The hotel is 10 years old and yet seems like 1 to 2 years old - The 3rd floor hallway carpet gave that impression (must have been renovated?). I believed the former name of this hotel is Centerstone Plaza hotel/ Lexington/Holiday Inn – like the Phoenix reborned, this hotel is name Lakeshore Hotel & Suites. I was upgraded to a king Suite (slow mid week 108 deg day). The website says 400 square feet which I felt was like 700 sq feet including the living room and bathroom – spacious! The living room was decorated just enough not to feel clutter and give plenty of space. No convenient power plug beside the bed nightstand for me to plug in my phone to charge or use my laptop. Nowaday, it is relative cheap to change out the wall plug and upgrade it to a wall plug included with USB charge outlet. The room could have provided mugs or glasses to complement the room interior presentation. Such a luxurious bed in the king suite, dresser, 6’ leather sofa, and leather chair but comes with cheap paper cups and small thin bath towel. These could be upgrade without breaking the bank but gave the hotel guests a feeling of staying in an upscale hotel. The room could use more of wall paintings or pictures to brighten up the room, gave the room a life. The living room was a bit dark even with the 3 lamps lighted up at night (may be a bigger watt light bulb would help). The sofa bed had cookie crumbs underneath the cushion so I did not bother to pull it out to see. It is an extra 24 miles off the I-10 exit but I think it is worth your drive to come to this property. It is very quiet at night in this Fountain Hills neighborhood giving a good rest. I took a drive at 8pm a mile north to the Fountain View Village (shopping center) and the whole community was quiet (no activities). People stayed indoor after dark. Street night was far and between and whole community is giving an impression of at rest. Many 3.5 star hotels don’t even come close to the comfort this hotel provided. Abide location is out of the way but well worth the extra few minutes driving and at a great value of your money spent. I recommend this hotel.

I was absolutely disgusted with this hotel ,everything was outdated there was a paint chemical smell in the Room ,and in the hallways The carpet in the Room was disgusting and stained ,also Could not see out the window it was so stained ,and disgusting ,tried to change the Room when they gave us another Room it was identical ,and just as dirty, The only thing this place has going for it is the location out and around the area ,if they updated this hotel from the ground up it would be a gold mine. They need to demolition the inside maybe then we will come back.Let me Give you a little advice get a designer in there ASAP, spruce up the place you could put a fire pit in the pool area with some chairs, maybe some coffee in the morning where the bar is in the Room off from the pool ,and some flowers around. The hotel is dreary and dingy You definitely need to update the rooms not just throw a coat of paint on it when you can't even finish it as for my reviews look again, I give very good reviews to businesses that deserve it ,and bad reviews to businesses that don't ,sorry to say you don't ,I am very easy to please if you care about your customers and your business ,you have a lot of work to do to please me .

I have drove through Fountain Hills many times, but never stayed the night. I decided to stay a few days at Lakeshore Hotel & suites. I chose this hotel because it was right across the street from the world famous Fountain Hills Lake Fountain. I heard from friends and read some negative reviews of this hotel, but I didn't discourage me. I always like to find out for myself. The staff was very welcoming the moment I walked in. The rooms were surprisingly modern and cozy. I even spend time at the pool and it was a very comfortable and refreshing. The bottom line, this hotel is worth the price to stay a night or two.

We checked in on Monday night, room was not pre-inspected. Toilet had overflowed and flooded or wax ring broke and ever time toil flushed wastewater flowed onto floor. Obvious not the first time because wood base board slightly blow out from previous water damage.|Desk clerk apologetic and gave us new room. We settled in for the night and that is when the nightmare started. We were on the first floor and the room above us at 1030-11 PM just started marching from side to side until about 1-130 AM. Knowing it a hotel and they can’t control everything tried to let it go. At 430 AM it started again; I am a fairly heavy sleeper but loud enough to wake me. My Son and I tried to tolerate this and at 630 had our fill and my son went to the front desk because they would not answer the phone when I called using the phone in the room or my cell phone. My son when to the night desk clerk and the response was you should have come to me at 430 what am I supposed to do about it now. He said, “but we are still trying to sleep. The night clerk also the problem will be remedied they are checking out today.|I then approached the day manager after we did get up explained the situation and she did say the night clerk should have handle it differently. But I did not verify they were checking out. |With the belief that the problem was resolved we went to bed at about 930-10 and again at about 11-1130 PM the noise and stopping started and continued till about 1-130 and slowly stopped. But at 430 sharp it started, this time taking the night clerk’s advice I went directly to her and made my complete say two nights in a row, no sleep, I thought they were leaving. She assured me she would resolve the issue. I went back to my room. In our room we can hear them talk, we would have heard the phone ring; we would have heard the door knock, and we heard nothing other than the noise continue. PROBLEM NOT RESOLVED.|So that day I stopped by and spoke with the manager again. This time I was not as friendly, I explained we had the exact same issue. If the guest were to check out the day before like we were told the new ones had the exact same schedule. They were up from 10 PM to about 1-130 AM they were up at about 430. The manager extremely annoyed with me asked what they are supposed to do and I said enforce the quite time and then I requested a new room because I did not want to my last night to go without sleep. The manager said the room above would be checking out and we would no longer have the issue. I said we heard this before, and I honestly do not believe you and still do not believe you. She said we are full, and I have no rooms to change you with. She said I could pack my luggage and leave it at the front desk and if a room came available, they would move me in it. I did not want to take a chance and lose my room. Manager in an angry huff said she will put the room out of service causing her to lose money. I told her I booked three days and got no sleep for two days. She had no response for that.|But if the guest above me was checking out, why didn’t she give me that room. Lucky enough they did leave because it was quiet the last night. But the next day we got up 7 AM the back lot empty and the side lot was empty no cars so if the hotel was full the guest must have been bused in. You can see in the pictures no cars in the lot.|Overall older hotel recently updated nice area but there are plenty of other hotels in are to pick from. Threshold on door to room missing, what looks to be mold in corners in bathroom near shower. Unfortunate my son does water mitigation for over 10 years and no we did not test it but we did take pictures and will post them. Just room clean but not kept overall kept up and staff not overly friend when presented with an issue. I am posting this on Expedia and other travel blogs.||I normally don't go this in depth but this was one thing after another after another after another and I believe in giving a business a break and fair but I also believe in getting what I pay for and there are plenty of other nice hotels in the area I would recommend other hotels to stay at. I would check other locations first. I will not return to...

