This property was not my first choice but it was a great choice for my family reunion. My concerns when finding a hotel was cost, room sizes, indoor pool, grills, kitchen,.meeting space, location and reviews. There had been a few bad reviews that had me pass this hotel by but when I learned the other similar hotels in the area didn't have availability or meeting room I narrowed it down to here and two other places.
In the end this was a good choice although a bit over our budget. It hit most of my marks. Usually I get a free meeting space or room after booking so many rooms and they didn't do that here even after asking. The cost was also higher then the Springhill (kitchen, grill) or Residence Inn (few double rooms) but the other two didnt have all my requirements. The other Homewood Suites in the area one was booked full and the other had an outdoor pool. The other similar hotels outside of Residence Inn looked not up to par when visiting
Everyone in my group loved the rooms and hotel. The service from the group planner Dawn was excellent she helped everyone get the accommodations they needed. I came and toured the property before signing the contract to compare to other hotels in area on my list and this was a hands down winner. They need more Homewood suites it will be my go to hotel for now on.
The meeting room was a good size too. My group got a bit loud in the lobby but no issues from staff or other guest. The hotel was full this weekend we stayed with a wedding, our Reunion, and a sports team in addition to regular guest. We ran late in the meeting room the first night and the staff were nice about it. On the last night we left to go to dinner before getting everything out and again no problems with staff
I wanted extra towels after using ours to go to pool no problem from staff. (Homewood Munster, IL a few weeks ago made us exchange towels so I was worried). Pool does have towels but I wasn't sure.
My great uncle had a medical emergency staff again helpful beyond measure. Called EMS, kept us updated, etc. Even asked about him later.
The rooms are really nice and updated. The weather changes outside left the rooms cold but it would if been the same at home. In morning it was raining, damp and chilly in afternoon hot and at night damp again outside so I was playing with the thermostat to get it right a d never did get fully comfortable but I blame it on users and mother nature not hotel.
The staff was so helpful, we forgot toothbrushes they had them. The grills an awesome touch just wish they were covered ad I've seen at other Homewood I've looked at. Hit tub out of order but Dawn let me know this although I kept hoping it'd be fixed before our visit. My only disappointment was breakfast I love waffle stations at hotels because it ensures you get something hot as pancakes are usually not. Also two days in a row it was sausage I expected bacon at least one of the days.
For the most part I heard nothing in my room and the layout of the hotel ensures folks in the meeting space, lobby or dinning area don't disturb those in their rooms. The fire alarm went off on Friday in the middle if the night but stopped quickly not sure what that was. My room was by an exit door on first floor and if you're a light sleeper avoid any rooms by outside doors. The door closing is loud. For me it was no problem. Parking space was at a premium since the hotel was sold out but I found a spot way in the back when returning from dinner on Saturday night. It is well lit though and there were lots of cameras inside the public areas
Overall this is an excellent property with great staff who were pleasant, helpful and took pride in the property they worked at. I spoke to one maintenance person on the elevator telling him how much I liked the place and staff. His response "we think of our guest as guest at our hone and try to treat them as such"! I can tell by how great they take care of the property and the...
Read moreI chose this place a a quick staycation for my daughter's 7th birthday. It was appealing to me because it offers 2 bedroom/2 bathroom suites, an indoor pool and complimentary breakfast. Upon check-in, it was NOT so appealing. The greeting I received from what I later found to be the "guest service manager" left much to be desired. I'm used to the Hilton brand being warm and welcoming, that was not the case here. As she checked me in, I never had her undivided attention, she proceeded to not only answer the business phone, but her personal phone as well. She couldn't seem to complete my simple request of keeping the card on file for incidentals that I reserved the room with and paying the balance out right, once I became frustrated and line continued to mount behind me, I just conceded to allow all charges to my card on file. After checking in, I left to retrieve my belongings from the car as well as my mom and daughter. When we entered back into the lobby, I was carrying my daughter's birthday cake, after all what is a birthday without cake, when the same "guest service manager" proceeds to yell at me across the atrium that cake is NOT allowed in the hotel. I have never been so embarrassed......since when has cake not been allowed in a hotel? She proceeds to tell me that I signed a strick "no party" policy and I responded with how does a cake constitute a party🤔 Again my daughter turned 7, she only wanted to swim, eat pizza and enjoy cake with her family and a school friend, not a party with 2 children and 3 adults. I asked to be shown where in the policy it says no cake, as I had just purchased this pretty expensive, Cold Stone, ice cream cake for us to enjoy after pizza. This woman is being completely unreasonable, I understand the hotel must have experienced quite a bit to enact such a policy, but you're ruining my daughter's day and prior to a few moments ago I had no idea such policy existed. I didn't receive any of this information with my confirmation, which probably would've saved me some time, money and anguish. Once, I requested the information of someone above her level, her rudeness went to a different level and she began to recite her general manager's at me, it wasn't until I specifically asked her to either provide me with a card, which she interrupted me and stated that the general manager had no cards available and then I asked if she could write her contact information down did she FINALLY comply. I'm mentally and emotionally exhausted at this point. I used to seek out Hilton brand for the service and because they are unionized. I've found in my past few visits, especially this one I probably need to explore other options as there is no lack of options in the hospitality industry. I did email said general manager on Saturday morning before I even checked out and I am still awaiting a response or at the very least an acknowledgement. Moral of the story, all that glitter isn't gold. Spend your money elsewhere, somewhere you are valued and...
Read moreI always use the Hilton brand for lodging when necessary. I have stayed at this particular Homewood before, but I will not again in the near future. The staff members were rude and customer service seemed unimportant to them. I checked in digitally and got my children settled into our 2 bdrm suite and then went to retrieve our things. We waited several minutes in the lobby for someone to help us. When the staff member poked her head out of a door, she seemed annoyed and appeared to be in conversation with someone. I was rudely asked, "what do you want?" Not, "how can I help you" or "is there something that you need" or any other friendly thing that could've been asked. I informed her that we needed a luggage cart to get our things to the 2nd floor room. She said, "We don't have any. The customers take them and leave them and don't bring them back...what am I supposed to do about that?" I didn't have an answer for her. She became more visibly annoyed, with only her head still poking out, she asked "anything else?" I walked away to look for the carts myself. We couldn't find one and ended up having to hand carry 4 suitcases, Christmas gifts, groceries for our stay, and a box of Christmas decorations through the maze that lead to the elevator and then to our room.
The room itself was spacious. However we were quickly able to make a list of things that were unsafe or just inconvenient.
I am closing on a house in a week and had planned to stay there until we received our keys. We decided to return our half empty home, rather than spend more money at the Homewood for the poor service and obviously...
