We checked in without a reservation which was not a problem as this RV park had ample available spaces. I was very patient while a new clerk was being trained and was registering the guest that preceded me. When my turn came, I requested a site with water and electric for my 30 amp Class C Motorhome (no towed vehicle). I was assigned site #37 and paid the quoted rate by cc. Unfortunately, I discovered another guest had independently relocated and occupied site #37 unbeknownst to the office staff. So they rebooked me into site #38, but before I could put the RV in gear to move to #38, the trainer came out to apologize as they had just discovered the site had been previously reserved for another guest and that we should occupy site #40. At this point my wife and I decided to drive to dinner and then spend a couple of hours at a nearby casino. When we returned at 11:00 PM, we discovered that site #40 did not have 30 amp service. Being tired after a long day's drive we opted to boondock in the site assigned to us and to resolve the issue with the office staff in the morning. Unfortunately, after reading the rules to determine when quiet time ends (so I could start the generator for heat, refrigeration and microwave), I discovered running generators in this location were prohibited. So cold, hungry and in need of hot coffee, we drove to a place nearby for a wonderful breakfast. We returned to the park at 9:00 AM to address the request for a small refund. The morning clerk had no idea how to issue a credit and questioned the on duty office manager who also said it couldn't be done. It didn't seem to occur to either of them that they cold have issued me a full refund and then rerun my cc for the 'primitive site' rate which was just a few dollars less. I was quite disappointed in their lack of effort to make things right for their customer. Needless to say, I will be filing a dispute with my cc company as I did not receive the product/services for which I was charged. I would suggest that the park make their staff fully aware that their even number sites are 20 amp only (i.e., an extension cord?) and that the odd ones are 30 amp. Better yet ... invest a bit of money and make all sites a minimum of 30 AMP. They do have 'premium' sites with 20/30/50 AMP for a...
Read morePlaned my trip out there two months in advanced with my new 2023 trailer. Was very excited to stay there for new years until I was discriminated for my religion by nick and the staff. I explained to him that I have my trailer towed into my spots by drivers because of my religion, I don't drive vehicles similar to Amish etc. I have never had a problem with this in any park and always pay companies or drivers who pull my RV when I'm ready to leave. I didn't even have to tell Nick but decided to be honest that I have my RV towed in by companies. He tried to pull some rule that we have to have trucks because it's in a tsunami zone. I have stayed in multiple parks in or around tsunami zones and never had any one try to use this rule. The state of Oregon website says rogue tsunamis can happen in less then 15 minutes warning time and people should always head for the hills. I'm sorry but if a tsunami hit the last thing I would think about is towing my RV, I would hop a ride on out of town as quickly as I could to save my self and dog. I'm currently staying in a tsunami zone in depoe bay and never once did the rv park mention this rule. I tried reaching out to the park commission and city but none of the emails for the park were active or valid. Still consider filling a official complaint with the city/state for religious discrimination as I would almost guarantee someone is staying at that park with out a vehicle to pull such as elderly couple or snowbirds. I was excited to enjoy Florence and spend money on the city until this all happened. I could understand a private park pulling this garbage but for a city ran park to discriminate in 2024 in Oregon is sad. Nick was very sadistic and excited to deny me when I told him I was a Christian and can't drive due to my faith. I hope the city state or an attorney reads this, this place is a law suit waiting to happen and the tax payers will be stuck with the bill. Nick was verbally abusive, unhinged, aggressive and child like when it came to his duties. I feel bad for possible tourist coming here to vacation. I would not walk away, but...
Read moreVery disappointing experience on 3 different occasions:
So disappointing in fact that we made an appointment to speak to the (interim) Port Director.
Most recently we had made reservations for a week during the eclipse in August. Upon check-in (we'd made phone reservations), we asked if our total included our "Good Sam" discount. The woman at the desk said she couldn't give us that discount because we didn't make arrangements when we called. We were never asked!
When we pulled into the RV park, a large trailer blocked our ability to pull in. I stopped and asked the guys outside the trailer if there was any way they could move their car to their side of the space. They were drunk and laughed at me, then began to cuss.
We're smart travelers and just decided to leave. Stopping at the office on our way out, we asked for a refund. The same lady told us that a refund was no problem- they could mail us a check or refund our card. We opted for the refund on our credit card because we were 800 miles away from our mailing address and weren't returning home for several months.
Only after leaving did we look at the receipt we were given- it was a credit card receipt that stated "refund". It also showed on the bottom- "Off-Line", meaning that the machine wasn't even connected when she processed the refund.
We never received our refund.
This really isn't about money, but rather how they treat people. We will not be returning to Port of...
