First off, let me say that I would love to give NOSH more than 5 stars! I am a bit of a picky eater. Yes, I admit it! I stopped into NOSH with a couple of friends and there was a bit of a wait to be seated because they were busy. The food smelled good as soon as we walked in and we were hungry! There are quite a few places to eat nearby but I wanted to eat here, so we waited. When we were seated, we ordered drinks (which were delicious) and looked over the menu. I was having a hard time making a final decision on what to order because I was interested in three menu items. I told our service provider this and he recommended the pot roast (I was pondering the pot roast, the meat loaf and the seafood platter) which I ordered. We ordered calamari as an appetizer and it was very good. When our meals came though, everything changed! Everyone got quiet! After my first couple of bites... I looked up from my food and realized that I was not the only one who was feeling what I felt! The food was amazing! I do not use this word lightly or much but it is called for here! Every single bite was flavorful, well balanced and cooked to perfection! I followed up my meal with the Lava Cake with Carmel Ice Cream which was Everything that you could want in a lava cake! My friends ordered the Salmon Bowl and the Seafood Platter. The Seafood Platter was heaping and perfectly cooked! The Salmon Bowl was very much enjoyed by my friend who is in food service! We were very impressed! I feel like I am waxing poetic about the food (maybe because I would eat here every day if I could!) and forgetting to discuss the service. Our service provider was fantastic, from start to finish! All of us either have or do work in the food service industry and we love this place! The only thing that made me sad is that the next day, we had a previously made reservation across the street... and the food there was disappointing. I wanted to go back to NOSH but they are closed on Sunday and Monday. Probably so that everyone can get some rest from their busy week! I will 100% be going...
Read moreThis was our first time here. We were very hopeful and hungry when we arrived. The owner and workers were very friendly and they greet you almost immediately. The location is on a busy street but there were convenient parking lots nearby. Once we sat down, it took a good 8-10 minutes before we were asked what we wanted to drink. The drinks were fairly quick but they forgot my wife's drink completely. We got food before she got a drink. The Dr pepper was good and carbonated. The marionberry lemonade was decent but a little tart and lots of seeds. We ordered the seafood sampler and the salmon with mash potatoes and sweet chili sauce. The food didn't take too long. The calamari was my favorite part of our meal. The sauce it came with was good too. The halibut was delicious. The rockfish was not good at all and had a terrible odor. Both fish were battered heavier than it should be and the calamari was a little greasy but again, it was still yummy. Once we were done eating, there were only two full tables. We waited a good 15-20 minutes waiting to get checked out. I wanted to break my $100 bill but sadly they took so long that we used our smaller bills just so we can finally leave! Overall,it was a "so so" experience. I would consider going back for the calamari but I would get it to go because we were not serviced very well. Lastly, we wanted drink refills and never got them. The price was ok. When we told the owner that the rockfish wasn't good, we didn't even get a small discount for the fish we obviously didn't eat. This place deserves a 2.5...
Read moreOkay, when I really like a place, I take a second to read the 1-star reviews, so let's start with some of them. Look, this is a small place in a small town, I was there off-peak, but I can imagine this place has a 'demand management problem.' Insofar as it is probably the best place to eat in this town with the best food, and their capacity is limited. Thems the facts folks, they don't care about your feelings.
So that out of the way, this is 5 star restaurant that would be competitive in any city. They have an excellent menu, and everything looks good. We had an appetizer of pork chili verde frachos, and it was stupid good and way too much food, wife couldn't remotely finish her Pot Roast (which was delicious), but don't worry good reader, I powered through for the review, and I finished all of my Seasame Halibut for science. All of this food was much better than it needed to be, which is a weird thing to say, but it is what is. The service was very good, but again, demand, small restaurant, small staff, they were friendly and professional, but there were just weren't enough of them.
Go do,...
