A stunning and charming New England hotel located in Falmouth, Cape Cod. Not your typical season to visit the Cape, but boy is it still magical ā„ļø There’s so much to do during winter between the waterside snow-covered hikes, wineries, breweries, cozy restaurants, and even sweet treat spots for ice cream and cupcakes. Here’s what I liked most about The Coonamessett: āļø The Room Decor- This king suite you see here reflects the nostalgic Cape elements with a modern twist. A perfect combination of contemporary & classic Cape Cod with décor like pickled floors, shiplap, ticking fabric and knotty pine. So stunning! āļø The BED 😱- I am not lying when I say this is one of the most comfortable hotel beds I’ve slept in. It usually takes me a night or 2 to adjust to the bed but I was OUT and sleeping like a baby the first night. I think it’s because of how soft the comforter isšŸ‘ŒšŸ» āļø The Event Space - Equipped with a grand piano, fancy bar, decorated tables and view overlooking James Pond, my inner Event Planner came out full force again and made me want to plan a party šŸ˜… It was beautiful. āļø The Location - Less than a mile away resides downtown Main Street with restaurants, bars, shops and art galleries. We were able to see lighthouses, vista points and go on a hike all within a few miles of the hotel. I highly suggest this hotel for couples or small groups as it has all the Cape vibes you need with a laid-back atmosphere, class and elegance all at once. It would also be absolutely stunning for a wedding, as the event space is ideal. The hotel was very cozy and renovated but did lack several conveniences that a larger chain would have. Upon check-in, the concierge told me that I had 2 reservations, which I knew I had cancelled one of them. She asked to see my cancellation confirmation email…giving me a heart attack and made me second guess if I forgot to cancel the extra $2,000 reservation. She then found it herself that I did... As to the stay, we did not request a daily housekeeping service, however there was not even an extra roll of toilet paper in the bathroom for us. So when we ran out, I had to text the after-hours number for the toilet paper, and had to call the next morning as well, and then I saw a worker outside and asked him for the TP- quite the inconvenience after trying to ask 3x for it. Also, on the last day of our stay I dropped something in the bedroom and went to pick it up underneath the dresser and found a soiled baby diaper under the dresser. The second morning I felt something sharp in the twin bed, and there was an open safety pin in the bedding, not belonging to me. It was very bizarre. The 2 bdrm suite was spacious and the living room and kitchen table was nice, but paper towels or a few napkins would have been convenient in case of a small spill, like we needed them for. The hotel breakfast was nice with bagels and cream cheese, pastries and small egg bites, yogurt with toppings, etc. The hotel bar served a few nice cocktails but they seemed short staffed both nights and it took upwards of 25 minutes to receive a cocktail.

  1. the room which we stayed in (room 22) was loaded with the smell of bleach. When entering the took it was so poignant that after a short time in the room we all had severe headaches. Despite airing it out on day two it still was there so much so that bag every time we walked into the room you got smacked in the face with the chemicals. The cleaning ladies came to try and use a different cleaning supply but that too was bleach.
  2. The two sewer caps outside that building, gave off a horrible sent of raw sewerage. When walking to/ from Ellis Tavern you would get the wiff of raw sewage. This of course then made me wonder if the horrific bleach smell was to hide the outside smell of raw sewage.
  3. The fridge inside our room was not regulated so it froze all our food and burst one or the bottles inside leaving a mess for us to clean up.
  4. All that aside however is small in comparison to the hospitality. Your establishment has by far the worse bar staff! Maybe one bag Apple in the bunch but there were three incompetent bartenders all of which left such a horrible taste in my my mouth I don’t think I will ever return…. In Friday night (2/28/25) for my mother’s 80th we chose to celebrate at your restaurant. We had ordered lemon drop martinis with a sugar rim. First round came out that had salted rim. So we sent them back. Second round came out and again, both had a salted rims. If that wasn’t bad enough the one I got was pure alcohol certainly not a lemon drop martini- not even a lemon on the rim, not even yellow in color. I went to the bartender to bring it back to complain that again we got salted rims and I had no idea what this was but it certainly wasn’t even a lemon drop martini. The response and attitude was ā€œhow dare I question himā€ when I showed him the difference in color from the first one he then couldn’t argue. Erica was very apologetic and I believe she made it herself to rectify the mistake. I thought to give them a second chance so On Saturday evening 3/1/25 my mom was not feeling well so my sister and I had gone to the bar at Ellis Tavern to get our mom clam chowder and have a few drinks. On the menu was a lavender lemon drop so we each order one. Now it was new bartenders (a female name Linda and a older male who was shorter then the previous night and not as thin). Linda let us know the man could take us as patrons she seemed to enjoy her regulars… when we asked for the drink that was listed on your menu the man response to our request was ā€œOf course you would order that!ā€ to which I thought maybe he didn’t know how to make it. He then preceded to tell us he had no blue curaco for the drink and he could replace it with some ā€œraspberry alcoholā€ that he had. I then thought ok I will get a glass of the Gershwin wine on the menu instead. There was a local seated at the bar drinking a glass of the red on the menu. The woman said to the bartender it should be fine she had ordered a glass instead of a bottle, to which the bartenders response to the local was ā€œyou are a regular you can get whatever you want. These two ladies just drove over the Falmouth bridge and plopped themselves down hereā€ if you could have seen the shock on my face! I couldn’t believe the man actually said that out loud! To which my sister then said ā€œexcuse me we are paying guests staying here at the hotel!!!ā€ and then it was supposed to be all is forgiven because he then said ā€œOh well then in that case you can get whatever you want!ā€. I took my business...

