REPOST WITH ADDED RECOMMENDATIONS:
Honestly, this is one of the best budget-friendly hotels that I’ve found on Expedia in Fresno, CA. It’s only been my first day here, but I’m already enjoying the room. The atmosphere is amazing. The rooms are spacious, organized, and clean as advertised, especially the kitchen and bathroom. It has a simple, minimalistic, and modern touch in terms of the aesthetics of the hotel room.
I got the Deluxe Room with 1 Queen Bed and Sofa Bed. The room makes feel relaxed and cozy, but it also have a space for you to do your work in as well! I was able to find everything easily. One of my most favorite things here is that it’s very clean and organized, which is something I found lacking in other hotel/motel establishments in this city, so I don’t have to question their cleanliness here at Sonesta.
For ~$1,200 for 10 nights & 2 people, it’s worth it! They also offer delicious free complimentary breakfast and a 24/7 gym, which is so convenient to keep me physically active and healthy throughout my stay! For breakfast, I usually get their scrambled eggs with cheese, salsa, spinach, wheat toast with cream cheese, oatmeal, iced water, decaf coffee, and boiled eggs. The staff is also very friendly and helpful, something I’m delighted about. I’m glad I found this place on Expedia because my previous experiences at other hotel/motel locations were pretty bad unlike here at Sonesta.
Otherwise, I’m very satisfied with our stay here in Sonesta.
EDIT: I have a couple of suggestions. First, I think it would be great if you could install door sweeps between the gaps of the hardwood floor and the bottom of the door. This would help keep out drafts and add a touch of privacy.
Second, I’ve noticed that our neighbors can be quite loud sometimes, and I can hear their conversations from my room when they are in their rooms. I think it would be a nice touch if you could make sure that each hotel room is soundproof. This would allow guests to have private conversations without worrying about other guests hearing them.
Third, having larger garbage/recycling bins inside the hotel room and at least a nearby large disposal bin for the hotel guests to throw out their own garbage without having to leave the hotel facility would be nice and convenient.
Fourth, having larger kitchen knives, cutting board, and all steel kitchen utensils would be a great plus for those who want to cook inside the hotel room.
Fifth, the housekeepers should verify the guests’ identities before the guests enter the room. I’m saying this because the housekeeper was nice and did her job well by cleaning our room; however, she didn’t verify our identity nor checked our key cards to see if we were the actual guests staying in the room or not. She also left the room door open, which meant that ANYBODY could’ve came in our room and took our belongings or attempted to do identity fraud and looked through our belongings. Luckily, this didn’t happen, but for future security purposes, the housekeepers should close the doors and ensures it’s locked and verify identity before letting the guests enter the room WHEN and IF the...
Read moreHorrific experience. Do NOT ever stay here. In a sketchy part of town, although it wasnt always this way, as little as a year ago. As we entered through the back door at the only ingress and egress to our room, we were accosted by at least four individuals who were extreme loud and chain smoking, who took a moment in between cigarettes to take a swig from their shared brown bag wrapped bottle of alcohol which was placed on the garbage can as if it was their own personal bar. As a matter of fact, the smoke was so thick, every time the door opened, the cigarette smoke cloud invaded the inner corridor. On another note, you can hear EVERYTHING - this place is unbelievably noisy - and not just traffic and street noise. We had an early check-in and thought these transients would finish their beverages and move on, but they simply stayed all day becoming increasingly more intoxicated, tossing dozens of cigarettes to the floor and intimidating all who walked by. As if that wasnt bad enough, the door across the hall was wide open so that the entire floor could hear word for word the occupants' vile bickering, smell the stench of their cigarettes (isn't this a non-smoking hotel) and their hushed tones as they prepared their methamphetamine to inject - granted, we did not eyewitness this, but we saw what we saw. I am gobsmacked, absolutely gobsmacked. We have a stayed here off and on for 10 years while visiting family, but frankly, I'd feel safer and more comfortable sleeping in our car. We tried to contact management regarding our concerms, but at best, we were simply ignored. If we werent so exhausted from traveling, we'd switch over to Homewood Suites. Rather than go out to dinner tonight, we are so very uncomfortable at leaving our personal property unattended in our room, we'll just have a sandwich and not leave. And, frankly, the concentration of dozens of homeless on and near the property, even without the drug injecting neighbors or alcohol swilling miscreants outside the security door, are terrifying. Frankly, my husband has a late afternoon meeting and then, I quite literally can barely wait until tomorrow comes and we can get the hell out of here. This isn't just a bad day, this is a dumpster fire and train wreck combined. Lastly, the kitchen is in complete disrepair, with numerous dents in the appliances, the couch is small and desperately needs to be replaced the bed is beyond uncomfortable. Residence Inn has always been our choice, but...
Read moreThis place is great for a weekend but if you have to stay longer I would advise you don't. It is not family friendly. In other words, if you are staying and have kids make sure they stay quiet. If your kids get too loud ( which a lot of kids do when they are having fun ) the front desk will tell you to keep it down. But if your kids get loud again the front staff actually threatens with the police. While we were there we got a noise complaint while my daughter was getting ready for school. She's grouchy in the morning and we were running late so she had attitude. When I got back from dropping her off the front desk called and said we were loud and if we got loud again the police would come to escort us out. The rest of our stay was uncomfortable because we we scared to even laugh and be ourselves. I would not recommend for families, just for singles. Another issue was the amenities in the rooms. Our curtains were non operable and we could not close them because they were broken. Our room was closest to the freeway so there was day light and street lights always Illuminating our room. The other issue we had was other guest being loud. There was a party every night it seemed like until midnight. I got very little sleep. Between the noisy guest and the freeway I probably only got 4-5 hours of rest. If you are traveling for business, I would not recommend because of the noisy location. Another issue is the staff. There was only one lady at the front desk was sweet, she worked in the evening. The morning staff was very rude and I overheard one of the staff members make a comment under her breath about "those black people" that wanted to use the bbq area. It made me feel uncomfortable. I actually called corporate and had to make a customer complaint about their unprofessionalism. It was very much beneath them. Ricardo who was also apart of the front staff was very rude to me in front of my daughter. My daughter felt very uncomfortable and offended after that. She, as a minor, should not have had to witness someone be disrespectful to her or to her mother in that fashion. I would recommend that some of the staff be retrained on providing customer service and retrained to show empathy towards families and their members. From my experience there, there are families staying there due to covid-19 but have had to leave because this place is not family oriented. The staff needs to be retrained to...
