Edit: WOW - just got the response from the owner and honestly, I really DO NOT recommend this place. I don't need to be lectured by a company that doesn't use modern technology to make sure that communication mistakes don't happen. Thank you for implying a motel would be better suited for me, it's good to know what you think of previous paying customers. The entire trip to Eureka Springs left a sour taste in my mouth, and now the owner's attitude is just the cherry on top. Will definitely NEVER be staying with you again. You should be embarrassed to talk to paying customers this way. Very unprofessional.
Original review: I had so looked forward to this vacation. I booked our treehouse (Big Pine) back in April, asking that we check in on September 7 and check out on September 10. My fiance and I planned for a three day weekend.
The first night, we had a bat in our room and had to get it out. Not sure where it came from, but it bothered me for the rest of the weekend. Also, the bathtub does not drain very well; took at least two hours to drain from full to mostly empty. Lastly, the remote for the TV didn't work to control the DVD player; and the DVD player itself didn't really work (disc kept freezing; our movie played fine on our laptop); so we couldn't use it.
Saturday went fine, and I thought the woman in the office was very friendly.
However on Sunday, midway through our day, I got a text message saying that she would have to charge us for a third night because our things were still in our cabin. When I called to explain that I had reserved three nights, she informed me that my reservation had only been made for two nights. On top of that, she gave us 15 minutes from that point to get back into town and get our stuff out of the cabin.
I was literally in tears and very confused, as the confirmation note I had written while I was on the phone with the staff - because the staff never sent me any kind of email confirmation of our stay - did indeed verify that I had asked for three nights' stay.
When my fiance went to return the key, the office lady offered us another night at a slightly discounted price, but we had already spent way more than we wanted to. $330 for a Friday and Saturday night. While the treehouse idea is cute, honestly this was just too expensive for us. The accommodations were cute, but I do wish we had just stayed somewhere cheaper. I'm giving 2 stars because a) my reservation was booked incorrectly, b) the staff was pretty rude about informing us of that fact, and c) the amenities were not all they were...
Read moreEdit: WHAT THE HECK? His response only proves my point. I booked through a site that they setup and approve but it is apparently my fault for not also going to their website and reading the fine print? This guy really needs to learn a thing or two about customer service. After reading reviews it seems he has called the cops on a guest for requesting a receipt and told guests that it’s perfectly normal for your room to be all wet when you check in. He was about as polite and professional as his response to my honest and accurate review when he called and canceled my reservation.
OP: Very disappointed. I booked a room and received confirmation only to be told that I had to book a second night to keep the reservation. I understand policies but I shouldn’t have been allowed to book a single night if that goes against the policy. I spoke with a very apathetic person who was not very understanding or appreciative of the inconvenience that this caused and he simply told me “too bad”. If this is the type of service I was paying $200 a night for I’m glad I won’t be staying there. We will be choosing one of the many other options in Eureka in the future that will appreciate our business. Grand treehouse resort response: Response from the owner 7 hours ago Im very disappointed in YOU!!! I called you to inform you of our policy if you would have look on our website it plainly states on all Holidays and special events two to three nite min you went through Booking.com which should have not let you reserve one nite stay on New Years Eve..I saw this and called you right away to inform you ..You were nasty on the phone and I tried to show some compassion by telling you its to bad the policy is like this I was note being rude but sympathetic so I was not being apathetic toward you...Again I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.but next time you give a business a one star let make sure you get the story...
Read morePlace was generally pretty nice. It was super cute because it was this little cottage that was perfect for a weekend out with your significant other. When we arrived there was no sign indicating the office from the way we came in, I think there was one for the actual entrance. Not sure though. When we went into the office the lady was nice and told us different places to go to for the weekend. When we came into our cottage it was like wow factor because I haven’t ever been in my “own” cottage before. Nicely decorated. Unfortunately there was still leftover coffee inside the coffee maker and there was a missing coffee packet. I also did not get the orange juice they said they would provide until the last night I was there. There was definitely some bugs hanging around but that’s kinda hard to avoid. The jacuzzi isn’t really a jacuzzi it’s just a large jacuzzi tub. Our particular cottage was the Swiss chalet 1 which has an outdoor shower. The outdoor shower was pretty filthy and didn’t have an kind of curtains on one side to hide yourself. Needless to say we did not use it. My favorite part about the cottage was the little back deck. It was really nice to just sit out there and look at the trees. My biggest complaint is that it seemed like it would be in a remote area but it is not. It’s really close to the road and in Arkansas there’s a lot of people with big revving trucks who like to show off. It was really annoying to the point that I just went back inside because it wasn’t peaceful sitting out on the deck during the day. I also didn’t like how the cottages are right next to you so if you want total privacy you aren’t gonna get it. It’s also overpriced in my opinion. It’s a place I think everyone should go to once just because it’s cute and if you wanna be close to town then you’ll like it. This place didn’t meet up my expectation especially for $160 a night. I would not...