So, there are a bunch of negative reviews on this place, however these must be privileged cry babies who couldn’t get into the nearest resort. While the experience was pleasurable, this place isn’t without its flaws, which are completely manageable. The property (outside) is beautiful and looks befitting to the surrounding area. Hotel staff - I walked in and immediately got looked up and down and could tell that the older lady handling the front desks was judging. I arrived at 13:00 and asked if the could get me in a little early and let them know that if it wasn’t possible, I’m fine with it. She then turns to what I’m assuming is either the owner or General Manager and asked if they could accommodate. Whomever he was, he was more than willing to find me a vacant room and got me in with no problem. I fear that had he not been there, she would have refused. However, I’m not quite sure what she was doing working the front desk if she couldn’t make a simple decision on he own. I wouldn’t say they were friendly or personable, it was more of a get you in and out of my face ordeal, but he got me in… 2 hours before check-in…so I can’t complain. That was the limit of my interaction. The room - yes, the room(s) are a bit out dated, smelled of heavy oder cover-u, but all was functional and in working order. Everything was clean. IDK who (earlier post) expects a USB port in the lamp but grown up. Pack accordingly and bring your wall charger. Don’t come on here, give them a 1 star and cry about not having a USB. Claim your mistake a move on. I’ve stayed in 27 hotels within the first 5 months of this year and probably 3 had USB ports in their room. I don’t care because I know how to pack for travel. The carpets are old and have many stains. I would suggest they do this renovation in addition to the old stained and outdated chairs in the rooms. It’s clear that the front desk area and all of the halls have had renovation. The hall carpets were cleaner than my room. But, I have sandals and didn’t mind too much. The furniture is old and stained. I chose not to sit on anything other than the office chair to do some work. I put a towel down while sitting in it. I should add that the ice machine on the 2nd floor does not work. I chose to go to the 3rd and it worked fine. Not sure if the 1st floor one is working, as I didn’t go down there. Hassle, but oh well. Nothing to cry about.

The property is beautiful and in a great area; central of everything. When reading reviews, be VERY skeptical of all of the negatives. They seem to be donkeys (JA’s) who should have paid more to get what they expected. The rooms are fairly priced for all that is included. I would highly suggest anyone to stay here….it’s not perfect….however, the price surely can justify the shortcomings. If you’re a normal person who doesn’t expect everything handed to you on a silver platter, you will be just fine with this place. It’s definitely not a Motel 6.

Also, the internet speed is phenomenal in comparison to any hotel I have ever stayed at. While Marriott, Hilton and other name brand places throttle your bandwidth, this place has a 15mbps up and 5mbps down, which is by far the BEST internet speeds I’ve ever gotten from ANY hotel. I’d literally stay here over any resort just due the the fact that they have FUNCTIONAL internet and not some half a$$ service that asks you to pay for the ‘premium’ service which is still 1/3 of this...

I recently called to get a price quote for a three night stay. The price I was quoted was double what I used to pay and I told them I was not interested. I ended up staying at another property in the area.

A couple of days later I discovered that my card, which was on file in the hotel's computer, had been charged for the three night price quote I had been given. I called and asked why my card had been run when I not only didn't make a reservation but also never checked into the hotel and was told that whoever I had spoken to had made a mistake. Everything was not corrected at that time and i was told it may take a day or two to get this sorted out and they would get back with me. That is unacceptable.

They know I never checked in and I made it clear I never made a reservation, just inquired about prices and yet they did not just cancel the charges they made to my card. If this isn't resolved very quickly I will be contacting the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office to file fraud charges.

I'm not sure what is going on at the Lakeshore Hotel but it sure isn't anything like it used to be. I will not ever be staying there again and would recommend other travelers do the same. Beware!

Below is my review from before this property came under new ownership.

My wife and I both love staying at the Centerstone Plaza Hotel in Fountain Hills, Arizona! As soon as we walked into the lobby we were first greeted by the smell of the holidays. Somehow they managed to get the entire lobby to smell like evergreen trees and a hint of maybe cinnamon. We were then greeted by the two employees working the front desk. They were very friendly and helpful. Our room was ready and waiting for us. On our way to the room, I noticed the carpeting in the hallways appeared to be either brand new or extremely well maintained. Very clean and tidy. The room turned out to be a two-room suite! The furniture, bedding and dark hardwood floors looked amazing! Not the normal cookie cutter boring decor. There were two televisions, one in the bedroom and another in the living room with couch and chairs. There was also a coffee pot with regular and decaf coffee, a microwave oven and a small refrigerator. Many of the hotel rooms my wife and I have stayed at recently, no longer provide even a coffee pot, so that was a nice touch. The hotel is right across the street from the famous park with lake and fountain that gives Fountain Hills it's name. There is a nice shopping center adjacent to the park with several restaurants, coffee shop, wine bar and many other businesses. The restaurants have outdoor seating which is perfect this time of year with the perfect weather. All in all, the Centerstone Plaza Hotel was an amazing experience and at a very reasonable price. My wife and I will find an excuse very soon to return to Fountain Hills and the Centerstone Plaza Hotel. Highly...
