriate.
There's only so much I can write in a review on here. But there's also a MASSIVE security issue in this hotel. Our doors to our event were unlocked without our knowledge and the doors were left unlocked with well over $10,000 worth of our personal belongings left inside the room. I could tell this wasn't important to them and to be laughed at made it feel like it was a joke to them. The way the staff aside from Robert and Karen from security that we ended up talking to later, none of them took this seriously.
Due to how unclean and moldy the rooms are my partner and I have been sick since we left.
There's SO many hotels in Orlando that this one should not even be on your list for consideration if you're coming to visit. Do not...
