We found ourselves in Florence unexpectedly after the campsite we had booked cancelled on us. River Roasters was a quick walk from our campsite at Port of Siuslaw and boy am I glad that we decided to stop here. The coffee was really good and they offered a variety of baked goods as well as gifts and household items for sale. I got the sense that many of the people eating here were locals, which is always a good sign. I got a large coffee and a Maple Pecan scone. My girlfriend got a Bacon, Potato, Egg, and cheese wrap, which seemed to be one of the few hot options they offer. It was delicious despite being pre-made. If I go back, I would definitely try some of the other biscuits and scones they had for sale. They all looked delicious and unfortunately I was not all that hungry. PRO TIP: Stop in for a gift to take home or send to a loved one. River Roasters has a great selection of art and gifts that seemed unusual for a coffee shop this size.

Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting this charming cafe, which captivates with its cozy atmosphere, welcoming staff, and exceptional coffee—a true highlight that promises a return visit. However, the experience took a turn when it came to the snack options. It’s perplexing to pay $8 for a breakfast burrito only to receive it cold, alongside similarly chilled muffins and bagels. This leads to an inevitable question: Why am I paying premium prices, even encouraged to leave a tip, if I’m tasked with warming my own food and clearing my table? While the provision of a clean microwave and toaster is appreciated, it introduces an unnecessary inconvenience and raises concerns about the overall practicality and hygiene of self-service in what should be a seamless cafe experience. It’s my hope that the cafe reevaluates this approach to food service, aligning their offerings more closely with the quality and convenience customers rightfully expect.

Decent coffee, (appears to be not fair trade or organic) with excellent river and bridge views. Great atmosphere, nice staff, though high turnover. The only negative possibly are the edible offerings, most are pitifully small & pretty sparce. I'd suggest maybe charging more and offering larger bites... Also possibly offer scones, nice earlier morning hours. Update: Egg muffin sandwiche was pretty lacking... And it comes cold, you have to heat it yourself. I've had Egg McMuffins that tasted better. Again, I wish they'd do a little bit better with the food offerings. As far as the coffee... they don't offer 12 oz, only 16 + Coffee tastes a little water down imho. I really like coming here, but I wish they'd do a little better 🤷

I've only been here a few times & every single time the staff members, with the exception of one, I believe her name was Becca or Rebecca (she had red hair & was extremely pleasant,) has been extremely rude!. I went in last week & was treated so badly I contemplated asking for the manager/owner, but was so irritated I overheard the names of the offending employees & got the heck out of there! Dakota, the girl that served me was rude, brash & insulting! Her attitude, tone of voice & harsh personality was completely offensive considering she's in the service industry. The other woman Leslie, who seemed older, was almost frazzled to the point of having a meltdown or crying over what seemed like an easy day for a coffee shop? Certainly not Starbucks status busy! I try to support local business & do enjoy the coffee & atmosphere here, but it's not worth the insulting customer service I receive from employees of a company that obviously doesn't value customer service. I won't be returning!

UPDATE I did get a response back from I'm assuming either the owner or manager, encouraging me to return for a free coffee. I do appreciate you reaching out to me personally & would be more than happy to come back in next month when I'm back in town for business to give the service another shot. I do understand that everyone, including businesses do have their off days & am hoping this was just one of those occurrences. Upon my return, assuming everything goes well, I'll be more than happy to delete this review & leave a new, hopefully better one in its place. Thank you again for reaching out...

A perfect cafe, with one XL caveat. I went here twice in one day while visiting Florence. I had a decaf Mexican mocha and a blended chai and they were both amazing; the decaf was flavorful and full-bodied and the blended chai creamy and refreshing (more on the cinnamon-cardamom than clove side). The baristas were fantastic.

The back patio seating is lovely! I brought my binoculars for birding and saw sea lions, a great egret, pigeon guillemots, and a variety of cormorants, gulls and sparrows.

I loved it enough to come back again before closing to buy a t-shirt. I was disappointed to find that the XL tees cost a full $4 more than smaller sizes ($22.95 vs $18.95). I still purchased one, but it left a sour taste in my mouth and left me waffling afterward about whether to recommend the cafe at all. I get that it’s probably due to a price difference on the supplier end of things, but in the end it’s effectively a tax on larger bodies and that doesn’t sit...