After 20 years in the hospitality industry I have to say that I was so blown away by the level of service that I received from The Coonamessett staff that I had to take some time to share this review.

We had a big blizzard of 22 this past weekend. I lost electric and the Internet and even my generator was giving me trouble. Fortunately the Coonamessett still had rooms and they have a generator so they never lost power. I booked two nights over the phone with Trushan. Now despite the fact that I was so stressed out and worried about everything she was so calm and peaceful on the phone that she literally put my mind at such ease. It was a prepaid reservation and I was clear that there was a no cancellation policy.

However as luck would have it 2 feet of snow kept me from being able to drive to the property. I excepted the fact that I wasn’t going to get refunded as I know how policies work.

To my surprise I got a call back the next day from Trinity and she explained that Trushan had gotten approval to refund me back since they understood it would’ve been hazardous for me to drive.

Please keep in mind I didn’t even request this. They just called me and took the liberty to do it on their own!

it happens that I’m a co-owner of a plant-based skin and beauty care company. One of our specialties is working in the hospitality industry making private label and custom label bathroom amenities for boutique properties across the US. Our products are top quality, vegan, gluten-free, non-GMO, organic, and made with love. So we’ve had lots of experience talking to exceptional properties that see the value in providing a quality product to their guests.

So with that in mind I finally was able to get out on the road today and I drove to the Coonamessett with four gift boxes of my companyā€˜s products to give to the staff members as a thank you and a token of our appreciation for how they helped our situation during a very challenging time.

With all the restrictions of Covid and all the stress of travel because of that, I give such a high praise to the whole team at the Coonamessett. Even despite the fact I wasn’t able to be an actual guest, meeting everyone today and seeing how friendly and happy they are tells a big story to me. It tells me that management knows how to treat their staff excellent. Because with labor shortages being what they are, for them to have a full team that are evidently very happy to be where they are working tells a lot! Jane, Dawn, Jenn- all of them are exceptional at what they do! And I assured them from now on any opportunity when I need accommodations for myself, my family, my friends, or my business peers they will be my first...

We recently stayed onsite for a wedding weekend, and the ceremony and reception were also held at the property. ||Our three star review indicates a mix of positive aspects and areas for improvement. We would certainly return to this property for a wedding-type event in the future.||There are some strong positives on the property. We stayed in a room in the "Village" which is separate but adjoining the main building on property. From the outside, the building looks tired. But the inside revealed a charming, recently renovated, and tastefully done guestroom. The space was clean and inviting. The bed, mattress, and linens were in excellent condition. There is no central air conditioning; however, the window air conditioning unit in the main bedroom was quiet and sufficient for our September stay.||We had some reservations about this property due to previous reviews about must, mildew, and mold smells. We encountered NOTHING like this in our room in the village and we encourage others to be skeptical of those strong negative reviews, which we suspect are dated and were made prior to the renovations.||There are some areas for improvement for this Property. For all the charming renovation in the "Village," and it really was lovely, the walls between guest rooms are poorly insulated for sound. We could hear the bathroom fan running all night in one room, and, perhaps most importantly we regularly could hear conversations, cellphone rings and beeps, etc. in the bedroom immediately adjacent to us. This is perhaps the biggest drawback to the Village area of the property.||We had a good experience at the wedding reception. Facilities were ample and the food was good. Staff at the wedding were excellent--very good service. I would say overall the bride and groom were well-served by hosting their reception here.||We had a mixed experience at the onsite bar the night before the wedding; the bartender attempted to pass of day-or-two opened room-temperature stored red wine as freshly opened; however after some back and forth she did accommodate by opening a new bottle. The spirit of service wasn't fully there on that one but the situation was resolved amicably. ||We had to make a couple itinerary tweaks prior to our arrival. Front desk / management staff were highly responsive and very accommodating, so kudos there.||One last note. At about $499 per night prior to tax on a wedding-block booking, the price felt too steep for the experience. We'd pay it again for the convenience on a wedding weekend, but all other things being equal this is really felt like more of a $300 - $350 per...
