I love antique malls and was so excited to come here when visiting family in Amelia Island, but sadly, I was a little disappointed by it. The prices were excessively inflated, and the selection of goods was not what I’d hoped. Many pieces were not in good condition or were not antiques, rather they were just people’s semi-old, useless junk. I totally understand that part of the antiquing experience is digging through a bunch of crap, so to speak, but the beauty in it is the hidden gems you find along the way. Sadly, there were no hidden gems here, and if there were, they were massively overpriced. The browsing experience was both so underwhelming and so overwhelming at the same time due to the massive, minimally-organized amounts of completely uninteresting things being sold. That being said, the staff was very, very kind, and made the experience much more pleasant! Additionally, if you’re into designer-items, they had a pretty great and varied selection of things like handbags, boots, tops, jewelry, and more! However, they did still come with a fairly hefty price tag, even for a designer item. All in all, I probably wouldn’t find myself inside this store again, but there are a few nice things about this...
Read moreWe have been making the trip from Jacksonville to Fernandina to shop the Antique stores for 17 plus years. We used to frequent Eight Flags and made several purchases of items big and small, expensive and inexpensive over the years. The decor was always pleasant and there was the usual assortment of booths; some with way over-priced items, some that appear to be showing off collections, and some with cool or interesting items, even treasures. In recent years, when Ronda was behind the desk; we would find engaging conversation and great customer service. When Kostas was behind the desk; not so much. We find antique store picking to be like fishing; sometimes perfect items abound, and sometimes you just browse. About a year ago it was a browse day in Eight Flags. Kostas in his surly way asked if I had found anything. When I responded, "Not today," he snidely remarked, "Maybe in another 20 years." We were in Fernandina this week and again couldn't find the time for Eight Flags. We have found time for the other neighborhood antique stores with more consistent customer service. I hope this...
Read moreDecided to visit a few antique shops during our weekend getaway. The cashier was super sweet. It’s a bit dark in the shop itself, pretty big inventory, and more on the expensive side compared to Trailer Park antique shop (right down the street). I was very disappointed to find a cute framed bible verse for ten dollars and when my husband and I were ready to check out the cashier was confused for some reason. She looked at it and wasn’t sure if it was for sale despite having a $10 sticker on the back of the frame. She called whoever the owner was (not sure who she was referring to) to see if she could sell it. Of course, the owner didn’t pick up twice. Ultimately, the cashier was confused on what to do and asked if we were going to be in town longer (I guess to hear back from the owner to see if she could sell it)and we weren’t. I wasn’t going to hassle the cashier or beg for a $10 frame even though I liked it a lot. It was a very bad experience compared to the great experience we had at another thrift store down the street. I guess double check with staff to see if things are...
