I was out visiting family from NY and stopped in to see what they had because we were not from the area and wanted to check out shops. After walking around and small talk with the lady at the counter and the gold smith commented on my wedding ring because it is one of a kind. Long story short I asked him if he could add gold to one area of the ring. He exclaimed with excitement and said a high number and how great he was at being a gold smith. Well…that’s where I disagree. The ring had a sharp piece of gold on it that he welded to the ring very distastefully. That was the problem it was catching on things and tearing them, mostly linens. When I picked up the ring I didn’t notice the sharp piece I believe the sub par work the weld failed overtime. Fast forward I call to notify them and again the lady answered the phone and was nasty and rude. Finally after a few mins she wanted me and I explained I’m not shipping one of a kind ring across country to get lost or better yet the gold smith they have destroy it. I offered to make it right by sending me the dollars it would take to get it fixed from a trusted vendor locally in my state. Let me tell you that is not an option with them….wow! I hardly ever write reviews because I do the right thing and call so the business has a chance to make it right. They failed me and I strongly believe they cannot be trusted with any smithing services. Most unprofessional experience at a jeweler’s by far!
Top it off I had them value a gold chain as well prior to this and that same lady tried telling me it was 10k and buying it for that price. I don’t know what to tell you but shame on me at that point. I should’ve just walked out but I figured it was a mistake because the gold smith confirmed it was 14k. I hope the owner gets involved and trains the lady “gate keeper” at the front on...
Read moreAbout a year ago I sold some old dental crowns to Stuart, I spend copious amounts of time obsessed with precious metals and I love learning new things, I'm interested in growing as much as I can... i wish I had known then what I know now and Im disappointed that a trusted business professional doesn't seem to care about credibility.
I had 6 crowns with the molars still inside a couple. I had removed the tooth from one of the crowns and I was justtryingtomakesurethatmy dogs were fed and happy, so I took the crown in Thinking back it did seem a bit like I was being ripped off because I had weighed the crown on several different scales prior to bringing the crown to Custom Jewlery, I never got to see the acid test or the weighing of the crown in the shop. I was told that it was just under 2 gram and based on the acid test it was 14k so the price I was given was 53 dollars. After I had taken the money and left I checked online and found I was given 60% of the weight for a gold 14k crown. That has always bugged me considering that they smelt gold in the shop and since they don't have to send it out for refining he definitely could have given me a fairer price, But, Now Here's the Kicker!Come to find out, when I had the other crowns looked at that they weren't just Gold, but also Platinum, 57% of there over all weight was pure platinum and not gold. I don't know how anyone else would feel if you were just trying to make a honest buck to survive and that you were being taken advantage of by a professional. Someone who has 2 jewlery stores and has made it his life had either been ripping me off or didn't know what they were really. What do you think about that? Wouldn't you be a little ticked off that someone who is supposed to be an honest and professional business owner, and then you...
Read moreI live here locally in Florence and wanted to ask about getting an appraisal on a diamond ring of mine. They don’t do appraisals there, but they gave me a card for someone in Eugene that does appraisals which I appreciated. I also was looking to buy a little ring. I didn’t want to spend a lot. I was talking with one fellow and I saw a ring that I liked that said $45. He pulled it out of the slot and it said $95 on the tag on the inside. And he said “Oh, this $45 is for another ring”. The other was close by so I understood. I then continued to look at the more expensive rings. I walked a few feet away from him and then walked down to the less pricey rings again. Right then a lady came in and he proceeded to be occupied with her and carry-on a long conversation. Anyway, his associate then helped me with a tray of rings that I was looking at. I saw another one that said $45. He pulled it out and again on the inside it said $95. And he said “Oh, this $45 tag was for another ring”. I said “How am I supposed to know that”. I left there very unhappy with the whole experience. When I left, the first fellow I was talking to was still talking to the lady that had come in. Even though I wasn’t looking at expensive jewelry I still was a customer. On my way out I was asked if I had any relatives visiting. I said no I didn’t. But I tell you, even if I had relatives visiting and even if they wanted to spend a lot of money on jewelry, I wouldn’t...
