Alexz was amazing and very friendly. We checked in at 0930 and she had rooms available that early for us. We came in dropped our bags went on with our business. Check in was easy. I noticed small breakfast set up in hallway near check in. it was an end table with a few prepackaged snacks. I thought for sure that could not be it. but since it was 0930 maybe they had put most of it away.
The next morning I was in lobby from 0700 to 0900 and there was no set up at all. Not that I wanted anything. I just thought it was so random that the day before there was stuff out and nothing the next day. The pictures on their website showed this sprawling spread of food and beverages including multiple hot items. the breakfast area was all blocked off. Alexz did tell us at check in that the lady usually doing the breakfast had family emergency and there may not be a hot item.....
On my reservation it showed the pool area closed but I saw people swimming in pool. as you walked down the hallway to get to your room you saw peoples trash left out in the hallway, mostly old food packages that were discarded in hallway and not in any type of trash can.
The hotel was close to airport and the location right off the freeway. bed was soft and comfortable but noises from air conditioning made you wake up every 10 minutes. the room had a small old tv (not that I was there to watch it) the room was comfortable otherwise. the tub had this weird dirt film all around it, could have been water stains. did not want to find out which.
I checked out early and asked about bag drop off ands told to leave bags in rooms and we would not be charged for the night. we got in at 1530 and the assistant manager said we had to be charged because the maids had gone home and they could not resell the room if it was never cleaned. she seemed like she just wanted an excuse to charge us and was very insincere...none the less I did not really care as I was not planning on spending another night in El Paso and I was getting reimbursed anyway. (but you as a guest might not feel that way and that is why I put it in my review.)
I checked out 2 days ago and still have not...
Read moreI usually like Holiday Inn Expresses. This location is NOT up to the typical standard. Hotel is outdated and very worn, rooms have a mild unpleasant scent, amenities they say they have are not available, and some of the staff were very lazy and unhelpful. The walls are PAPER thin!!! You can hear 100% of what the person in the next room is saying. Very creepy and annoying!
I was at this location for a month due to work. Upon check-in was told rooms would be cleaned every 5 days. Not ideal, but no problem. After 11 days of never getting cleaning I inquired and was told I had to request my room be cleaned since they were at capacity. So- let guests know this upon check-in and hire more cleaning staff.
The carpets were cleaned while I was there and they never even moved the furniture (even small chairs). My fridge was broken and would randomly turn off. Hallway was always filled with garbage.
Ran out of toilet paper, called the front desk and was told I had to come get it myself at 11PM. Go downstairs to find two employees chatting it up at the front desk. Also, the front desk would not pick up if you called from your room phone. You had to call from a cellphone. Different occasions asked for help from employees and some were friendly and helpful others were the opposite.
Says they have laundry on the website at this location- they said they didn’t, not that it was broken. Didn’t offer remedy, I had to ask and was able to do it next door at Staybridge.
One elevator was down for days. The room next to the elevator was always open with a fan blowing in it like it was damp or something.
Finally, if the aforementioned items are not enough to tell you to stay away- then let this be it- the rooms have a unpleasant smell and walls are paper thin. A coworker of mine was also staying at this location and bought candles for us in hopes of masking the unpleasant smell the rooms had. Also, I had many neighbors throughout my month-long stay and although I never met them in person, knew a lot about them since I could hear everything going on in their rooms! Very frustrating when you’re...
Read moreAs a professional wildlife and landscape photographer, I travel around a LOT and back in 2019, I decided to rely as much as possible on Holiday Inn Express as I have found the quality to be consistent from location to location. I have written excellent reviews in the past and every stay in the past at this location had been GREAT until this stay.
I had booked the stay on April 29, 2021 for a stay on June 24, 2021 and requested a first floor room due to the extensive amount of gear. I stay at this location due to proximity to the airport and the free parking. The shuttle doesn't run early enough usually so I just use Uber, no big deal.
Upon arrival after a VERY long day, I was told my room was on the third floor and when I inquired as to the fact I requested a first floor room in April, I was told they can't always do that. So, what is the point of being an Elite Member? Which I wasn't greeted as such either.
Second, when I asked the front desk lady if I needed to complete the white form for the parking, she gave me a blank stare. She knew nothing about the form. I even told her it was in the white notebook. When I told her the length of my trip and how long the vehicle would be there, she gave me a concerned look. I had called the hotel before I ever booked my first stay in 2019 to acquire about any limit and was told they were fine with the usual length of my trips. She eventually found the form in the notebook and I completed it. Training is obviously lacking.
I drag all my gear up a very dirty and not swept elevator to my room only to have my key not work. Have to take EVERYTHING back down to front desk and get key to work. When I get in my room it was very warm and I needed to get up at 3:15 am. It was already close to 9:30 pm. It didn't really cool off much before I needed to get to sleep.
As an Elite Member, I expect more. A subsequent experience like this will have me searching for a new hotel in the...
