I’m usually a mid-range hotel person (Hampton Inn) and avoid super 8 when traveling. Choices were limited for Florence and we only needed a comfortable clean room for one night while traveling the Oregon Coast. I trusted reviews here on TA, and booked the stay. The military rate couldn’t be beat. We were given a two queen room on the first floor (requested 1st floor, no elevator). First thing I do anytime I get into a hotel room is check cleanliness and A/c….cleanliness was good, but there was no AC. I was upset at first, but it was late and it was cool outside. We opened a window for a while, then closed it up and used the oscillating fan in room. Room temperature was perfect and so comfortable to sleep, beds were comfortable and we rested well. The place has been updated in many ways, but furniture was older and somewhat worn. There was a smart mirror over vanity, but bathtub was newer and had a great massage shower head, hot water and great water pressure. Dove brand soap, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion. Fridge was not cold when we arrived, but it wasn’t on. It worked fine but took a while to cool down (they should be left on). A really modern amenity offered was free EV charging right in front of our room, which was appreciated for our hybrid rental. Get there early if you need it because parking is limited. The whole property was a mix of old and new. In many ways it felt like a motel from the 60’s with a few modern touches. Breakfast is very limited to a small counter in the office with grab and go items. Coffee, muffins, yogurt, fruit, and oatmeal packets. It was enough for us to grab and eat once we hit the road, and coffee was decent. Surprisingly, I would stay here again. Don’t let the franchise name put you off! I was pleasantly surprised by...
Read moreI searched and searched for days for a rental home on or near the beach in Florence. I had no luck finding anything close to reasonable. I had passed over this motel multiple times because well, it is a motel and a Super 8 and thos things are pretty reliably questionable. Once I realized it's location right at Old Town and lots of positive reviews I gave it another shot. The (off-season) price was ridiculously reasonable compared to everything else I found, to the point that I decided I would try it.||It turned out to be nice and comfortable. It is basically right on top of Old Town (just walk down the hill) and a short drive across the bridge to the sand dunes. Staff was friendly. Breakfast is lame and served on a counter in the check in area with no place to eat. It was crowded with just me and my daughter gathering things. But it did the job and seemed clean and fresh. The room was clean and the beds were ok. Someone else on here said it was the best hotel they had stayed at...I don't think that is hardly true, but the price to comfort and safety ratio was very high. ||Don't be scared away by the old school 'doors outside' building. It's perfectly acceptable for a night or two. I don't know prices in season, but as long as you feel it is a good value for that time it will be a...
Read moreStayed solo for one night in July as part of a 25 property/47 night USA road trip, so this review is relatively objective.||Easily found adjacent to the highway with plenty of parking.||Pleasant staff.||Old style motel that has been successfully remodelled.||Clean, comfortable and large enough room on the 2nd floor. Those with limited mobility should be aware that there is no elevator/lift. No aircon, but the open window provided adequate fresh sea air during a hot period. Surprisingly very little night time traffic noise.||Easy walking distance of the historic old town waterfront with plenty of bars/eating opportunities.||No breakfast offered - but there was coffee etc in the reception area.||A good pit stop, albeit a little pricey for the standard, but hey schools out and it was...
