We've been visiting Mendocino Seaside Cottage for over 20 years now. And it remains our favorite. We aren't typical B&B folks that enjoy eating breakfast with 3 other couples nor do we need the owners giving us restaurant suggestions so this B&B is perfect. They will leave you coffee, water and some snacks. Owner is a text away if you need anything.||We just returned from our 5 day stay in the stand alone Cottage. It's perfect with a pup although we'd probably stay here even if we didn't bring our dog. (We love the Penthouse Suite too, but it's not dog friendly though.) It has a separate bedroom area, living room, kitchen and bathroom. French doors open out to patio that is fenced in which is very nice if you bring your dog. Everything you could think about is in kitchen. I immediately put tall glasses in freezer as soon as I walk in kitchen. So many great beers in the area to enjoy but gotta have that frosty mug!||Weather was amazing, and after all these years, we finally went to the Skunk Train in Fort Bragg. They have a couple excursions where dogs are permitted so we took ours and she loved the adventures!||We visited Sea Pal Cove in Noyo Harbor--very dog friendly and great selection of beer on draught. Also tried Laurel's Deli in Fort Bragg and had some great pecan and cinnamon rolls. We tried Bear's Pizza (formally Vinny's) in the same shopping center as Harvest Market in Fort Bragg. And, of course, every am started at Good Life Bakery in Mendocino. Great coffee, pastries and breakfast.||No carbs (or calories) left behind on vacation! See...
Read moreFirst impressions of the property are that this is a beautiful property well off highway 1 and any main roads, so it is quiet. The only thing we could hear from our room (Vista View) was the waves. There is a road in front, but it is a dead end and not heavily travelled. Mel is friendly and helpful with instructions. A basket of snacks and bottled water are available in the room, which is thoughtful. There is also a Keurig coffeemaker with an assortment of coffee. Town is a short walk away. First impressions of the room are that a little TLC and addressing of deferred maintenance are sorely needed—frayed rug in the entry, missing window screens, ripped off formica, missing cover on a circa 1960 bath fan, stopper for the sink, baseboard and drywall pulled away in the bathroom, a new front door lock. The bathroom in the Vista view room is small and the shower is tiny (picture the shower in an RV). There’s a reason they don’t show photos of the bathroom on the website. Although the room is large, it is filled with furniture, tables, etc. so that it a challenge finding places to set luggage, toiletries, and other bags other than on the floor. There was no housekeeping service during our four-night stay, which is okay, but we had to ask for replacement towels because we only got one each to start. Still, it was nice having a fireplace and hearing the ocean, which counts for a lot. That’s why we come to Mendocino, right? The bed was comfy and it was,...
Read moreWe stayed in the Penthouse room a couple weeks ago, and it was fantastic! The 180° view is amazing, and Mel, the innkeeper, was just great and so accommodating and responsive. He even lined the table with flameless candles for us (real candles are not allowed due to fire danger). The nice kitchen area was a good size with a long counter and had a small refrigerator and microwave, as well as a couple different types of coffee makers. My husband care for Keurig coffee makers, so he used the regular drip coffee maker that was in the cabinets instead (there was loose coffee and filters provided). I think I even saw a French press in the cabinets, but I can't remember for sure. There were dishes & silverware, and some pots & pans provided, as well as paper towels. There was also a basket of snacks and bottled water. The room is large and well appointed, but the best part for us was the table in the turret with its beautiful ocean view; we spent most of our time there enjoying the view while we were in the room. We brought pre-made fondue, heated it in the microwave, and had a lovely candlelight dinner there watching the sunset one of the nights. We also got takeout a couple of nights, eating at the table with the view. It was so nice just being able to walk out the door to the headlands trail along the ocean. We loved our stay and can't wait until we are able to go back. Oh, and the robes...
