Extended Stay America Suites- Columbia - Columbia Parkway — Hotel in Ellicott City

PLEASE STAY AWAY. I'll start with about 4yrs ago i had a problem at this same location. The wash machine decided to breakdown while my clothes were in it on the 1st day of my 3day stay along with a shower issue and it was the last room available in which seemed like ALL OF HOWARD CO. Luckly the manager at that time fix the problem QUICK.... FAST AND VERY PROFESSIONALY (reason for my return). She got me a room at the Comfort Suites not to far from there...... I only paid for 2 nights of the stay at the comfort suite..... The last night was free and she compt me a free forth night for the trouble. ( THAT WAS about 4 yrs AGO). Fast forward 5/1/16. Once again. EVERYTHING in the area was booked...(concerts at the Merriweather and Weddings from what i was told) but its Cold and been raining for days. WELL WHAT A MISTAKE TO GO BACK. 1 room left(smoking double bed). Im a Non Smoker And was with my Lady. Not 5min had gone by that i hear a yell. Baby the Sink is over flowing the water wont go down. So i go down to imform the desk. This Nice Young woman explains shes sorry. But its the last room and just to talk to the manager in the morning. OK FINE.... Its late i'll do that. Back in the room while chatting and trying to have a movie put us to bed. We notice the TV is loud because we were trying to drown out the sound of water. Im back in the bathroom ant the TOILET IS RUNNING...... NON-STOP.......ALL NIGHT LONG THIS WENT ON. Then noticed another loud IRRITATING NOISE as we TRYED TO SLEEP. Well what do you know. Its the refrigerator/ freezer LOUDER than the TOILET. SO I HAD TO PULL the refrigerator off the wall in order to unplug it to stop the noise. WE GOT NO SLEEP AT ALL. So i took Pictures and videos and presented them at check out to the Manager on duty. Her response was...SHE CANT DO NOTHING BECAUSE WE STILL STAYED. (Remember...COLD AND RAINING WITH NOTHING AVAILABLE IN THE AREA). So after the photos and videos. She decide to to $60 off the room. I assured her i wasnt about the money and that i was gonna contact Corporate. Because now you have a customer that TRAVELS ALOT..... And HOTELS ALOTT. And i had just had THE WORST F** EXPERIENCE EVER IN MY YRS. We wasnt due to leave until 2days later. We cut my stay short and headed home. Didnt even shower that morning. End up washing our faces in the sink in the kitchen being it was the Cleaniest Working appliance in the room. Im TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED. PS.... I was miss covers off one of the beds.....& the beds are...

Some of the information in these reviews is actually very misleading, especially in regards to the kitchen. These are my impressions after my first week here.

Overall, I've enjoyed staying here so far. As an avid cooker I use the kitchen on a daily basis. The bed is comfortable and there's enough space to organize clothes. As someone who does not have an unlimited data plan, the internet speed alone is the most frustrating aspect to deal with here.

CONS: CUSTOMER SERVICE - Calling the number listed on Google under the hotel does not get you the desk. It gets you someone in an office offsite somewhere answering your questions with vague pieces of information that aren't useful. In trying to prepare for my move-in, I was attempting to get a list of provided kitchen accessories and the internet speed, both of which they couldn't provide for no discernible reason other than they did not know. INTERNET - I had better speeds a decade ago using dial up. Youtube will take 10 minutes to load a 4 minute video at 480p so you can imagine how well Netflix will do. For those interested in a measured internet speed, I used the Ookla Speed Test app and measured .75mb DOWN and .36mb UP. They also offer additional speeds at "up to 2.5x faster" for ~$25/month, although they couldn't tell me how fast that was going to be either.

PROS: STAFF - The general consensus is that the staff is awesome. This is absolutely true. They've been nothing but kind and helpful at all hours of the day. KITCHEN - The kitchen is small but functional. An electric stove top with two burners (small and large-ish), a small microwave, moderately sized full refrigerator, and an adequate amount of counter and cabinet space allow for cooking and meal prep. KITCHEN ACCESSORIES - They supplied everything you'd need to cook and eat homemade meals including: One large and small plate, one bowl, One tea & coffee cup, standard sized cups, silverware (one fork, butter knife, steak knife, and spoon), One small pot and medium sized pan, a toaster, a dish drying rack, dish soap, and a towel. They have additional options which DO include a coffee pot. You can get all or none of these items simply by going to the front and asking. They do not require returning at the end of the day and you keep them throughout your stay.

Horrible experience from check inn. The front desk computers were down there wasn’t an agent at the desk the laundry agent checked us in with barely knew any English and quite an attitude that she was doing the desk and her job. Request the third floor as I don’t like people above me. Walked onto the room and there were chicks of glass all over the floor . There was so much noise and stomping all night from the floor above us. No sleep at all. Each time we flushed our toilet I had to remove the flush box lid push down on the fill valve and make sure it filled. The shower if you tried to fill the tub and the shower puller was not up for a shower the shower still was running. Called for maintenance no one ever came. Went to the muffin and coffee stand had a medium size thermal mug and went to fill it. The evil non friendly twit behind the desk yelled at me. Said hey don’t ever do that again you use the plastic cups !!! I said there no side and you can make more! Now this was around 815 am there was no muffins no breakfast bars no oatmeal left she wouldn’t restock it! Breakfast was to go until 9:30 am. Asked for a extended check out was told there would be a charge was told I could stay till 12 pm. At 1045 am I Went to pull my car up to the front to go load the luggage cart and take down and load my car and then go shower to head out. Well I went to the elevator and pushed the button and nothing happened . I was told by the housekeeper it was broken take the stairs. I take the stairs and went to the desk and said it would have been nice if they have informed us that the elevator was broken because of my partners asthma and schedule m. And so we could have been out of the room accordingly and I ask if there was eta on it because fixed she’s got an attitude and said well no. And I went and moved my car i said I have 10 huge bags to move so I will be over 12 o’clock and I won’t be being charged as you didn’t inform me and there’s a phone and you could have knocked on the door. I go up and jump in the shower I hear my door my partner comes in and says they they knocked and advised 12 o’clock I called down she’s said 12 o’clock. I then advised that wouldn’t be happening and I had to go as the clock was ticking. Do not stay here this is the saddest ecxcuse for a hotel and long term hotel ever. Piss poor...
