China Star Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Gainesville

We ordered a delivery from here this evening and it was sorely disappointing. I chose here because most of the reviews were pretty positive, we weren't looking for anything spectacular and it was close, it was about 9- 9:20 when we ordered so I didn't want them too terriblely inconvenienced because it was getting late. Apparently, I was wrong. I order three combination platters but only two came with the pork fried rice and only one came with an egg roll. The sesame chicken and general tsaos tasted exactly the same and were cold and hard. I couldn't even finish my sesame chicken because I bit into something hard and bone-like that completely flipped my stomach. The crab rangoon was absolutely disgusting. I literally spit it out. We asked for extra sweet and sour sauce twice and only recieved one small container. There were no utensils or napkins anywhere. I'm honestly not that picky, I've worked in food service, I know it sucks, but it's your job so you need to do it and do it properly. I wasted $30+ and a 15% tip for food that I didn't even eat. I am disappointed, frustrated, and honestly, really hungry. I will not order from here under any circumstances, ever again and I don't recommend that...

VETERANS AT VA HOSPITAL BEWARE. BIG RIP OFF. FAKE CHINESE FOOD. I ORDERED from this place while in the VA hospital in November 2017 & was appalled at the very poor quality of the food. They have a $12 minimum delivery order & even charge .75 cents to use your debit or charge card. The chicken was FAKE & the pork fried rice was very bland. The sweet & sour sauce was diluted & had little taste. Even the duck & mustard sauce packets were lame & very bland. Everything about this restaurant Screams cheap & fake Chinese food. There are other better Chinese food places to order from near the VA hospital. Don't waste your money on this bad food. They should deliver to veterans at the VA hospital at a discount since they are just a few blocks away. The food was not hot when delivered as well. I am sure that most of the positive reviews for this place were made by the owners and their friends. I've never had such Lousy Chinese...

Absolutely the best value I've had in a long, long time!! The lunch specials at $8 and $9 are unbelievable!! I went in not expecting much, let's get real, what does $10 get you in this new time?!!!

So I ordered the $8 special, one meat, 2 sides. The vegetables were crisp and fresh. The noodles were firm, not mushy, and they were flavourful without being too salty. The meat was so fresh and tender yet not soggy. BTW the $8 included a beverage!!!

I was impressed that the food was authentic, and they weren't trying to be anything but quick/fresh/realand delicious!!! It's still a bit American style, however it still had Asian flavors. So it wasn't like most American/Chinese quick serve food traps!!

This place was in my opinion the absolute best value I have had in a good long while!! All the employees were happy to serve and explain.

So, if you're anywhere near Gainesville, hop on the bus, Gus and get yourself...
