Sonesta Select Atlanta Duluth — Hotel in Duluth

It's my BD when I checked in from July 1 to July 5 2025. I got room on the second floor. (209) The elevator smells like weeds, im kinda little disappointed. We enter the room, smell like wet diapers full with urinate kinda shake my head off. I try to understand that maybe the baby was here in this room before ,I spray on on perfume around the room and my son (13 years old) not so happy about it tell me to move, I told im to tired from driving at that time (almost 1 am) I took shower and get ready to sleep. My son took a shower after, and he got locked himself in the restroom, im trying to use something flat like a key and butter knife to open it from outside and saw a door knob already have damage like it happened before. I called reception, and no one answered the phone. Tell my son to calm down. im going to the front dress to get help. Here only one woman she came up to my room and try to use her keys to open the door (on this moment i told her i try before and still not working) she try to called housekeeping and no one pick up the phone as well, she called her manager he also not pick up the phone. I tell her my son is already stuck in the restroom for 30 mins, and she needs to do something quickly before I'm call police. She goes outside and knocks on family that leaves there(I believe) next to my room. A couple of India people came with a keys too. I was super upset and told yhem im called 911 now. Fire man came another 20 mins.and break the door order and free my son. Almost 2.00 am they moved me to room 518. I have no problem, I just want to sleep. The new room refrigerator is not working stain on the floor, but im just falling to sleep. Until on July 5th at 4.00 a.m., the fire alarm was waking up, everyone in the building,someone yelling fire and need to evacuate asap.i got my purse & phone & documents and myson walk to stairs, My son only have t shirt and his jockey on. The fire department came about 20 mins after we on the first floor. It took about 1 hour to settle down. I'm going to ask fire chiefs what happened. He told me the water pipe got busted and thick the alarm on. No, not done yet, experienced with horrible hotel. It was the same woman in front desk that remembered me for the first night, so I asked her if i needed to talk to her manager to see if it was gonna be any compensate to both incidents, she told t can talk to him tomorrow morning before im check out. th day to check out around 9.30, someone knocks on the door and asks my son that.Are we checking out today? I was in the restroom and got upset about it. Why's they have to push to the end. Get all my stuff and go to the front desk demanding to speak the manager. Here is the answer he is not there. He never be here what's ever happened in this place he never be here,he need to show his responsibility and be a man nor quit the freaking job. I left my phone number on the front desk worker until today, July 14, but I still didn't get any call,text, or apologize of these incidents from him.

DO NOT BOOK UNLESS YOU DON'T HAVE STANDARDS. This was the worst hotel that I ever stayed in and not what I would expect from the Sonesta Brand. I am not sure how they have a 3.5 star rating when this is more of a 0-1 star establishment. My sister booked this room for us on booking.com because it was close to her house and in a good area. When we arrived at the hotel around 3:20pm, the front desk went through the entire check- in process, took my credit card for the deposit, then let me know I would have to come back after 4pm for a room because they are still cleaning rooms. That should have been my first red flag that 30mins before scheduled check in that they didn't have any clean rooms. The lobby of the hotel is well kept but once you get past the lobby area you really get to see this hotel for what it is. They only had one working elevator, which was dirty. Once we got off the elevator and arrived on our floor, we were automatically hit with a strong odor and trash. The hallway smelled like a mix of industrial cleaning products trying to mask the smell of urine and cigarette smoke. The hotel has no-smoking signs everywhere however you smell cigarettes throughout and it is extremely strong by the staircase. Once we arrived at the room the smell inside was not any better. The floor inside our room was damp with stain, I am assuming it was wet from them shampooing it which we saw them doing to the room next to us at 4pm. The Bathroom was extremely small like a closet and there was still hair in the corners of the shower. I refused to walk on the floor without shoes and refused to take a shower without flip flops. The bed didn't have a blanket and the pillows were extremely small, basically half the size of a normal pillow. When we went down stairs and asked for additional bedding because ours was not clean they told us that we would have to wait until the morning when housekeeping arrives because they don't have access to the linen. The front desk did give us another flat sheet and said that is all he had. The next morning we went to the front desk and requested for housekeeping to come and clean the room and provide new bediding. After being gone for over 8 hrs we came back to our room to find our door not shut and to the same sheets on the bed that we left in the room still there. I went back to the front desk to complain and he said the same thing about having to wait until tomorrow when housekeeping comes. The guy at the front desk didn't even acknowledge or apologize for the fact that housekeeping left our door open. At this point I got frustrated and told him that was not acceptable because we made the request this morning and it was not done. I would not recommend this hotel and to be honest I don't know if I would stay at another Sonesta after...

I WISH 0 STARS WERE POSSIBLE !!! THIS HOTEL IS ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE! I checked in the hotel at 4:00 PM and I didn’t settle into a decent room until 4:54 PM !!! I had to change rooms 3 times the First room The toilet was running very loud and the Shower had stains in it, I tried using the phone in the room to call the front desk but the phone didn’t even work I tried calling 8 times on my phone but no one ever answered (remind you the receptionist was right by the phone with 0 customers so he could have most certainly answered atleast once) so I go back downstairs to make a complaint The second room they moved me to, the bed sheets had several stains on them, the headboard had sweat stains all over them and the tv was not working at all so I went downstairs to the front desk and asked the receptionist if the can come change the sheets and if he can fix the tv, he passes me the sheets to change myself and he says “I will send my manger to fix it” I said “okay how long because we would to be comfortable in a room where we can watch tv” he says “few minutes I’ll call him” and I asked if there is another way to contact the front desk because I been up and down the 5 minute wait elevator several times just because I no one is answering the front desk phone and he looked up a number on his phone and gave to me so I go back upstairs and waited for the manager for about 25 minutes no one ever came so I tried calling the front desk once again using the number the receptionist gave to me GUESS WHAT THIS MAN GAVE ME THE NUMBER TO THE OTHER SONESTA HOTEL IN NORCROSS SO I GO BACK DOWNSTAIRS WITH ALL MY STUFF AND ASK FOR ANOTHER ROOM, WHEN I GET TO THE 3RD ROOM EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE UNTIL I GO TO TAKE A SHOWER THATS WHEN I SEEN A WHOLE BUNCH OF BLACK SPECKS ON THE INSIDE SHOWER CURTAIN THAT WAS ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING IT WAS FILLED WITH SKIN DIRT AND WHAT APPEARS TO BE POSSIBLE BLACK MOLD!!! I GO TO TURN ON THE TV THIS MORNING ALL TO FIND OUT THAT THE TV ISNT WORKING AT ALL I CANT EVEN WATCH SIMPLE TV?? I GO DOWNSTAIRS FOR THE 600th TIME TO ASK THE SANE RECEPTIONIST TO FIX THE TV AND HE SAYS TO ME “THE WIFI ISNT WORKING” I ASK WHEN WILL IT BE BACK ON THIS IS SUCH A INCONVENIENCE HE SAYS “ IM NOT SURE ITS XFINITY PROBLEM” I SPENT $175 JUST TO STAY AT THIS HOTEL FOR IT TO BE THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER !!!!
