I've only been here a few times & every single time the staff members, with the exception of one, I believe her name was Becca or Rebecca (she had red hair & was extremely pleasant,) has been extremely rude!. I went in last week & was treated so badly I contemplated asking for the manager/owner, but was so irritated I overheard the names of the offending employees & got the heck out of there! Dakota, the girl that served me was rude, brash & insulting! Her attitude, tone of voice & harsh personality was completely offensive considering she's in the service industry. The other woman Leslie, who seemed older, was almost frazzled to the point of having a meltdown or crying over what seemed like an easy day for a coffee shop? Certainly not Starbucks status busy! I try to support local business & do enjoy the coffee & atmosphere here, but it's not worth the insulting customer service I receive from employees of a company that obviously doesn't value customer service. I won't be returning!
UPDATE I did get a response back from I'm assuming either the owner or manager, encouraging me to return for a free coffee. I do appreciate you reaching out to me personally & would be more than happy to come back in next month when I'm back in town for business to give the service another shot. I do understand that everyone, including businesses do have their off days & am hoping this was just one of those occurrences. Upon my return, assuming everything goes well, I'll be more than happy to delete this review & leave a new, hopefully better one in its place. Thank you again for reaching out...
Read moreA perfect cafe, with one XL caveat. I went here twice in one day while visiting Florence. I had a decaf Mexican mocha and a blended chai and they were both amazing; the decaf was flavorful and full-bodied and the blended chai creamy and refreshing (more on the cinnamon-cardamom than clove side). The baristas were fantastic.
The back patio seating is lovely! I brought my binoculars for birding and saw sea lions, a great egret, pigeon guillemots, and a variety of cormorants, gulls and sparrows.
I loved it enough to come back again before closing to buy a t-shirt. I was disappointed to find that the XL tees cost a full $4 more than smaller sizes ($22.95 vs $18.95). I still purchased one, but it left a sour taste in my mouth and left me waffling afterward about whether to recommend the cafe at all. I get that itâs probably due to a price difference on the supplier end of things, but in the end itâs effectively a tax on larger bodies and that doesnât sit...
Read moreWe found ourselves in Florence unexpectedly after the campsite we had booked cancelled on us. River Roasters was a quick walk from our campsite at Port of Siuslaw and boy am I glad that we decided to stop here.
The coffee was really good and they offered a variety of baked goods as well as gifts and household items for sale. I got the sense that many of the people eating here were locals, which is always a good sign.
I got a large coffee and a Maple Pecan scone. My girlfriend got a Bacon, Potato, Egg, and cheese wrap, which seemed to be one of the few hot options they offer. It was delicious despite being pre-made.
If I go back, I would definitely try some of the other biscuits and scones they had for sale. They all looked delicious and unfortunately I was not all that hungry.
PRO TIP: Stop in for a gift to take home or send to a loved one. River Roasters has a great selection of art and gifts that seemed unusual for a coffee...
