Between the 18th - 27th December 2024 my partner Ricki and I Calum stayed at this Days Inn hotel. I'm making this review, as I'm a wheelchair user and want to help other wheelchair users.||The staff are brilliant and friendly, couldn't do enough for us. We booked an accessible room with a walk in / roll in bathroom. We arrived about 11.45am and they just let us check in and have the room, because it was already done, which was kind of them. They also took our luggage to the room on the ground floor.||The Room.||It was very spacious for a wheelchair to get around. Laminated floor, which is easier to wheel around on. 2 double beds, which looked high but weren't when you sat on the edge, so it was ok for my short legs LOL. Also, they were very comfortable sleeping. Large bedside cabinets at both sides of the bed that had 4 decent size drawers. A lamp on both sides of the headboard with one plug socket next to them. No USB sockets that we could see unfortunately, so thankfully we had out multi-plugs that has USB sockets. A desk if you wanted to do some work or eat at. There was a big unit that had a TV on top and then a set of drawers, a fridge & microwave underneath. The microwave we didn't use. The fridge, we kept out pop and water in and it was perfect. The TV was big enough, but reception was terrible, as it kept freezing every few minutes. Even the TV in their lobby area did the same. There was a little safe in the corner of the room, which was simple to use. An iron and ironing board are available on request and no charge. There is an AC, for me it was cool enough, but Ricki though it wasn't enough.||The bathroom.||For ours, as you went in, the toilet was located at far left corner. A handrail on the wall and along the back of the toilet. Could do with a pull down handrail on the other side of toilet who are left handed like myself to use. The sink is located in the middle of the bathroom wall. It isn't sat in the usual marble vanity units, so it is far better for wheelchair users as I could get my legs underneath the sink nor did I have to stretch over as it was low enough to use. The glass shelve to the side was too small for the stuff for 2 people. The shower was located to the right of the bathroom and ran the whole length of the wall. The floor into the shower area was flat with no obstacles to navigate around or over. Handrails located around the shower area if you require them. There is a little shelf in one corner for your pieces, but a bit too high for me to use. The shower tap is simple to use, as there is only leaver to turn to the temperature you like, but the water comes on when you turn the leaver, so no messing around. A shower curtain, which isn't to our tastes, but everyones different. The shower was all timed, but I didn't notice a rubber mat to stand on, so be careful. The shower itself was brilliant, as the water had a good pressure, which I love. It took about 4 minutes to warm up though. The water didn't stay within the shower area, so you had water flowing a bit into the bathroom, but have the towel mat on the floor ready to step out onto so you don't slip.||House keeping.||The lady was lovely. However, the bathroom was always kept clean, but the room was iffy. Some days the beds were made perfectly and other times the sheets were just pulled over with the pillows just tossed across the top of the beds. The floors weren't kept clean or wash, because my way of getting around crawling and I would get up off the floor dirty.||The Laundrette.||4 washing machines and 4 dryers, but only 1 washing machine worked. Hopefully they'll replace all of them.||The rooms can do with updating, but for us, we were really please with everything that we saw and experienced. ||We would stay here again 100%!!!||Thanks...
Read moreAlright to start this review I'm gonna clear the air on a couple of things I've personally learned about this place that have given some 1 star or half star reviews
The smells My room didn't have the smells everyone mentions about and a friend of mine was staying here too an I didn't notice a mold smell of any kind. I can't speak on the rest of the rooms not having this issue. The wear & tares As with any building there are going to be issues like this and it can be difficult for some hotels to get to these issues. My room had some cosmetic problems like rust on the door Fram and in the bathroom. The outside part of the hotel is nice an again being honest it dose have signs of wear and tear but these things aren't that off putting.
Ice machine So the two ice machines I used worked well and the one that people talk about being loud is yes LOUD,I think it's like a used car that might be on it's last run or it needs some new parts.
The TV issues So the TV itself didn't have issues in my room and my friends room but both of had noticed that some channels would wig out of glitch up like it would if you had a dish network. I don't know if they fo or not but every station worked great for the most part.
The Elevators The two that I used myself worked but one of them seems to have delay issues or it just runs slow. That same elevator made the most racket that can be off putting an nervous to use.
Staff/room service staff Great people and wonderful to talk with, they are there to help you best way they can to meet your needs or issues you have. I've noticed the office staff took the extra steps with customer service to help a customer with the issues they had and despite how rude the guest was the office staff did not let it phase her and helped me with a lovely warm smile and was so very nice when helping me get my room. It feels nice hearing good morning to the room service staff just in passing or them saying hello how are you doing today. I felt really welcomed here and treated well as a guest.
Fire Alarm did go off but staff assured it wasn't anything dangerous.
The parking lot For the space the hotel has it can be small but it had plenty to offer for guest staying there with alot of handicap parking spaces near and around all fronts of the buildings.
The pool Well kept and cleaned, staff take great care in keeping the pool and the area around the pool clean. Water wasn't dirty and it was fun getting to swim during my stay.
The hotel offers a place to wash your clothes and if you need to iron some of your clothes they can bring a iron board to your room upon request.
Now to the big question did this guy have bugs...
Not really I say that because I found like one bug size of like a ant but it wasn't a ant idk if it was a roach or not. I've seen other reviews on here about the roaches and saw alot of pics and still took a chance with this hotel and during my stay didn't notice any sides the one I mentioned. I won't lie and say that from those reviews I was hesitant to bring my bags in because I didn't want hitchhikers coming back to my home. But overall I had a great stay and was treated...
Read morePROS Good price - compared to other hotels and motels in the area, the prices were very reasonable for the location.
A Stones Throw Away from Activities - Sea World, Universal, Disney, Dezerland Park, Restraunts, etc.
Updated Items in Room - The shower, bed / headboard, and mirror above the sink all seem to have been updated and modern (faux marble stand up shower).
It has a pool - although we didn't use it during our stay, there is a pool for those hot days in Orlando!
Hot water - VERY hot water. Perfect for those who truly love warm showers. Don't worry about there not being any hot water - there certainly is!
CONS Bed sheets are moist from large AC in small room - extremely uncomfortable and gross feeling despite sheets being clean. Bring an extra blanket or three!
No trash can - had to use our own bag for trash. You could ask for a trash can, however, I feel like this should already be provided without having to ask for one.
Found 2 roaches in the room - one translucent baby roach near AC unit on night #1, one large adult roach by bedside table on night #2. Given that this is Florida, it isn't uncommon to see larger roaches searching for water. Especially when it's hot outside. However, this is still a con.
The smoke alarm went off at 4 am waking up everyone in the hotel - Someone was taking a shower, and the "shower steam" set it off. If this is true, and no one was in fact smoking in the room, the smoke alarm's location shouldn't be beside the bathroom given that the water gets so hot and steamy. The bathroom should be better ventilated with this in mind as well. There was only one small vent which was certainly not enough for a steamy hot shower.
A security deposit is given (that's fine) however some items already seem to be near failure (outlets rusted or broken and toilet paper holder is loose about to fall out of the wall) and I believe whoever that breaks on could lose their deposit. Hopefully I'm wrong, but take care not to damage anything or at least take pictures of any areas you notice that look like they're already close to failure.
TAKEAWAY
For the price and location, I would stay here again. Especially to save money. I've seen much worse for more. However, as another reviewer noted, don't expect luxury. If you're only going to be sleeping here like we were and out doing things all day, I say it's not a bad choice. Bring extra blankets and a trash bag out of caution and document anything that looks like it's near failure or broken the moment you get in the...
